  • I absolutely LOVE this mascara
Color: AB Black Onyx
I don’t often write reviews, but this mascara is so dang awesome that I had to come throw in my two cents’. TL;dr: Amazing daytime/natural mascara. Easy to apply. Set it and forget it. Sooo easy to remove – if you do it the right way (hint: warm water mini-soak, NOT makeup remover, pulling, or rubbing). Choose a different mascara for a heavy/evening look. 1) If you want a natural-looking mascara with light-medium weight, this is fantastic for that. Loved it the moment I tried it. I stopped wearing a lot of makeup in the last few years (especially foundation) and actually like my own face better now, what a concept. But I have the stupid situation of having very long, thick natural lashes (yay), except they’re so blonde/light that no one can see them (boo), which makes it like having no eyelashes at all, /laughcry. That’s where this comes in for me – and tbh what I’ve been looking for an effortless daily mascara for a while. I can put just a light coat on my eyelashes and they get to actually exist in all their glory. That said, if I wanted a medium-heavy/evening look or something infinitely buildable, sure, this probably isn’t the mascara for that and I would go with a different product. But for everyday/natural-looking mascara that doesn’t require a hazmat team to remove, I’m now looking forward to using this daily. It’s really pretty and my partner commented on how nice it looked. 2) READ THE INSTRUCTIONS Y’ALL. Sure, it’s in 6pt font on the box, but it does say to use warm water to remove. This is NOT normal mascara that sits like wet paint or hair product on top of your eyelashes, and then you rub it to death with soap/remover to take it off. This is tube mascara, which is like a little dry shell around each of your lashes. It’s more like nail polish or gum, lol, where you don’t just start pulling on it. That said, this is hands down the EASIEST and gentlest mascara I have ever removed. Zero raccoon eyes! While washing your face normally, simply cup your hand(s) and fill with (pleasantly, not overly) warm water, then hold up to your eyes/eyelashes and let them “soak” in the water for a few seconds; do this a couple times until you can’t see any more mascara. Splash water on your face to rinse; do NOT rub your eyes or try to pull it off the lashes. The idea is to get water into the dried-on tubes so they lose their grip and merely slide off your eyelashes. You’ll see little mascara crumbs that rinse right off. If you don’t want to wash your entire face, it takes a little bit longer – a cotton ball or washcloth corner soaked with warm water and held to your eyes 2-3 times will totally do the trick. Gennnntly dab away the mascara once it’s soaked. Don’t think I’ve spent more than 30-60 seconds with either method. So fast and easy. (Bonus: don’t have to buy expensive/oily remover and you can take it off just about anywhere!) 3) Dayum Gina, I do not miss the raccoon eyes! My last mascara would always get smudgy at the corners after a few hours because of my moisturizer or, you know, just existing too hard. Or would somehow cement itself under my eyes if I forgot to scrub at it in the shower. (Side note: My pry-it-from-my-cold-dead-hands moisturizer now is a pea-sized amount of Alaffia raw shea butter mixed into a smooth cream with a few drops of Trader Joe’s jojoba oil – my hormonal acne has never thanked me more, my skin has never looked better, it doesn’t cause breakouts or irritation, and I don’t have to spend $60/bottle for something that probably uses those ingredients anyway!) Anyway, because the mascara is completely dry/hardened and not at all oily, it can survive a variety of daily abuse, including seasonal allergies. (Just hope your tears aren’t too hot, or try to dunk your head in a hot tub, lol, since warm water is what removes it.) I’ve even done physical activity with nary a shadow in sight. Bravo, Clinique. So yeah, love this. Keeps my eyes happy and comfortable especially when wearing contacts. Just set your expectations accordingly. ... show more

  • My go-to, very best everyday mascara. Stays on all day but easy to remove.
Color: AB Black Onyx
This is hands-down my favorite everyday mascara. I have been using it for at least 10 years. A few times I thought I had found something better, but no, back to this, it’s better. I used to buy from Sephora, but they no longer carry it, so it’s either direct from Clinique or buying from Amazon, the latter being most convenient. Here’s what I love about this mascara: it applies beautifully, with definition and lengthening. Doesn’t clump, until you get to the bottom of the tube, and even then, not badly. It’s build-able too, so I can add an extra coat or two for going out in the evening. Last but not least- it stays on all day, no flaking or smudging, yet I can completely wash it off with non-irritating facial cleanser, no need for a separate eye makeup remover (I can’t stand those). ... show more

  • Long wearing and wash’s off with water.
Color: AA Dark Chocolate
Great tubing mascara, & it comes in brown as well as black. Stays on a day without leaving raccoon eyes.

  • Tubing strategy keeps lashes safe.
Color: AB Black Onyx
I love this mascara. I use it like a primer as the first layer under other waterproof mascaras. That makes it water/sweat & smudge proof while still easy to remove. Just slips off when I use waterproof makeup remover without leaving me racooned. If I use other waterproof mascaras I loose lashes. Highly recommended as long as they still make it. If it becomes hard to find, just leave it for me to continue buying. ... show more

  • CLASSIC NATURAL LOOK
Color: AA Dark Chocolate
I like the classic natural look I get from the skinny applicator brush. The mascara stays put on my lashes and lasts all day. The tube lasts only a couple months before it starts to dry out, but the experts say we should replace our mascara every few months so I guess that's a good thing. I have it on Subscribe and Save so I'm never without. ... show more

  • Dries Slowly, Clumps and Flakes Easily
Color: AA Dark Chocolate
I have really sensitive eyes and have been looking for the right mascara for me for a while. The formula of this one is great for my sensitivity, but the drawbacks are that it clumps easily, flakes off, and dries really slowly compared to other mascaras, which leaves more time in which to mess them up. ... show more

  • different than typical mascara, but sooo much better.
Color: AA Dark Chocolate
This mascara is AMAZING. perfect for a wispy look. more natural. i love it tons, and it’s super easy to remove. I will say, the only downfall is there is a bit of a learning curve. With my other/regular mascara i can add a second coat, make it thinker or lighter, use a spoolie and manipulate the look quite a bit. but with this you have to focus on one eye at a time. once it dries, it’s not moving unless you wash it off (lightly rubbing with warm water, like fr don’t use makeup wipes/remover). it like glues to your lashes, so focus CLOSELY on one eye until you have the exact look you want. i know it sounds a little complicated, but it’s not. it’s just different and personally i think it’s much better. p.s. i did curl my lashes before putting on mascara. and this is one coat. ... show more
