  • These are such a blast
Size: 2 Pack
I'm going to have to get a DMX controller someday to enjoy the capability, but just the sound activated mode is pretty fun to use and creates a cool atmosphere. These are very lightweight and plastic, but they're pretty bright. If you happen to look into them they're blinding, and they light up my living room pretty well. I don't know how they would look on a stage however, but I'm satisfied with the brightness. I had to look up what PAR meant (Parabolic Aluminized Reflector), but these are actually focused with lenses I believe, so you're able to have a flat "PAR" light and it does focus into a beam very well. I'm not familiar with DMX commands at all, so the instructions were pretty confusing to me and I can't figure out a few things. I'm going to need more practice to learn how to use the number keypad for controlling parameters, but the pre-programmed modes are pretty neat and work well. There are built in cooling fans on these. I just tested them out through a couple of songs and they're not really hot yet, and it did require me to turn up the music kind of loud to get them to sync up with the drum beats. There might be a sensitivity setting I don't know, but anyway, I like these a lot and I'm glad I got them. I can't wait to put them to good use, thank you very much. ... show more

  • Good with Fog or Wash Lighting
Size: 2 Pack
This is my second pair of par lights, used to add a little color & ambience for my dance floor and DJ area. I think the key with these is you have to have realistic expectations. While they seem relatively large and they would throw out serious light, these will not "light up the night" but are more of an accent light. So, if you are a rare DJ that uses fog, these will definitely light up the fog, causing it to reflect the chosen colors. Also, these work relatively well as "wash lights" if placed next to a light-colored wall and pointed almost parallel with the wall. If you had a thin, light colored drape on your DJ table, they would also work well to light it up from the inside, assuming the drape is not too opaque. Just pointed out into the room, they don't seem to do a lot, unless they are aimed at head level and you just want a little pop around your DJ table/booth. Usually, I just set them on sound activated and they do a decent job of changing with the bass beat of most songs. The strobe function seemed to me to provide the most powerful and noticeable light, but wouldn't want to leave that on. Maybe for a song or two. The remotes work fairly well if you are close and if they are pointed in the general direction of the light. I do wish they'd use remotes with something like Bluetooth so the direction wouldn't matter and you could mount a few remotes on a strip and use them as needed with one finger, vs. having to pick them up and aim them. These also have the universal lighting connectors in the back, including the ability to "chain" one to another if you have a DMX board/controller. You can get budget versions of these on Amazon for $60-$100 if you want to dip you toe in the water and experiment. For me, I want my attention on the music, which matters a lot more to the dancers. Since these lights are 20 bucks each, you can't expect them to be bullet proof, so you'll need to pack them carefully between shows if you want them to last for a few years. They are mainly plastic with metal legs. So, decent features, good value, decent light -- four stars. ... show more

  • We absolutely LOVE these lights
We haven’t permanently installed these lights yet as we are in the middle of building out another pool deck and want the lights positioned high. For now we simply plus this in and set it on a table angled in the water. One single light is bright and lights up the pool. With two it’s even more awesome. The quality feels professional and heavy duty. These aren’t outdoor lights, so they do need to be protected from the elements. We’d definitely buy again. ... show more

  • works well, good for casual non-commercial use
These lightweight PAR lights works well and are inexpensive. Like anything, they have pluses and minuses. Pros - good level of brightness, colors look good - has a remote to access modes if not using DMX. Just point it at the front of the device. - has LED on the back to indicate current mode - has manual push button controls on the back if you don’t have the remote Cons - fan is a little loud, but shouldn’t be an issue at the sound levels these types of lights are typically used at. - DMX plugs are 3 pins, instead of the more standard 5. This may require 5 to 3 pin adapters. - sound based activation requires a decent amount of volume and it doesn’t seem to be configurable - plastic body would not survive rough handling - not UL or ETL listed These are great for more casual use or a permanent installation. They may not hold up for a DJ or musical group that is constantly moving / setting up / taking down equipment since they are plastic. Some venues also require all UL/ETL equipment for insurance purposes which these are not. Where these shine is for non-commercial setups at small parties. I have not tested DMX512 control at this point as I don’t have the equipment. There is no reason to believe they won’t work just fine. All the functions from the remote worked well once I played around with it and figured things out. There is a short manual. ... show more
