This old-school combination lock will do the job. It does seem have a somewhat flimsier feel than other similar locks I've had in the past, but I believe this impression is created because the metal parts are set a bit looser and make a clinking sound when shaken. That aside, the metal does seem to be rather hard and did not give in any way after several hard yanks. This seems as far as I can tell as strong as any of my old locks. It will do just fine for the gym.

My dad gave me a Master combination lock some 60 years ago with the coveted combination 12-22-32; I used it till it was stolen with my backpack a few years ago. This lock is similar, though with a less mnemonic combination (which can't be changed); it's also a bit lighter than the one from Dad, but likely the Masters are no longer that solid either now. Offers good security since there are 40^3=64,000 possible combinations.

I got this lock mainly because it looked like one that LPL called out as not being secure, so I wanted to check it out. To me it seems like it's secure enough for some light duty locking, like a locker while you're working out at the gym. However, comparing to an equivalent Master lock, this lock feels noticeably lighter and cheaper. My advice would be to spend a couple more bucks on the Master.

Normal looking padlock; I'm sure it will do just fine. This is very light weight so it's probably not intended as a high level security tool. It came with the combination which easily opened up. I'm going to use it for the gym locker; it will do just fine.

Works like the old high school locker combination locks did. It does, however, feel a bit flimsier and lighter than I remember. Still, a good one to use. The combination sets easily and opens and closes smoothly. (I recently got a different brand. It wouldn’t close, or lock or change combinations. Also, had a seam around the whole case that looked easy to pry open. ) This one by comparison is like Ft. Knox! So, yes I’m happy.

This certainly is a padlock. It locks and unlocks easily. I don't have any troubles with it. It is very lightweight and doesn't feel too durable. I wouldn't use it to lock up anything too valuable because I suspect it could be broken fairly easily.
