This hiking shoe checks off all the boxes for the most part. Light, waterproof, good traction. Just be careful because the shoe comes very narrow. So be aware of this before purchasing. Otherwise good quality and value for shoe.

I purchased 2 pair of these recently and am extremely happy with my decision. I bought the black pair for work, because I work in the bar/club industry and drinks get spilled all the time. Absolutely waterproof, and comfortable for a long shift on my feet. I also bought the brown and black pair for my outdoor use and they haven't disappointed either. Crossed a small running ravine on a fishing trip over the weekend and dry as a bone when I crossed in each direction. I may order a 3rd pair because I like them that much ... show more

I purchased the waterproof Plateau sneakers in early January of this year, and now, only two months later, the soles have worn almost entirely through their tread on the front outer portion of both shoes! I know that anyone reading this may think that I’m overusing them or being too rough, but all I’ve done is go walking or hiking in them for 1-2 hours, 4-5 days per week. I contacted Columbia’s customer service through their site, as my return window with Amazon had closed by the time this issue became apparent, and they gave me the runaround and tried to just say that this is normal wear that happens. Normal shoes wear through their soles with light use after two months??? I think not! Now, my only options are to pay for shipping to have these sent to their warranty department and repaired or refunded for vendor credit if they can’t be repaired. That, or I can pay to have them resoled with a higher-quality material locally. I am not pleased with the quality of these shoes at all, and will not buy Columbia again after this. I recommend you look elsewhere if you value shoes that last more than one season. ... show more

Ordered my regular size and had no problem with the fit. 2-3 days of wearing and they break in nicely. I guess as they are designed for hiking - there's something in the sole that gives you an uplift in your step. Good value for the money.

I'm a dependable 9, but the forward area is very tight, not wide enough. I'm even thinking of even buying a shoe stretcher if they don't loosen up soon. Length is fine. I have 3 months before I NEED them. I Like the looks and style, waterproof is necessary. Rains a lot in Northern Ireland, my trip is in the spring. but if I can't wear they 8-12 hours, I made a mistake. Don't say I need a WIDE size shoe, I have never had to buy one of them. The shoe is a very odd fitment as it's properly sized for overall fitment in the toe box and width, but the shoe is nearly impossible to get on!! With laces nearly as wide as they can go, it is still near impossible to get your foot in without a major struggle. Not really uncomfortable when finally in, but if I had to guess the engineering for the instep is way too shallow from top to bottom. A terrible shoe from a company with a history of great products.
