I ordered the "Affordamatic" in a bundle with the 10.5" cool gel memory foam mattress. I didn't think added features such as a USB port, massage, memory settings, etc of the other Classic Brand adjustable bed model would be important to my expected usage and I had to buy a bed quickly, without any planning/budgeting because I was ready to murder my husband after having months of poor sleep due to his snoring...it was a crisis situation, fix the lack of sleep issue now or go to prison tomorrow. So I made the decision to go with what I thought would solve the problem at the most accessible price point, this bed did all that, it was comfortable and just raising the head of the bed a few inches completely stopped my husband's snoring. I slept a solid eight hours for the first time in over a year, I was thrilled...it met all my needs and expectations- but there's more to the story! When the bed frame arrived I immediately found a problem with the foot motor; there is a plastic sleeve guide that keeps the piston in alignment as the bed changes position and this part wasn't secured properly by its rivets like the head motor was, allowing the piston end to slide out of the motor housing support. I could not push the piston back into the correct position because the rivets that were supposed to be holding it would not allow full insertion, so when the foot was elevated, the piston would get out of alignment, and wobble and I just knew this was going to end badly. I contacted Classic Brands customer service by phone the next day. All I had to do was e-mail a picture of the product tags (for identification) and my amazon invoice. I thought they would order a part, but they sent out a completely new bed base the same day I sent the requested information, it was delivered the next day....but WAIT! There's more! You need to know this bed frame is HEAVY... do not plan on moving it alone, no matter who you are, and if you are like me, over 40 and not in the gym as often as you should be, get your 20-something kids to move it for you, especially if you have to go up a flight of stairs, like we did. So I knew a new bed was coming and I really DID NOT want to move the original because it is so heavy and awkward. The motors pop in and out easily with cotter pins, and the power/control cables have modular connections. I was planning on just taking the foot motor off the new bed and swapping it with the old one to save my back. HOWEVER, when the new frame was delivered, it wasn't the same economy version, they sent me the "fancy" upgraded one with the memory remote, USB ports, massage etc... The motors were the same but the new frame was....sexy, I couldn't pass it up. It had better aesthetics, the frame upholstery was nicer and a little more built-up. It also had adjustable height legs and I had just downsized from a 16" thick conventional king mattress bed to a 10.5" gel foam queen and was feeling really low to the ground so being able to raise my sleeping surface back up a few more inches was nice. The USB ports I didn't really care about, my husband made the comment that he thought it was odd they were on only one side of the bed and it seemed that would just contribute to marital conflict...but maybe the design is intended to make you snuggle up close to share power ports? I guess it's all up to your point of view and you really shouldn't be using your devices in bed anyway, poor sleep hygiene :) Anyway, the memory remote features are TOTALLY worth the upgrade. It has a preset button for TV viewing, "zero gravity" and the most important "Anti-snore" positions, and they are literally perfect as programmed. The massage feature- these are basically "rumble packs" with different patterns of vibration and a timer. One pack at the foot and one at the head. I don't know, it's ok I guess, but not a dealbreaker for me. One setting I find very similar to sitting on an idling Ford 8N tractor, and another like sleeping with a very large purring cat...I like them both of those settings because I like my cat and tractors...but others might not find the experience as special. Two other things that made me think the upgrade would be worthwhile for people debating between the Affordamatic and the upgrade are that the upgraded one has a 9-volt battery back-up so if you are without power you can still move the bed components, which may be important if you are a little less nimble. The upgraded bed remote also has a built-in flashlight, another handy feature in a power-outage situation or in general. I also found the upgraded remote control pictograms to be clearer/better which might be a consideration if you planned to have this in a guest room. So what am I recommending here? If you really only need the most basic function of adjustable head and foot you will be pleased with this bed, I was...but if you are riding the fence between the extra cost of the comfort upholstered model, I would encourage you to go with the extras. Either way, the customer support from Classic Brands was outstanding, no-hassle what-so-ever and I thought being upgraded to the better base was a very nice surprise compensation for having to deal with repacking the old, defective bed.     • Great bed base for the price!
