I have a weak ankle and every now and then heel pain and while wearing these boots going hiking for 3 days my ankle did not hurt at all and i did not experience any heel pain which is what i was very worried about with the trip. it has great cushion and support and they are also comfortable. I did not expect to love these boots as much as I do. First, the color selection is great. Second, I didn’t know none of my other shoes fit me - as in these boots are the ultimate fit. Right now I have an ingrown toenail and I’ve worn these boots twice outside (in the rain) to do some yard work. I forgot I had an ingrown toenail. I wore these boots with regular ankle socks and thick wool socks. No problem. These give me no problem with slipping on all terrain (it rains a lot here). Better than my Sorel boots 💯 … ... show more

I was worried when purchasing the lighter color, because I thought a bunch of dirt would show, but they are surprisingly easy to clean, and honestly, not much dirt or dust kicked up on them in the first place. I was able to wipe off anything non-liquid with my hand and the rest came off with some water and a towel. The shoes took some breaking in... My first hike with them hurt one of my ankles a bit, but it was hot out, so I didn't have thick socks on. They were fine after that first time, but probably not great for summer/spring use. They are super thick on the bottom too, so you can't really grip or feel the earth like you would with a smaller hiking shoe, but I love them! They definitely stopped me from slipping on some rocks and whatnot. They are just as pictured. Great for horseback riding too! ... show more

This shoe was exactly what I needed as a beginning hiker. I'm a runner so having hiking shoes is new to me and I knew I needed something to protect my ankles. This shoe was exactly it, I took them on a short mountain hike to break them in and realized I needed to wear two pairs of socks. I needed a pair of water proof boots for a festival with weather not going to be cooperative. Walking around through deep puddles of muddy water, my feet stayed dry and warm the whole time. I am a size 7 to 7.5 depending on shoe/brand. I tried on a size 8 in the store however they were way too big even with big socks. I normally wear a size 6 and ordered a 6 1/2. These required very little break in wear. I wore these hiking Mt Fuji and they were very light and comfortable. The trail included some slightly steep rock climbs up and down the mountain and I felt supported by the ankle high boots. Been wearing a different style Columbia a long time. Love this style. Very comfortable. Perfect fit, true to size. Can't speak to waterproof claim though past styles were. BUT these are NOT dark brown and orange as pictured. They are, instead, medium eggplant and light coral! Not sure where they get the name of timber and cinder. The name is completely misleading. I would NEVER have ordered purple and coral!!! Since Amazon now discourages returns by making them difficult, inconvenient and expensive, I will keep as they are comfortable. But I wish the picture had been correct....I wanted a dark brown! ... show more
