Overall it is a good unit and it works. It does detect particles and does ramp up. During the wildfire issues in Chicago it was running at a higher level than normal. When we open windows to the house it does ramp up. It usually runs around 1-3 with the AC on. The noise is fine on the lowest 2 settings, but does have a droning sound to it. The biggest issue with it is the fan logic. The fan speed increments are based on predefined curves for PPM. The problem is when your PPM level is at the middle point of 2 curves the unit ends up ramping the fan speed up and down and the PPM level fluctuates by 1. There is no buffer in the curves to account for this and so the unit just speeds up and slows down which is annoying. For this reason we usually set it to a manual fan speed at bedtime. The unit is a bit cheaper than others but that cost is offset by the filter cost. It's like an HP printer. Our filter lasted 7.5 months and never went above a fan speed of 2 so the filter replacement logic is probably based off that. It does catch some dust and we do vacuum the filter surface every month or so. Overall it's decent, but not life changing. ... show more

Heavy rains produced a lot of pollen and allergies. I have a small house, but figured I would try it out in the room I use most during the day. When I plugged it in it told me my air was unhealthy. In 3 hours, the PPM measured half, that evening they were down to 02 ppm. I decided to move it back to my bedroom, and it measured the same! Once it cleared the air it is very quiet. Only boosting the fan when I fry foods in the other end of the house to clear the air. In the last month I have reduced the use of allergy meds by 50%, mostly need when I go outside! ... show more

Everyone that says this product is loud or doesn't work needs to send theirs back and get another one. Mine is awesome works great and only is loud if we are cooking. My house was like at 120 bad air quality it ran for a he is so and we were down to 4 it is very noticeable going into my house how fresh and nice the air is inside now. I only have this one in the living room and I can notice some difference room to room so I plan to get the smaller version to go in each bedroom and one in the dining area by the kitchen. This thing works knocks out the kitchen smoke and most of the smell quick I mean you can still smell the food but not the smoke or anything and once the food is out away the food smell goes away fast. ... show more

I bought this not thinking it would do much, but was pleasantly surprised. Normally the digital readout is in single digits. I live in the northeast and we have had some poor air quality days from the forest fire smoke out of Canada. The numeric readout for the air quality and on the hazy days from the smoke had jumped up quite a bit, close to 100 with my doors open. Once we realize where the poor air quality was coming from, we closed up the house and eventually got the air quality down to under 20. And when the air finally cleared in a few days it was back to single digits. Also another unexpected improvement was the reduction of dust in the house. In the past I had to dust on a fairly regular basis but with the air cleaner running it has all but eliminated that chore. Remote operation only works if connected to Alexa, it does work fine manually too since it's basically turn on and forget about it. There is no app to control it other than through Alexa, even though the description and pictures on Amazon looks like there is an actual app. ... show more

It senses when it needs to turn on/up to handle something like a burst of ash from the recent fires coming in on a gust of wind, or a friend lighting up a smoke. I bought this because we were experiencing very poor air quality this summer from the wildfires up north. Shipping was fast. It is easy to set up - I just plugged it in, turned it on, set it to auto (as recommended by instructions) and let it do its thing. I also checked the compartment on the bottom, and it looks like it is really easy to change out the filter when the time comes. Also want to mention that there is a colored light and a numerical rating so it is easy to see how the air quality changes and then improves in your space. Before I buy this product, I have search a lot of purifiers on Amazon, and final I chose this because It has active carbon filter that can eliminate toxic air . It works well, the sound is ok , it is quiet enough for sleeping. My son has allergic to dust or something, Since I used the purifier, my son get better. It is great ! My husband has leaukemia (AML) and is very neutropenic. We wanted something that would keep the air clean and filtered in our home as an extra precaution. We bought this large one for our master bedroom and the medium sized one for his office. It has definitely given us piece of mind since having them. We like how it always displays the level of the air quality in the rooms and the fan adjusts automatically to compensate. Not sure if it is due to the purifiers or not but he has not had to be admitted to the hospital for infection since using these (he was admitted 3 times prior to using these). We are so glad we bought these. You can also turn off the light on the unit for sleeping if you are sensitive to light at night (I am). These are also lightweight and easy to move. After his transplant we will be isolating him in a different room and this will be easy to move into that room. If for nothinhg else, this gives us piece of mind. ... show more
