  • Foldability depends upon your definitiion
I have very limited space in my house and wanted this primarily because of the claims that you can fold it up when not in use and just slide it out of the way under the sofa or bed. Yeah, right! I am a busy person and have about as much time for fiddling with all the knobs and screws needed to actually fold this and put it away (every single day!) as I have space to put it in when I'm using it. Not having a convenient way to store this means I am less and less likely to actually use it as it is a royal pain in the rear. I class the claims for "Fast Folding & Easy Storage" as right on the verge of false advertising. One star off for that as it was the #1 reason I got it. The second star off is that at 5'9" and with a long stride length, I really can't do more than walk on this thing. It is way too short for my stride length. I believe, as others have said, that this is designed to be used by smaller people. I would not recommend it to anyone above maybe 5'6" or 140 to 150 pounds. Definitely not usable for anyone at the top of the relatively low weight-range of 240 pounds it specifies, or for someone who is tall and has long legs like me. Overall, I am really disappointed with it. It does not give me the workout I want and it is too much trouble to deal with putting away and getting it back out on a daily basis. For me, that makes it pretty much useless. ... show more

  • Good, compact, light use treadmill, but needs tools to fold.
This review is for the CITYSPORTS Folding Treadmill Exerciser Foldable Walk Running Treadmill, Portable Treadmills for Home Office, Foldable Treadmill with LCD Screen. First thing to note, this is mostly a walking treadmill. It has a short deck and a weight limit of around 240lbs. I weigh much less than that as I am a middle aged female and am 5’5”. When I run, I keep it at about 5 mph and I feel that I have to shorten my stride while I am running on this treadmill. While I am up close to the controls, I feel like my foot is close to the end of the deck. Now walking fast, I have no issues. I have noticed that as I run, the tread does move towards the right. My husband fixed it so it’s not as pronounced now, but it still moves depending on my speed. My in laws loved it when they came over and thought it was great. Naturally, they were only walking. It was easy to assemble and I did it myself. Older people would need a second person due to the weight. While this treadmill is listed as a folding treadmill, it requires tools. I ended up using Velcro strips to attach the tool to the treadmill so I wouldn’t lose it, but I had definitely expected to not need a tool to fold it up. While it has handholds to keep you steady while you use it, I definitely would not want it to have to hold my weight. It does not feel secure enough for that, but as a guide, it’s fine. Honestly, when I ordered it, it was over $400 and now it’s down to around $250. I did not have high hopes since it was so cheap, but it works fine for what it is. ... show more

  • Decent value at this price point
This is a decent, basic treadmill. It assembled easily with the reasonably well-written instructions. This (like any treadmill) is a heavy item and awkward - so elderly or smaller statured persons may wish to enlist some help with moving and assembly. It is quite quiet in operation and smooth - so far. The electronics are fairly basic but useful. It's form-factor, or the amount of floor space it consumes, is relatively compact - so probably a good fit for smaller apartments or living spaces. It folds quite flat and so should be able to be shoved under a bed or couch. Now, about that folding... Yes, it is fold-able as the seller describes. BUT: the folding process requires 1.) A tool (a t-handle hex wrench that is included) and 2.) The thumb-screws that secure the handles must be removed in order for the handles to fold flat. I can see this being a problem in that both these parts are certain to become lost sooner or later. The t-handle hex wrench can be secured with Velcro as one reviewer suggested, and the thumbscrews should be re-inserted in their places so they are available for the next use - but this is poor planning on the designer's part - these should both be captive (non-lose-able) parts. Otherwise, at this price point, a pretty good machine. ... show more

  • A fair product around $249
The price for this treadmill keeps changing with various coupons but seems to hover around $249. That being worth it or not will be up to you, price aside let me tell you what you're getting: The unit came mostly assembled and I was able to have it up and running in 10 minutes. This is an affordable light duty treadmill and being a 210 lbs male this is a walking treadmill only in my book but I feel confident in saying more petite people around 150 lbs or less should be able to run on this without any issues. Being an affordable $249 treadmill the upright supports are NOT gym quality and should not be used to hold your weight or to lean against so elderly or injured users who may need to rely on the hand rails for serious support may want to look at more expensive units that are more sturdy but younger users who will only use the hand rails for balance or to rest your phone/tv remote on it's just fine for that. I did notice the tread starts to track in the direction of my dominant leg (right side) but recenters itself once I get off the treadmill and let it run for about 10 seconds so maybe I just walk a little funny. While it is technically foldable you will need to have an allen wrench handy and loosen 2 screws to fold it down so if being quicly foldable is a factor for you do keep that in mind. Heres the takeaway: I feel the 242 lb (110kg) rating is a bit overstated and would only recommend this for users under 200lbs. The upright supports should only be used for balance and you should NOT put all your weight on them. This is a light duty treadmill and will work just fine for light duty use like power walking or light jogging for people under 200 lbs. Serious runners looking for a compact solution may want to look elsewhere and consider increasing their budget to $500 or more. I would recommend this to anyone who's under 200 lbs and looking for a compact light duty treadmill. ... show more
