It was quite straightforward to assemble, kind of like legos but more metal. The quality of the CNC is quite good for what it's priced at and it cuts pretty well. I've been able to accurately cut PCBs even with the default setup.

This is my initial review covering the packaging and installation. If you are thinking of purchasing this make sure you go to You tube and look up James Dean Designs. He has a whole series of videos covering the 3018 cnc routers and they are excellent. I ignored the documentation that came with it and used his installation video and it was easy. Couple of caveats on this model. I ordered it because it included sides. There is no documentation for them and the only bolts the were left over are really a little long. I went to Lowe's and replaced them. Also, I haven't done more than test the motion because the "set" of bits that came with it turned out to be all the same "v" bit, which wasn't what I needed for my first project. So order a set of bits along with the device. But all in all I am satisfied so far and will update this once I have done a few projects. ... show more

Keeping in mind the size and power limit the work you can do, this is a remarkably solid little unit. More for carving/engraving and some "Light" mill work & routing. I found the assembly easy and had it running within a couple of hours. The software is crap (but I knew that going in) but there is plenty of good, free software out there that make getting started straight forward. More advanced Mill/routing work will have a steeper learning curve but that's in the CAD/CAM software, not the unit. The unit I got didn't come with a Z probe or limit switches (I knew that when I ordered) but the driver board is set up to accept them. I recommend adding the, I did. The newer Woodpecker 3.4 control board is not set up to receive an E-stop switch which it should (the older Cronos Maker board was so equiped). I'll wire mine into the DC Power line. A fair amount of upgrades are available but the base unit, as delivered, is solid. Plenty of You Tube tutorials for this unit are out there, Which I found to be of great help. All in all, Very satisfied. ... show more

No homing switches - these cost less than $1 USD each especially if buying in bulk despite being support for them. Item was shipped with extra parts not mentioned in the setup instructions shipped along with it. Flash Drive containing digital resources was dead on arrival. Since I don't have access to the software that's "supposed" to be used, using pcb2gcode netted gcode that i needed to be manually edited since this device apparently doesn't support the tool change command and any time it is called, causes the machine to halt until the job is cancelled. ... show more

I have been tinkering with the machine for a few months and everything seemed good. Finally decided to put it to work making plates and come to find out it is a lemon. If you buy it because of the price, Triple check everything on this one before your return period expires. Mine came with two bent x axis optical guide rails which makes it useless. ... show more