I just got this bed base yesterday and I'm giving it 5 stars at this point. If anything changes, I will edit my review. I was a little skeptical after reading some low star ratings, but for the price I was willing to take the chance. It looked like the parts could easily be replaced if needed and there is a 3 year warranty on the bed. I called customer service at 877-707-7533 and it is a working phone number for Classic Brands so I felt pretty confident. As with anything ordered on the internet, you take a chance. Also, if there are electronic components or motors I am not surprised if something malfunctions. Review: I really like this bed base for the price (Queen was $496.07 with tax and free delivery) and I researched a lot of them. Being able to adjust the head and foot positions is truly a luxury that everyone should enjoy. It adds the ability to be comfortable for sleeping, watching TV, meditating, typing an Amazon review, etc. The other plus was being able to remove my Queen panel bed headboard and frame. I have a small bedroom right now and I think I gained about 1 foot of space at the foot and 4 inches on either side of the bed. We placed the bed base about 1 inch from the wall. Granted it's not a wall hugger model, but the price was right. I previously bought a bed base with a mattress from a mattress store that only had head incline and I paid more for that 6 months ago. That bed base went into the guest room and this is the replacement. The reason that I chose to be economical is because I really want to replace my queen size bed with a split king size bed. Since that will be very expensive, I decided to do this first and this will become a guest bed in the future (a very nice one for a guest!). The bed base was delivered in the window that was set. The box was in great shape and I chose to have the box delivered to the room of my choice (no additional charge) and asked the delivery people to place the box in my hallway upstairs. My boyfriend is much stronger than me so he took charge of putting it together. Normally, I handle mechanical assembly, but I was cooking dinner. He had the bed frame together in less than an hour which tells me that the instructions were very good. The only thing he said is that it is very heavy. I helped turn the bed over and place it in position, but I don't see that as a negative. I want a solid piece of furniture that is going to hold around 300 pounds (two people). Remote: 1) I'm noticing that the "Head Up" button sometimes takes a harder push, but I'll just request a new remote if it becomes a hassle, but I'm finding it difficult to search for replacement wireless remote. I can probably find a control box and wireless remote combination eventually. 2) I got a manual that was for a different control box used in my bed base. The instructions say to press and hold the red reset button to program the Zero-G, TV/PC, and Lounge button on the remote, but I don't have this button. I googled program Classic Brands wireless remote and found that my "gray" control box is programmed differently. It's actually, much simpler to program the remote with this control box. All I had to do was get the bed in the position that I wanted and hold down the button to be programmed plus the "flat" button at the same time. I heard a beep and I was set. USB built-in: Nice feature! I plugged my phone into one of the 2 USBs and placed the phone on my night stand. I think a pouch on the side of the bed would be nice to store the phone, remote, and/or tablet, but I can customize something and place it where I want. Massage: I didn't buy this bed for the massage feature and knew that I would probably dislike it and I did. Some people will like the vibration feature and that's exactly what it is. I find it very annoying and I can hear it vibrating downstairs which is actually kinda funny. It reminds me of the vibrating hotel beds from the 70s, but I'm sure some people will love this feature. Adjustable Legs: Nice feature! We have it on the highest level, but will probably take it down because it's much more comfortable to watch TV while looking slightly up. I have my TV mounted a little higher and tilted down so that I don't have to tilt my head forward to be inline with it. Bottom line: This is a good price for an adjustable bed base with many features. If you are resourceful in Googling issues that arise you will be fine. In all honesty, I figured I would just buy a replacement motor after the warranty if needed. These bases are really not all that technical and they have linear motors that I can probably find on eBay, Amazon, or a compatible replacement. ... show more

I have had the frame for a year and a half and it still works perfectly. it was very easy to setup and it's very sturdy. for about a year we had some larger people using the bed often 2 people at a time and we haven't had any issues at all. I started using the bed a few weeks ago and I'm surprised it still works as good as the day I assembled it. if were a queen or larger I would keep it for myself. The only complaint would be the vibration is really just a gimmick. It does vibrate but with a 10" foam mattress is not that useful ... show more

We bought the split king nearly 5 years ago and it works just as well now as it did the day we bought it! We have it in a bed frame with thick side rails, so we don’t use the USB plug feature. I adjust it to my specific needs and I use the vibrating feature each night. It runs for about a half hour max, depending on how I set it. Likes; It arrived in perfect condition (it's well packaged), despite the package weighing 100+ pounds. It was easy to assemble, with not a single scratch on anything. It easily exceeded my expectations in virtually all areas. Dislikes, vs. some others. It does not have lighting underneath, or USB ports on both sides, or a timer for the massage function.
