  • Good looking boots. Solid construction at a decent price.
I write this after 10 days with the boots and about 100 miles walked. No blisters, no issues. I am satisfied. I was preparing for a trip to Glacier NP, and in looking at my current boots (Costco, $30) I could see they were about to fail. (Not complaining. A year and 1/2 is good for $30). I found these Columbias were my best choice from Amazon's offering. At $70, they appear that they will last significantly longer than the Costco's. I like the smooth toe, and they are good looking boots. Color is not not top spec, but I don't want any clown colors. They describe the color is as "Nori, Dark Banana???" To me they are khaki green with light brown details. I use the Sof Sole High Arch inserts in all my shoes. The sizing is accurate. If you have problems with your feet, you might want to double-check the size of your feet. If your smaller foot is not a little loose in the boot, your boots are too small. Seems to me that on any hiking trip with more than 3 people, one of those persons is going to be complaining about their boots all the time. Update: I bought these boots in July 2018. Currently they have been demoted to grass cutting and yard work. The soles are wearing out. The grass is 4.5 miles each week behind a self-propelled mower. Beyond those miles I walk about 20+ miles/week. These Columbia boots have out-lived two newer pairs of boots. One pair from Timberland (Amazon) and another pair by Eddie Bauer (SAMS). I was looking at my history in Amazon today trying to decide what the next boots should be. Looks like it wlll be another pair of these Columbias. They fit true to size. They are medium wide, not narrow, not too wide. They are comfortable for me. I still believe my original title is true. ... show more

  • Good, for what they're meant for...
Size: 9 Wide Color: Graphite/Black
So let's get this out of the way these are hiking boots... These are not work boots... I'm about 97% sure that they are real leather... So they can make your feet smell... They are extremely comfortable. They have great traction. But ultimately once again they are not work boots. This means that the sole is simply too soft and too thin to last very long on raw concrete or asphalt... Once again it's not what they were meant for. I used mine in a mixture of tile floor and sidewalk concrete. Not surprisingly. They did not last very long before the heel wore out... Not the boots fault not Columbia's fault. They are just not work boots... Love, the gray, beautiful looking boot actually. ... show more

  • My Reliable Companion: Columbia Men's Newton Ridge
Size: 9.5 Color: Graphite/Black
Let's talk about the Columbia Men's Newton Ridge Plus – a trusty companion that's been by my side on countless outdoor adventures. Whether I'm out on the water for a fishing trip or hitting the trails for a hike, these shoes have proven themselves time and time again. What I appreciate most about these shoes is their versatility. They're just as comfortable navigating rocky trails as they are wading through streams, providing reliable traction and support every step of the way. And let me tell you, the waterproofing is no joke – my feet stay dry even in the wettest conditions. But beyond their performance, these shoes offer a level of comfort and security that's hard to beat. The snug fit and cushioned support keep my feet feeling great, even on long days out in the wilderness. I can confidently recommend the Columbia Men's Newton Ridge to anyone in need of reliable footwear for their outdoor adventures. Trust me, these shoes won't let you down. ... show more

  • Should be everyone’s first boot and extra pair.
Great first hiking boot that have since turned into my perfect back up pair for when my main boots haven’t dried out yet. These are my go to for when I know it’s gonna rain. Comfort right out of the box with no break in needed. The toe box has lots of room and the mid section lets my fat feet rest comfortably. These are perfect for the person just getting into hiking and then are a great back up boot. You will want to up upgrade eventually, but you can’t get a better boot for the money with these. ... show more

  • Solid hiking shoe
Size: 10.5 Color: Dark Grey, Stone Green
Wanted to wait until I put a solid 30 miles on these before reviewing. So far, they are fantastic. Comfortable fit, held up on snow hikes, amazing grip. Everything i was looking for in a boot and it break the bank.

  • Great fit and Comfort
I bought these to walk the cobblestone streets in Europe. Great fit, comfortable. And best of all, these are not made in CCP China. Will buy again.

  • Your mileage may vary..........
Size: 8 Wide Color: Ti Grey Steel/Rocket
These boots fit great and are comfortable. They would work great as light hiking boots, although, I still prefer something more substantial as I think these would cause stone bruises on rocky trails. But they are great boots and for the right purpose they would be fantastic. My problem is I wanted to see if I could use them as work boots. The uppers have held up well but the soles..... that's another story. I am on concrete and asphalt and gravel all day long and they are comfortable for that. BUT, tomorrow I will have had these 2 months and the soles are almost worn smooth. In some places it looks like climbing in and out of truck steps have actually ripped off some of the traction nubs. I wasn't sure how these would do for my purposes but now I know. I already have enough light hikers so no point in replacing these. Gonna have to go back to heavy work boots, but, I enjoyed these while they lasted. At least they were cheap, but for only 2 months worth? Maybe not that cheap after all. ... show more

  • very nice shoe
Size: 9 Color: Cordovan, Squash
I'm getting ready to buy another pair after four years in my current one. Actually they still have some miles left on them. But one thing I wanted to mention, they are NOT really water proof. Maybe on the bottom, but in a heavy rain your feet are going to get wet. I just dealt with that last week. It took three days for them to altogether dry. But using a thin plastic bag between socks and shoes helps out. ... show more
