looks good, works great, minimal runout, and surprisingly quiet. everything came packaged neatly, and worked right out of the box. the only thing i didn't like was there was no real documentation with any of it, aside from a single paper showing the same basic wiring diagram they show above. no driver documentation, or details on how to run the driver with PWM for example. otherwise this is worth every penny i spent on it

Cons: Hasn't once hit 9000rpm, even at full blast. Hovers around 8800ish, verified by an optical tachometer. Power supply provided is cheap with an always-on fan rather than thermostat control -- not that great for dusty environments, fan bearings have begun to fail. Has a resonance for me (with any cutter) at 8400, so must avoid that RPM. Pros: has been reliable for years 2 years of intermittent cutting. Doesn't generally exceed 50c. Cheap. Easy to setup.

The media could not be loaded. This is quite a good spindle, I highly recommend getting it if you're considering upgrading from the stock spindle of a 3020/3018 machine. I did end up 3D printing a new impeller and shroud because I didn't feel the stock setup provided enough airflow for cooling through the spindle. In addition to the new impeller and shroud, I drilled the small threaded holes that the air comes out a bit bigger for more airflow. Another upgrade is to replace the provided speed controller with one that does sensorless FOC (Field-Oriented Control). In addition to adding closed-loop speed control, I was able to achieve a much greater torque at slower speeds with the new controller. Though, for prolonged use a slower speeds it may be worth looking into adding a separately powered cooling fan rather than one powered by the spindle shaft.

Motors is quiet and runout seems great. However, it shipped with a faulty potentiometer. This led to all kinds of headaches getting it running, as it worked intermittently and liked to change RPM on its own. I spent more opportunity cost in my time diagnosing this issue than I paid for the motor kit, which is frustrating. Overall however the kit is a good value. I suspect the cheap/shoddy potentiometer could be responsible for others' issues, so if you have a 10k potentiometer sitting around I'd plan to replace this one immediately.
