So hard to find the original Chlortrimeton. Even my pharmacy doesn't make it and I never see it on the shelves. However, it seems there's tons of generic versions. I seem have built up an immunity to many of the other brands of antihistamines. Either that, or the ones that work knock me off my feet. I have a cat who has very sensitive skin. She is tormented with itching and scratching, until I have her half of pill each night. They are small so its easy to toss down her throat. For the price, these work amazing! Will continue to buy!

My vet recommended this product for my cat seasonal allergies, but after a few doses, he refused to swallow it. I was even trying to be sneaky and crush it up into his food, but it was just a no-go after a while. I did notice reduction and symptoms rapidly when he was able to take it. Per PetPlace.com Dosing Information of Chlorpheniramine for Dogs and Cats Chlorpheniramine is available over the counter but should never be administered without first consulting your veterinarian. The dose and frequency recommended will depend on the condition being treated, underlying health problems, and use of concurrent medications. Chlorpheniramine maleate is dosed in dogs at 0.1 mg per pound to 0.4 mg per pound (0.2 to 0.5 mg/kg) every 8 to 12 hours. Another way Chlorpheniramine maleate is dosed in dogs is by the total dose. For example, most dogs will receive 4 to 12 mg (total dose) orally two to three times daily (every 8 to 12 hours). Dose should not exceed 0.25 mg/per pound (or 0.5 mg/kg). The most common dose used in cats is 2 mg total dose per cat every 8 to 12 hours. The medication taste is often unpleasant for cats. In these cases, an alternative form of the medication (such as transdermal) or a different medication may be preferred. The extended-release product should never be split or crushed. Medication should be given at the same time each day. If you miss a dose and remember it within 3 hours, give it and then give the next scheduled dose as per the original schedule. If it has been longer than 3 hours since you missed a dose, give the next dose as originally scheduled. Do not give a double dose unless otherwise instructed by your veterinarian. ... show more

I've tried lots of different types of allergy meds for my cat and these seem to work pretty well. I crush a half tablet with every meal and I've notced the snot from his nostril and mucus from his eyes isn't ⁵⁵ as bad as it once was. Plus mixing it in his food gets it in his system so theres no fighting on whether or not hes taking his meds. He was a rescue and came with a plethora of ailments; rotted teeth, snotty nose and eyes, problem moving his bowels throwing up and diarrhea. It took some time finding a vet that actually cared even to not lie to me aout his health. So we're going with that vets recommendations most of what he recommends can be purchased on amazon. I use this med for awhile now, but usually bought them from Wal****. When last time I bought them from Amazon, I did not even read the review because I know it works well for me. Today have nothing to do so I scrolled through some reviews and OMG, at first, I was scare the heck out when see people use this med for their pets. I thought I bought the wrong med, I have been using animals medication all along? Then I calm down and think, I'm still alive alright. Then why not? I have use many different OTC allergy meds before, even some prescription kinds, all of them seem to work for a couple months then loose their effects on me. They stop reducing allergy symptoms for me entirely. Thanks my aunt who suggested this med for me. In my personal experience with allergy meds, this is the best among them so far, it works five minutes after I take them and does not loose their effectiveness on me after a year of using them regularly. So I don't care if it is for pets or human, I'll take them as long as they works well for me. ... show more
