I got this for my kid's wind tunnel science project. The light won't stay on long enough for us to take a photo to record the measurement. Big bummer on that. Horrible. I would not buy another one. Hard to tell about the accuracy. It read a factor of 1.5 different from my old passive plastic windsurfing wind gauge, which I think is within 20% or so.     • great gadget with some limitations
it works great until it is exposed to high heat from either the sun or a heating element. the blades are made of very thin plastic which is great for sensitivity but not great if you are any where near high heat. the blades will literally melt and stop rotating.

    • Works well to a point...aka 60mph.
Good for about 60mph. I don't know how fast a kestrel would work either though. I was hoping for at least 99mph...but it's hard enough driving 75 with your arm out the window. Thermometer seems very accurate.
