🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The boots under review appear to be a mixed bag of experiences for purchasers. They are lauded for comfort, warmth, waterproofing, and good foot support even during long hikes. However, the consistency of sizing seems to be a major issue, with plenty of room for defects being reported. Several users recommend buying multiple sizes or sizing up to get the best fit.

Pros

  • 🥾 High quality, providing warmth and being waterproof
  • ⭐ Excellent foot support
  • 👍 No need for breaking in
  • 🔁 Removable insoles for custom orthotics

Cons

  • ⚠️ Inconsistent sizing
  • ❗ Potential for defective items
  • 👟 More suitable for hiking than snowy conditions
  • 💫 Less cushioned than expected by some users

Should I Buy It?

If you participate in regular hikes and outdoor adventures and prioritize comfort and performance qualities such as good foot support and waterproofing, this could be a suitable pick for you. On the other hand, be prepared for potential sizing issues and defects, and it may be advisable to order multiple sizes and return those that do not fit.

  • BEWARE!! Inconsistent sizing!!
Size: 6.5 Color: Elk/Mountain Red
I ordered these boots on try before you buy (TBYB). I ordered a 6.0 and 6.5. The 6.5 fit like correct… I think? Again I also ordered a 6.0 to compare the fit because boots are different than sneakers and I did have plenty of toe room in the 6.5. I just wasn’t sure if there was too much room (in the 6.5). When I tried the 6.0, it was SIGNIFICANTLY SMALLER… and there was a weird lump in the sole. I thought to myself, there’s no way a 1/2 could feel like at least a whole size smaller… so I did some measuring. Turns out the 6.0 has the measurements of a size 5.0! There’s were obviously defects because again when I compared the two boots you could see there was a huge bulge on rubber under the sole and make it felt like you were standing on an egg inside the boot. So I still wanted to compare the size so I ordered ANOTHER 6.0 and returned the defect. Compared the (new) 6.0 with the 6.5 I probably put them on about 12 times, I couldn’t tell a difference. Then I put the boots sole to sole to see if there was even a length difference and there wasn’t. They were the exact same size. Again folks, another defect.. except now I’m not sure if they were both defects… the 6.0 for being the same size as the 6.5 AND/OR the 6.5 for also possibly being not a true 6.5… Who knows. ****Just make sure you take advantage of the TBYB, order multiple sizes, or multiples of the same size even…. I did end up keeping the ones labeled as 6.5.. I normally wear a 6.5. So I have a feeling for those who are saying to size up, are actually getting defects because as you can tell from this experiment, there’s a 50/50 chance you’ll also get a defect.**** Now for the part about Amazon and their crap customer service.. It turns out that after I ordered these on TBYB, the price dropped. I asked Amazon before I finalized my purchase if they would adjust the price to the new lower price. They said NO. So… I ordered yet another 6.5 but just paid for them this time. I then returned the “newest 6.5” back in the box with a label for the TBYB order. But really that was a lot of shipping for a price adjustment … and since shipping is free- you would think they’d rather spend less money in shipping and just adjust the price. Nope. ... show more

  • So far so good!
Size: 8.5 Color: Elk/Mountain Red
I bought these shoes for Denver and the more intense hikes over there. Now the first time I wore them we went for a hike in the mountains when it was snowing and it kept my feet dry and warm. I was worried my feet would hurt because I didn’t break them in but nope, my feet were comfy, no rubbing at all. Also the foot support was really good and they aren’t heavy on your feet. The traction was okay for the snow and ice but honestly they aren’t meant for snow so if I didn’t bust my butt in ice then I have a feeling I’ll be okay on normal terrain. I sized up half a size like recommended in reviews and they fit perfect. I’m normally an 8 and I got an 8 1/2. They have plenty of room for slightly thicker socks too. ... show more

  • Couldnt have picked better boots!
Size: 9.5 Color: Elk/Mountain Red
Bought these boots for a last minute fall backpacking trip. I knew it was going to be cold at the top and there would be multiple river crossings. It ended up raining the entire day before the trip so i was extremely glad i bought these boots. My feet were dry and warm. I did not get a chance to wear them before our 13.4mile hike but other reviews said they didnt need to be broken in and i was hoping they were right. They were correct. My feet did not hurt and by the end of the trip i had one blister on my big toe that was still intact so it had to have happened in the last mile of the trip when i was dead tired and walking rough! Long story short BEST PURCHASE EVER. ... show more

  • Very comfortable; let's see how long they last
Size: 7 Color: Elk/Mountain Red
I am a 6.5 and usually wear a 7 to have extra room and reviews seemed to say that would be fine, but I ended up having to get a refund on the 7 I ordered which was just a tad too tight with thick socks and ordered a 7.5. The 7.5 fits well with thick socks. very comfortable shoes. Not as cushioned as I had hoped inside so I might add a wool fleece insert but remarkably comfortable. Love the way they look. I had a pair of good hiking boots that lasted more than 10 years in Alaska and NoCal and I don't expect the same from anything made these days, but I do hope they last a good 3-4 years. ... show more

  • Comfy!
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: Elk/Mountain Red
I love these boots. I bought these for hiking and the ankle support. Every hiking shoe I’ve bought I end up with shin splints. No matter what . These I never got any. I did also put an insert in to help with cushion. I can wear these for a good 8 miles without discomfort . After that it gets a bit uncomfortable. Great ankle support and waterproof which is great. No breaking in time either which is a plus. ... show more

  • Best boots ever!!
Size: 8.5 Wide Color: Elk/Mountain Red
Finally! The perfect boot for my wide feet!! I ordered 8.5W (I usually order 9 to account for width and they always end up too long), and I have to say that from the moment I put these boots on, it’s been true love. They are very warm, keep your feet dry even in snow, and look amazing to boot (see what I did there?). Seriously, though, for the price, these are a far better boot than some Danner boots I had from a couple years back, and those cost a lot more. If you’re considering these boots or some other ones, go with these! ... show more

  • I like them
Size: 11 Color: Stratus/Canyon Rose
I needed a water proof shoe for my new job as a preschool teacher at our local Zoo & Aquarium. Our classroom is a good 15-30 minute walk and we go in all weather. After one walk in the rain I knew I needed something to prevent wet feet. Well it rained on the 2nd day wearing them. It was pouring outside, but my feet are still dry. You can see in the picture the water droplets beading on top of the shoe. I do think they need some breaking in as my ankles hurt a little in them, but maybe it’s me. I’ve never worn hiking boots before. Additional perk I didn’t know about is the little inserts inside the shoe are not glued down so they’re easily removable so I can put my custom orthotics in. I really appreciate that. ... show more
