First, let me say the packaging for this and the matching tables is stellar. Well-organized so you don't have a mess of styrofoam and other materials. The parts are quality steel, also meticulously organized. The instructions are clear and direct, no missing words, very easy to understand with diagrams. The chairs come in several pieces, and it took about 2 hours to do 4 chairs - about 30 minutes per chair - (10-15 minutes for the two tables purchased). The only tip I can offer is you might need a second pair of hands, and inserting some of the bolts and washers on both sides first, leaving them loose, makes it easier to assemble. Hold both alan wrenches at the same time, one stationary, to tighten. Use a power tool for the big screws if you want more torque and faster assembly than a screwdriver, but it can be done with a screwdriver. That's it. What a great product! Though Acacia wood is very durable, we purchased a sealant cream for waterproofing because South Texas is a swamp. We look forward to at least 10 years labor free enjoyment. We also purchased the Christopher Knight Adirondack Chair cushions to go with, though we are disappointed in the "water resistant" material, it's easy enough to put them up before a rain. One of the best features is how sturdy they are, despite being folding. Most adirondack chairs I looked at on Amazon have a weight limit of 250lbs. Not these! We have family that need a higher weight limit and these are comfy and aturdy to sit in at 300lbs+. The secondary cup holder is also a bonus that you can leave on or off, but it has a bottom instead of just a hole, so I recommend putting it on. My large Yeti Rambler fits fine in the armrest with the bottomless hole. The Yeti water bottle fits in the discreet one with the bottom that slides under the seat when not in use. The dark grey stain looks slightly distresssed since it's a stain and not a paint or varnished finish. The finish is matte. A great purchase! ... show more

I've owned a number of sets of Adirondack chairs over the years, and these are by far my favorite. They are sturdy, great-looking, and comfortable. They took some time to assemble, but I was able to do it by myself. I was glad for the second Allen wrench for some steps. I was so impressed with the care that was taken with the packing. Unfortunately, a crossbar snapped off despite their efforts. I contacted the website for help. I thought they would send me just the two affected pieces, but they replaced the whole chair! (I was able to use wood glue on the original chair and you'd never know it had broke.) I think they will last for quite a few years--and no painting needed! ... show more

Oh my gosh, after searching for weeks for the best deal, we bought 6 of the dark gray and they are wonderful. It took 2 of us just under an hour to put all 6 together. Very sturdy, solid and they look fantastic around our fire pit. Great deal too compared to anything I could buy locally.

I was a little apprehensive about ordering two of these to build myself! I am a klutz, I was used to my daughter doing all these projects for me when she was here. So here’s a tip. When you are it putting together and it says use a screw and a washer and a bolt, the washer goes between the two pieces. It took me about a half hour to finally read that at the bottom of the instruction box. They give you an extra of every piece of hardware. You might need one or two of those. I sweat blood over one junction between the arm and the seat. A customer here finally suggested I try a different screw and bolt. Bingo! I guess the screw or bolt was defective. Because the next set I replaced with worked fine. There are long screws that connect the arm in the back. I also had trouble with those. If you don’t have the two pieces lined up exactly right, the screw may go in crooked. Don’t keep screwing it, pull it out reposition the 2 pieces and start over. It also took a while to figure out the cupholder. There’s a slot on the side and you might wonder what it’s for. Slip the side of the cupholder in, it made sense but it took me a while to figure that out. I said I was a klutz! I’m pretty smart in other areas of life! Lol I was very happy when they were finally done and they do fold, handy to carry out to the yard, watch the directions to see how. I used a regular screwdriver, not an electric one, that probably would’ve been a little easier, but most of the work is done with an Allen wrench which is provided. You will use both ends of the Allen wrench. Only a few screws for a screwdriver. I hope this review is helpful for you less talented people like myself. 😄 ... show more
