    • These rodent repellent alarms work great in detecting movement.
These motion detector units work great in activating the flashing red lights and the alarm sound. The alarm sounds for 45 seconds which is a long time but you do want it to be effective in keeping rodents, animals and people away. There are five mode settings and when it is on the first mode to deactivate the unit you just press the black button on the back side four times to turn it off. If the unit is still active then you may need to repeat pressing the black button four times again and you do this quickly. You do this quickly to not disturb other campers at a campground. When at a campsite that is close to the road where vehicles may be coming by frequently it does sound on, so I recommend to wait until later in the night to set out around your vehicle and or camper trailer. Where I was staying recently I waited until like 10:00 or later to set the units out. Once again the alarm sounds for 45 seconds so it may seem like it is not going to stop but it will stop sounding. I am giving this product 5 stars for the volume. Don't buy this if you live in town or have close neighbors. If you have many acres and are remote this unit will probably scare away every living thing in the vicinity, animal or human. Sadly we had to return it due to not wanting to piss off our good neighbors. Another thing to note is the return process. We live in a small town with no UPS store, the closest being 50 miles one way. The "free" return cost us almost $20 with prime it should be free. This is a very clever device with numerous options and a remote to control it without having to access the device itself. I bought it to discourage predators (blue heron by day, mink at night) from my koi pond. As with most similar inexpensive motion sensors, this device detects passive infrared radiation (body heat) to detect motion. Unfortunately, this results in constant alarms when any of the unit's 4 sensors are in the path of direct sunlight. A bit of cloud cover terminates the alarm until it passes. I had this issue with previous similar devices and, perhaps naively, thought this one might be different. The only option seems to be to endure the constant alarm or turn the unit off via remote. The alarm seems to work properly at night. UPDATE 4/7/26: After 2 days unit turns on but does not respond to any motion; returning to Amazon; derating to 1 star. UPDATE 4/19/26: I returned the first unit (X004Z8KXLZ) for exchange because it frequently gave false alarms for no apparent reason when the sun was shining on it. I hoped the replacement would be better. I really wanted this to work and spent hours trying to abate the false alarms, even putting a white cover on top to shield from direct sunlight and reflect heat. This didn't do anything. Recently, I was getting the false alarms every 3-6 minutes. When the sun went behind a cloud, I didn't get any alarms for 50 minutes until the sun came back out. The company has been very responsive to my issues and tried to help, even sending me two different models (X004A5YZ4 and X0043GSZ2X) at no charge. The former appears to be an older 360 deg model that does not have a volume adjustment. After charging this unit via USB, I attempted to connect the remote carefully following the instructions. I simply could not get the remote to work. Without a working remote the unit is worthless. The later model is a wall/post mounted model that does not suit my needs. Unfortunately, I am compelled to return the replacement unit (X004Z8KXLZ) to Amazon for credit. UPDATE: 4/24/26 The company has been very responsive (appears to be AI) which are repetative and ultimately useless.     • The red lights did not deter deer and the siren function resulted in multiple false alarms per hour
The lights alone do not scare deer during daylight. I bought a set of 3 lights and placed them with the lights facing toward a patch of black raspberry plants on 3 of 4 sides. The deer eat the green raspberry chutes that bear fruit the following year, despite the sharp thorns. Within days of setting these up I noticed 2 of the 3 red lights flashing from our porch about 40 feet from this raspberry patch in our garden. I took a closer look to see what had triggered them and saw 2 deer in the raspberries eating raspberry plants within 5 to 10 feet of the flashing lights. I didn't initially use the siren function because I was concerned about waking up our family and neighbors at night. Update: I then switched modes to the sound and flashing. The sound went off on two of the three sensors once to twice per hour with no animals present. The duration of the siren varied, sometimes seeming to go for a minute or more. My kids and wife complained about the sirens going off more than once an hour when we could see there were no animals present any of these occurrences. I took them down and returned them after about 24 hours in the siren mode. I never had a chance to see if the alarm would scare the deer but I think it would have. It is possible that the sirens going off so frequently deterred deer from even coming into our yard as we typically see deer multiple times per day. But without an adjustment to reduce the sensitivity, it drove us all nuts and I probably had a neighbor wondering what the heck the annoying sirens were. ... show more

Really liked this but it needs to be in a field or someplace that doesn’t get lots of wind and strobe light isn’t very bright and the dog barking kept on and on until we remotely turned it off. We liked it but just couldn’t work for our needs. But if you want to have fun with this, it would be great! ... show more

I kept these up all winter and they still work. I need about 10 more for around the garden and to give as gifts to people I know who also have deer issues. They are loud if you are outside, but if your in the house, they are hard to hear, so I think they would be OK if you live in a place with neighbors close by. Just tonight one went off and I heard it because the door was open. I got up right away and couldn't see anything with the flashlight but eyes glowing out in the woods, many yards from the alarm. Get enough so you can place them 20 feet apart all around the entire garden. They would probably scare the crap out of a burgler. ... show more

Good idea. Seemed well made. Is very sensitive to movement. A slight breeze set it off. Needs an option to just use the light without the sound. I returned as it kept alarming all day because of the wind.
