I've had these boots for 3 years and so far they are the only boots I've ever hiked in. I do plan to upgrade to other boots soon but these are great entry level boots. They are water resistant in my experience, not waterproof. Stepping in one big puddle of water will be fine. Slogging through several puddles will eventually cause your socks to get damp. I think the grip or traction is ok for dry weather. Wet rocks and vertical scrambles on wet rocks is fine. However tree roots or slick logs - traction is poor for me. Icy trails will win against the boots. I fell down several times trying to walk on ice in these. Not the boots fault, I wasn't wearing ice spikes. Just don't wear them in winter weather. There are no signs of the boot peeling open or falling apart which is great. One negative is that the upper tongue portion becomes floppy and loose during hiking. Lacing up the boots tighter doesn't help because the tie sort of slides down under the label leaving an inch or so closest to your ankle free to move and loosen, causing the boot to not feel secure on the foot.

I've used these on a couple hikes now - for shorter, easy-moderate hikes they're great. I just did a tougher hike, and sadly I don't think they offered enough support. I have shin splints and heel pain, as well as blisters - I was using Brooks running shoes before these and never had those problems. I will say they're very warm, they're cute, and I think with some insoles and decent socks they'll be fine. They definitely stretch a little with some wear, so while initially they felt like a perfect fit they do feel a little big, now. I got a 7 and generally wear a 7. Once you break them in they're roomy - I have an average sized foot, not narrow or wide. Overall, they're pretty good! With some adjustments I'll keep using them, but for what I paid I think there might be better hiking boots out there that offer more support.

Great looking, waterproof, comfortable

I needed some new waterproof boots for walking the dogs, camping etc. And didn't want to risk $200 bucks on expensive hikers that I can't justify. These boots look great, and my feet stayed dry walking the dogs this week in wet grass and muddy areas. I did apply mink oil and let it soak in for 24 hours so that that probably helped. I'll continue to use the mink oil occasionally so I don't get the cracking leather some have complained about. I ordered my usual size 8.5 in wide so I could wear warm socks and they fit perfectly. I plan to put a softer insole in them since it does seem a tad hard. My toes got a little cold walking this week so I'm glad I have room for thicker socks. My one complaint is I can see the white tag inside the tongue when looking down, if not ties super tight. Not a big deal but I'm a bit anal so I will probably just color it with a black permanent marker. Overall, this is an excellent pair of boots for the price. If quality doesn't pan out in the long term, I will edit this review.

Unexpectedly Enjoyable

I found these boots to be very comfortable, even after an entire day of hiking. They do stretch just a little as the day goes on which I found to be wonderful as I have an injury to one foot and it never bothered it at all!

Great hiking shoes!

They fit like a glove! I have owned a similar pair in a different colour and after three years of moderate use, I had to purchase another! The only thing is that after years of usage, it becomes less waterproof and a little bit of water could get inside, only after stepping in a deep puddle though, not during rain. I suppose resealing them would fix the problem but why not own another pair right? I still highly recommend them. (Better get half a size bigger if you plan to use thick socks like I do)

I put them on yesterday for the fire time to break them in before my trip and they are awesome! I had then on all day , ran some errands and was after my toddler doing our regular activities outside and not one complaint. They are super comfy and not heavy. I’m super happy with my purchase !

Not going to lie, at first I was worried about them being too stiff for comfort. But they worked out great with the hiking I did. Just need to break them in a little. I should have went a 1/2 size up, especially if you’re wearing thick wool socks with them. I’m happy with these boots!

I bought these just before a trip to Scotland - I was kicking myself for not breaking them in earlier, but they were totally fine despite the amount we hiked!! So comfortable, durable, well made. Resistant against the mud and supportive. I love these boots!
