WOW I have such mixed feelings about these chairs. I searched everywhere for the perfect combination of style for my home and overall quality/durability. I read countless reviews and the CHITA brand Counter Height Barstools stood out as the winner. Although most of the reviews were glowing, there seemed to be a contradiction regarding the assembly. Some stated it took about 2 hours to put together, and some raved how easy they were, that the seat and bottom just needed to be attached using 4 bolts, and assembly was done in less than 10 minutes Being a pretty handy senior with a screw driver, I naively hoped for the best and added the 2 Pack Flint Gray to my cart. I assumed those that took 2 hours to assemble were clueless how to tighten a bolt?? 8 days later the huge box arrived at my front door. It was so heavy, I had to open and unload the contents on my front porch and carry everything inside piece by piece. Clearly this was not a 10 minute assembly. The chair seats and leg parts were wrapped securely and properly to withstand shipping. There were easy to understand instructions. Each chair had a complete Hardware Card with an Allen Wrench (hex key). And yes, it took almost 10 minutes just to unwrap everything, and read the instruction booklet. The 4 legs need to be attached individually to the swivel mechanism using 2 bolts each. (The swivel was already attached to the underside of the seat) The bolts are in an awkward position and the allen wrench barely fits into the small space. It is impossible to make complete rotations, so the process is long and tiresome. The crossbars need to be screwed into the leg, but be careful. Use slow and steady brute force, as there is no pre-drilled hole in the leg, and the wood could easily split. Be sure to screw these completely flush or they won't catch and the cross bar won't stay put. (see attached photos). For me the assembly took a good 2 hours! And have fun removing the stickers.... Once the chairs were assembled I have to say the chairs are very attractive and look great at my kitchen counter. I like the simple design, the light gray color and they are somewhat comfortable to sit on. I have included photos indicating measurements. But I find the quality very questionable. Once assembled I noticed an obvious stain on the top of one of the chairs. You can clearly see the construction nails popping through the fabric and already compromising the threads, showing "wear", even though these were fresh out of the box. (see photo). With taking extreme care in screwing in those cross bar nails, I still have one crossbar that does not seat completely, and pops out. (see photo). The nails are screwed in as flush as they can go. The leg(s) must be warped, not allowing a tight fit, so that chair will never be safe to sit on. Overall I am disappointed in the quality of these chairs. After re-reading the reviews, and scrutinizing exactly what the reviewer had purchased, it appears that it's the 2 Pack that requires the extensive assembly. And the chairs bought individually only require the 4 bolts. I wish the listing was transparent regarding this difference, I would have gladly paid extra to buy 2 single chairs and not have sore and blistered hands. I wish I had been given the opportunity to make that choice. The laborious assembly, the stain, the permanent stickers, the construction nails popping through the fabric and the cross bar not seating properly leave me very disappointed. ... show more

I was prepared to only like these grudgingly, since they were not leather. But they surprised me. They are very good looking, good feeling and comfortable. We're in then alot of the day, and they look and feel like new.

When I came across these barstool I feel in love with them. However, if I listened to the reviews they wouldn't be in my kitchen now. Unpacking these stools took less than two minutes. All you have to do is cut the tape at the top of the chair and lift it out of the wrapping, once you pull off the inner covering. The same applies for the legs but you just have to cut the tape from the side and lift out of wrapping. As far as the reviews go for adding washers and rigging the base to the actual seat wasn't the case. There is sufficient clearance for the seat to turn in all directions and there was no rubbing at all as described in previous reviews. The most important key to installation is taking the proper time to screw then adjust the plate without tightening the screws at once. If you take this simple step the stools will not require any additional store bought washers, screws or whatever else others have mentioned. This comes from the professional furniture installer that I live with. He said it also helps if you use a hex drill. It is faster and allows you the proper flexibility to adjust the plate while installing the screws provided. Now let's get to the quality of the stools. We bought three of them singlerly because it was most cost effective and all three matched in color. I caught them on sale. Not sure why the single stool cost more alone than the set. Thank goodness it went on sale and buying 3 independent stools was better than purchasing a set and 1 individual one. The stools are very beautiful and has thick comfortable cushions. The only con is that I really which merchants take the time to show the true color of their products because these stools were a little darker than what I expected. Fortunately, despite the shade being darker, they still worked well in my kitchen. We just got them today so I hope the fabric last even though I did purchase the warranty that I hope I will never have to use. I am glad that I did not listen to the negative reviews like I started to. I think this is a great purchase after searching various companies and not finding well cushioned stylish stools and the price was right! ... show more
