  • Make my soil hold water!
Size: 5-pack
I was amazed at how much water these bricks hold! Worked so well to not only keep water too my plants but prevent the soil from becoming rock hard!

  • Does the job.
Size: 2-pack
Packaging was a little much for just two bricks. But coir was good quality and made good quantity for making mixing in homemade potting soil.

  • Helps hold moisture
Size: 4-pack
I am new to gardening and I thought this would be a good idea. I was right these breaks up the soil and helps keep it moist. These bricks expand about 4to 5 times. The size of the bricks make it easy to use. They clean up easy just rinse off with the hose. Great quality and a good value. I highly recommend them. ... show more

  • Too much shredded
Size: 8-pack
This product is finer compared to others I’ve used. While opening the package, I noticed more dust, so I put on a mask. These are completely dry, which is actually a good thing. Once I added water, they started expanding. Although the volume wasn't very high, I expected this since they were finer. This product is ideal for starting small seeds and should mix well with other soil to improve soil quality. ... show more

  • Turtle habitat
Size: 4-pack
We use coco coir as the base bedding material for our ornamental box turtle habitat. I appreciate the convenient brick packaging for easy storage until we're ready to change out her tank. Our turtle happily buried herself in the soft coco fibers each night when she sleeps.

  • Very finely cut, somewhat dusty; overall good quality
Size: 8-pack
For starters: wear a dust mask and open the packages outside. These coir bricks are much more finely shredded than most of the other coir I have used, resulting in a lot of fine particles blowing around when you unwrap the bricks. That said, the rehydrated product is a nice texture, even when mixed with perlite to make a sterile potting mix. It is ideal for smaller seeds that are harder to plant into a coarse mixture. It's also ideal for surface-sown seeds when you don't want to lose the tiny ones into the soil. So far, it seems like these bricks are virtually sterile, as I have not noticed any mold growing in the cell trays, as I have experienced with another coir product that was supposedly sterile. These bricks also do not have much of an odor, just a slight earthy smell. One thing I noticed is that they are not as tightly compressed as most other coir, resulting in less hydrated product. The seller doesn't make any claim as to the volume of the expanded material; however, the dry weight of these eight bricks is less than 8 pounds, while the price is comparable to other products I have purchased that weigh 11 pounds each. A caution: the seller says this is suitable for pets, but please don't use it for pet snakes. The texture is too fine, making it easily inhaled. They could also get a mouthful when striking at their prey. A coarser coir would be more suitable for snakes. ... show more

  • Fine powder, disappointed
Size: 2-pack
This is dust, it soaked up the water and disappeared, not the quality item that I have purchased in the past. Do not recommend.

  • Love coir
Size: 8-pack
Coco coir is a GREAT replacement for Peat Moss (a threatened product that harvesting actually adds to the carbon weight of the planet). Coir works similarly to Peat, and is cheaper, renewable at a cheaper, higher rate than Peat (peat is built over EONS; coir is harvested rapidly and renewed rapidly). It works well as a substrate alone or as an amendment; works well as a container liner; works well for seeding. It retains and drains water off well, and can hold a lot without needing to resoak it every day. It may have a slight carbon or nitrogen charge on it, but so long as you are monitoring your plants, you can easily correct any imbalances before they get bad. ... show more
