  • Does What it's Intended to Do
Style: 2x2 Displayport 4K 60Hz
When I got a newer "travel sized" laptop for work, I wanted to be able to work from home without struggling over the tiny keyboard, so I looked for a solution. A docking station, by itself, wouldn't be sufficient to use all the peripherals I have on my dual monitor desktop setup, so I researched and went with this. Setup was pretty simple. I had to buy a USB-C "Thunderbolt" DP splitter for my laptop, as well as a couple extra Display Port cables. I got everything setup rather quickly (running cables under my inconveniently placed desk was the hardest part) and at first had some problems. One of my DP cables must have been defective (or too long), so the laptop wasn't displaying on both monitors. Just bought a new cable and that resolved. After using it for a couple weeks, it's a pretty solid piece of gear. The full sized Razer keyboard switches no problem, and I was able to plug my USB received for my wireless mouse into the switch and have it recognized by both computers with no problem. The detachable switch button is handy, as I keep this device far at the back of my desk, under both monitors. The only reason I didn't give this 5* is the fact that on occasion, a monitor will cycle off and then back on. Not sure if it's a bad connection or what, but it is usually fixed by unplugging the cable that runs from the switch to the monitor and plugging it back in. Given the placement of the switch, that's a pain. It's a nitpick, for sure, but since I can't give a 4.5* rating, got to go with 4. Overall, cheaper than most commercially available docking stations, more flexible and a useful piece of technology for you road warriors who find yourself working from home and are tired of leaning over a laptop all day. ... show more

  • Excellent value option for Dual Displayport laptop docking and desktop combo
Style: 2x2 Displayport 4K 60Hz
I have found the dual displayport model to be mostly reliable and a standout value compared to the others that are 50% to 100% more without delivering much more in the way of features. My configuration uses a Lenova laptop via docking station and windows desktop and a Logitech wireless keyboard / mouse combo thru a unified receiver. It supports the use of the docking station that had 2 display ports combined with a HDMI adapter on my desktop that only had 1 displayport with the HDMI port. I utilized their compact active adapter solution here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08PD1DY4P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 So far it was worked perfectly and switching has been surprisingly quick, a couple seconds back to either system. And reliability on the video portion has been rock solid so far. The only thing that occasionally will not sync, is the keyboard when switching back to my desktop. The wake from sleep feature does not seem to work reliably on switching, though it works fine when I switch back to the laptop. Its possible its due to the system differences, but am still looking at that. I have to reach down and hit the sleep button on the desktop to wake it and then the keyboard / mouse work as normal. As others have noted, the hotkey function is lost when using a unified receiver wireless keyboard, or at least certain ones. I verified the feature works just fine when I plug in a wired keyboard. There is a very very loud beep when switching between systems, so that is a hotkey feature you may want to turn off so have a wired keyboard ready. Seriously, my neighbors down the street could probably here it. I would actually give this 4.5 stars as the loss of hotkeys and the wireless not waking the desktop are not huge flaws, but give them some room to improve. Overall great value item. ... show more

  • Port A lasted 5 minutes
Style: 2x2 DVI + VGA
UPDATE: The replacement arrived in 2 days (thank you AMAZON!) and works perfectly. This is exactly the product I have been looking for and [now] exceeds my expectations. Luck of the draw that the first one I received was bad. I'm happy now- so happy I will increase from 1 to 4 stars! I was SO excited to find this. I work from home and have 2 monitors connected to my home computer- 1 DVI and 1 VGA. But I have a laptop/docking station for work. 9 years ago I bought a VGA KVM switch that would at least let me use 1 of my large monitors along with my laptop display and work that way. Finally I decided I needed to use both 2 large monitors for work so I needed a 2 port KVM with both DVA and VGA. This looked like the ticket! I got it in 2 days (thanks Amazon!) and had it hooked up within 30 minutes of delivery. It worked PERFECT and did what I needed- the LED indicators on the front of the KVM showed which computer I was looking at. I switched back and forth between computers several times but the last time I did, the keyboard and mouse on the port A computer didn't reconnect (but the both displays switched). I noticed the port 1 light on the front of the KVM was no longer lit. I switched back to port A and it was fine, switched back and still no keyboard/mouse. I plugged a spare keyboard and mouse directly into the computer and they were recognized and worked fine. I shut down and unplugged both computers and the KVM and even disconnected and reconnected all cables at both ends including USB. Restarted the port A computer and it reported no keyboard was connected but both monitors were displaying fine. The port A LED was still out. I powered up the port B computer and the LED came on and everything worked fine. I powered down again and swapped the VGA and DVI cables at the back of the KVM (port A computer now on port B and vice versa) and powered up. Still port A is not working and port B is fine. I am very disappointed but requested a replacement device. Hopefully this was a 1-off and the new one will work fine. Other comments- I wish the included cables were longer. They are only around 3 ft which is barely long enough to reach. Also the power cord is very short as well at 4 ft. None of the cables are tight or stressed, but a bit of service loop would have been nice. Update- I found a work around. If I unplug the keyboard and mouse from the rear panel and plug them into the front panel USB port (my keyboard has a hub in it too so I plugged my mouse into my keyboard, then keyboard into the front panel), it works for both computers! So the failure appears to be between the rear keyboard/mouse USB ports and port A. Port A (and port B) to the front panel USB works fine. ... show more
