The thickness, quality and effectiveness of these knee pads are great. Been doing flooring for over 30 years and have tried different knee pads and these are the ones I always go back to.

Style: Double-Thick Leather Kneepads
I’ma welder and on my knees for extended periods of time. These are helpful. They are very sturdy, stiff, heavy leather with a good leather strap. The buckle could have been quiet larger. Not very comfortable for walking around with them on. Would recommend.

Style: Double-Thick Leather Kneepads
These are my 3rd pair of these knee pads, originally I bought 2 pairs that had lasted me for over 10 year's. I had to keep one pair clean, for working on delicate flooring, yet I forgot to adequately condition the leather and both knee straps broke, because the straps had became brittle and broke. Yet this didn't happen until after ten year's of use and abuse. This set of knee pads look as tough as the 1st two pairs, and like those these need to be broken in for your body. Unlike the rubber plastic style knee pads that make your knees sweat and pinch your leg-knee area, these leather knee pads only have one strap that goes behind the knee. And once they soften up or break in, they can be worn all day without any major discomfort. A good leather conditioner is highly recommended not only will it soften the leather it will help soften them which adds to one's comfort. After about two year's the felt will compress, the leather will soften and they'll fit like gloves for your knees, however comfort on the knees might be lacking, so I learned long ago to buy a cheap pair of those memory foam pads and slide the memory foam pad under the felt and between the leather. Doing this one trick is why the 1st 2 pairs lasted over ten year's. That and the occasional leather conditioner will keep these pads functional and comfortable for year's to come. Hopefully these will be my last knee pads as I've been working on my knees for over 35 year's, and I wish I had found these earlier in life. So if you're young and looking to stay working for decades protect your knees and these CLC knee pads will help you do this. ... show more

  • Are they worth the money? Short answer yes
Style: Double-Thick Leather Kneepads
Stiff as hell when you first get them. But it’s to be expected from leather. This is my second pair and they def stand up to a lot of things. They just last when compared to their knee pads. Best knee pads when around anything hot or just welding in the summer time. For the price and the durability you can’t beat them. Ya they aren’t the most comfortable but anything rubber is going to get burnt smooth up. Can’t go wrong with these ... show more

  • Buy them.
Style: Double-Thick Leather Kneepads
I don't know why you don't already use these. They look like "old style" knee pads. That's because they are. And they are the best you will ever use too. Don't go cheap and get a .5. Inch. Get the full inch. You are worth it. 30 years working. Knees like a baby, thanks to these guys. Love ya. Take care of yourself. ... show more

  • Comfortable and durable, room for improvement, though.
Style: Double-Thick Leather Kneepads
After wearing these for over a year now off and on for lengthy periods of time, I've found these to be live savers on my knees. But after 40 hours of straight knees from start to finish, these even wear thin enough to the point my knees are screaming at me to get off them. The extra padding like all padding will go, but it's still thicker and feels way better than thinner kneepads, I know, I've had co-workers buy these kneepads over any other now because of how I boasted them being so comfortable. However, CLC sells 2 different kinds of these kneepads, one that is thinner lining and these ones. I would strongly suggest these ones for the extra padding, they are around the same price. Either way, you can do 2 things to help customize them: 1 - add a more firm foam pad underneath the leather and in between the padding. 2 - add another strap to the top area where the leather bends. I've noticed a HORRIBLE design flaw with these when climbing ladders, I know they are not meant for that, but if they are ever worn, and you travel up a ladder, keep your legs back -- if they catch, they can almost guide you into falling off. You can easily lose your balance to the point I've heard the same happening to several when wearing them. You just don't think about kneepads when you need to fetch something, or travel from spot to spot quickly. But if you do simple indoor work, tile, finish, etc. you should be fine wearing these. I would still suggest some dense foam padding underneath, because as I've said, prolonged periods of knee-to-ground exposure doesn't render these kneepads as effective as they should be. I got the foam pad idea from a buddy who complained about his kneepads, took some cheap dense foam 4$ kneepads and cut them down, shoved them in and caulked. He loves them now and I liked his idea. As a leather smith hobbyist I've noticed their choice of leather seems a bit stiff and rough, I've thought of replacing them with other types of leather straps to see if they sit more comfortably while you're bent. Apparently they updated the color to a nice 'brown' oiled look. I personally liked the old undyed color, it allows them to age beautifully like leather does. ... show more
