  • Love this jacket - soft, warm, and lots of pockets.
I was looking for a lightweight jacket that would work for the cool weather of Spring and Fall. I am 5'2" and usually wear an X-Small or Small in a t-shirt depending on the brand. In most jeans, I wear a size 1. I really liked the burgundy color in this jacket, so I ordered a size small. Although the small fit, I didn't think it would work as a jacket - wanted something a bit looser. So, I decided to order this jacket in a medium. The replacement fit more like a jacket, which is what I wanted. I returned the size small and kept the medium. The pictures are me in the size medium. When choosing size to buy, there are a couple of things to consider. If you plan to wear it as a light jacket over a t-shirt, your normal size will work fine - especially if you plan to leave it unzipped. The sleeves are not snug at all and a little long for me, but fit comfortably with elastic at the wrist. The inside pockets are large enough to carry a cell phone, a checkbook, or a wallet. If you plant to wear this as a jacket and especially if you plan to keep anything in the inside pockets while zipped, it would be a good idea to order one size up. Anything in the pockets will show bulges on the outside if you order your normal size and zip the jacket. It isn't fitted at the waist, but that's one of the things I like about it. When it isn't zipped, it doesn't flare out around the hips. The jacket also has a drawstring at the bottom if you want to pull it in at the hips. So, what do I love about this jacket? 1) Very soft and lightweight, yet warm. 2) Can be worn as a jacket for chilly weather outdoors or inside in the winter when the house is cool. 3) Has 2 zippered pockets on the outside large enough to keep a wallet or small essentials. 4) Has 2 deep pocket on the inside to carry a cell phone checkbook, wallet, or other items of similar size. 5) It doesn't have a hood which can get in the way if you have long hair, and really isn't necessary indoors or in mild weather. 6) The collar stays down and does not have to be up around the neck. 7) The zipper works great and is not at all stiff or hard to zipper. I initially bought the Bark color, which is dark brown, to figure out the size I liked best. Since I like this jacket so much, I put 4 more colors on my wish list for Christmas - rich wine (burgundy), charcoal heather (dark grey), burnt orange (can't find color name), and a medium grey (can't find color name). My husband bought all of them probably thinking I would return a couple of them. I love them all and they go with different outfit colors. So I kept them all. In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this jacket. I hope this review was helpful for you. I will update it if my opinion changes. ... show more

  • Perfect for slightly longer arms
Color: Night Shadow Size: Small
I purchased this for my granddaughter approximately 5’2”, 90lbs, slightly longer arms, it fits her perfectly. I wear the same size but for me the arms are a little too long. She wanted a solid dark grey, no extra colors, the closest I could find was dark shadow, it’s a lovely dark blue grey, she was very happy across the board. ... show more

  • Flattering and warm
Love this fleece! I actually was afraid it might be kind of frumpy based on the pictures, but it's not. I got the bright red, and it's really pretty and flattering, and I like that it's a little longer than my North Face Khumba fleece. It's relatively thin for how warm it is, but it's not super thin--which I like. I wouldn't wear this outside for extended periods of time without a jacket if it's under 40 degrees F, unless I was running or doing a very intense hike. However, it is ok alone in the icy cold temps (15-30 degrees F) if you're going to be outside for less than 10 min at a time. I really like it for running errands because in winter here, it's freezing outside and like 80 degrees inside and it's irritating having to take off and carry around a thick winter coat when you're grocery shopping. As for sizing, I'm usually a 16 (sometimes 14), usually XL (sometimes L). The XL fits great, just a little tight around the hips. In my experience, Columbia always runs small, but this jacket is pretty true to size. To compare it to the North Face Khumba fleece, I suppose I prefer the Khumba because it is a little warmer and thicker, and I need that here. However, my husband bought me the Khumba (in L, fits perfectly), for $72 (on base)--I think it's around $90 elsewhere, and the Benton Springs cost me under $30. The Benton Springs is a little thinner and not quite as warm, but equally flattering and very well made. The Columbia jacket is a much better deal, but the North Face is nice to have when you live in a place where the temperature gets well below freezing for one third of the year. ... show more

  • Exactly as advertised.
I was looking for a soft, warm, comfy jacket to wear in fall, winter and during those days where someone has the ac on too high. I would have given it 5 stars, but i wish the fleece was a bit softer. its like a camping blanket. Its got great pocket space! I don't even have to carry a handbag anymore. I can put my phone charger, phone, compact makeup, lip balm, glasses, and credit cards and id and still have room to spare! it's not baby soft, but its soft enough. good quality for the price. sometimes, the zipper gets finicky but its rare. I used to have a north face denali jacket, and frankly this jacket has a bit better quality that the north face. the pockets in this jacket are super durable, and the ones in the north face got holes pretty quickly and shed fuzzies all the time. its so comfy it feels like a pajama top. I use it as a cardigan and an outdoor coat. It works for me and the price is great. I bought the emerald/torquise color and I love it. bright and bold, but still goes with everything i usually wear. Worth the buy! ... show more
