  • I genuinely really like these!
Color: Stone
I've had a lot of headphones. Some really good ones (for consumer-average audiophile grade). I had some Sony XM4 over ears, SoundCore Space Q45, Fiil T1 Pro, Liberty 3 Pro, TaoTronics Soundsurge 90, Earfun Free 2 and the best ones I've had were the Bang & Olufsen H9. That said these are quite good hanging well with most of those mentioned and some of them are much more expensive, especially when on sale. The ANC works pretty well. Not up to Sony or Bose QC standards but those are class leaders and much more $. Their passive noise isolation does a lot to help that though. They have a real solid more weighty build and will block out a lot already as-is without ANC on. Pass through mode is pretty impressive. It's adjustable and has almost no perceivable hiss or digitized effect but yet sounds come through very well and it's adjustable 1 to 10 levels which is a great perk. They're very comfortable. I always have slight soreness on my outer ears after longer usage sessions but these do it the least. They have a pretty even and flat tuning. Maybe very slightly V shaped but less than most headphones will try to pass off. There's some nice low end sub extension that some headphones lack too much of but bass is generally slightly on the mellow side for bassheads like me and probably slightly strong for more true audiophile taste flat preference listeners. Highs are good and crisp I would say very slightly sibilant (shrillness) for people sensitive to that as I am. I was able to eq it down pretty easily with Viper4Android. Didn't take much a few db down dip in the 2.5k-5k range. AptX adaptive certainly helps with the quality so I would recommend using on Android if you can. I don't get why Apple is so behind on codecs and audio in general (aside from forcing their own to buy their own of course). Windows lacks it too but that's a hardware issue for them. You can buy an adapter if you really want it on a PC/laptop I find the Dirac Virtuo soundstage widening effect actually does work pretty well. It seems to shine best with rock/indie/country types of music but in general makes a nice difference and doesn't sound fake and heavily reverbed like I was expecting. It does add a more widened and live feel especially once you've been wearing them for a little while and you start to feel them less, you can sort of forget they're on and sometimes feel almost like you're at a live show! ... show more

  • A great option if you want quality for a fair price
Color: Midnight Blue
I wish there were more people talking about these. I was very pleased to discover this brand and these headphones. For the price especially, what you get is extremely decent. The sound quality is good, and the headset is comfortable to wear. The build is solid and the materials feel like quality. Nothing feels cheap. The noise cancelling could stand to be a tad better and some sound does bleed out of them a bit, but neither are bad and I'd still say the noise cancelling is solid if not stupendous. I especially personally get a lot of traction out of the ability to toggle in and out of conversation mode with a palm touch. It's come in very handy when I need to talk to my wife while I'm listening to something. Aesthetically these are probably the prettiest headphones I've personally owned. I had a hard time picking between the two colors, and they look even better in person. The one thing I could say is I wish there were a few more color options, though I'm very happy with the midnight blues I went with. Overall it's a solid buy and definitely a smart purchasing decision if you want something beefy under $300. Will definitely keep my eye on this brand in the future. For now, I think my headphone situation is gonna be set for a while. ... show more

  • Very Nice - Slightly Fatiguing After Long Usage
Color: Stone
I got these primarily for Working from Home, hoping the microphones would work better for meetings, etc. They do work pretty well for that use case. I have not had any issues with the multipoint functionality (phone + PC connected simultaneously). There appears to be some sound leakage though, as my family tells me they can sometimes hear the other end of calls, which may be a deal-breaker long-term. They also cause a bit of discomfort after many hours of continuous use though, which is mainly why I didn't give these five stars. That being said - the sound from these over Bluetooth is very good. What listening I've done of music has been very pleasant. I don't hear any sibilance or obvious voids in music. Bass is full, but not over-emphasized. Tiny musical details are heard, both in quiet and loud passages. That's making me go back and listen to music I haven't heard in a long time, just for fun. I don't hear any distortion or hiss. I'm using AptX codec with my Android phone with fairly high sampled MP3s, but my phone doesn't have support for high-bitrate or low-latency Aptx flavors. The Dirac audio expansion adds a nice lift to the sound most of the time. Not sure it's as wide a sound stage as I was expecting from it though. The sound stage never really feels like it's "outside of my head" with or without Dirac enabled. But sound with Dirac enabled is still natural and pleasant. I've been leaving it turned on, just for fun. Plugging in to the analog input also sounds very good, but obviously no longer supports EQ or Dirac features from the Cleer App. Analog audio still works great with the headphones powered off though, which is cool. Voice prompts can be a little loud at times. I wish there was a setting to adjust the levels for those. The build quality and finish are very good, and so far the gesture based controls have not been too tricky to get used to. The precise swipe position for pausing playback or answering a call is something that takes some practice to get used to though. My point of comparison reference for audio quality is a pair of Jabra headphones. These Cleer headphones do sound a bit better than those, but not sure yet if the differences were big enough to be worth the cost of purchasing these or not (and I got these Cleer phones on sale). The Jabra headset is lighter and causes less discomfort after long usage, so they may end up being my go-to for work after all. But I'm still liking these Cleer headphones overall. Edit 03/31/2023 - I still like and use these Cleer headphones, but just thought I would add that I occasionally hear interference on Bluetooth sound from either phone or PC when I'm holding and using my phone. Not sure if the phone's wi-fi is causing interference or what, but it's an occasional annoyance. I have also had had occasional reports that I suddenly sound "like a robot" in meetings - possibly another indicator of signal interference or something. ... show more
