I used to use s chopstick to poke out cherry pits from smaller sour cherries from the trees in my back yard. I neverbought a pitter for fear of waste. This actually worked really well. This wasn't too bad and worked really well in regard to pitting in general. Only thing worth mentioning - rinse IMMEDIATELY after use to avoid pitting in the pitter (lol) Works well though and can recommend. ... show more

This affordable, handy little tool is awesome!! SO much cleaner than me taking a knife and going around the pit and then using my fingers to get the pit out. Bye bye stained cuticles and fingers. This makes putting cherries super fast. Now, I can have cherries whenever I want. It's not some big production. Wash, take the stem off, pop them in here and go to town. I bought three different pitters and this was by far the best. It is sturdy and holds up well. It does on occasion squish the the larger cherries a teeny bit, but this is not a problem for most recipes. You can rely on it to get the pit every time.

This tool has a real nice feel to it. The craftsmanship is superb, the design is attractive, and, for lack of a better word, it simply has character. Sitting next to the can opener, this kitchen tool SHINES. The chrome finish felt smooth against my hand as I held it for the first time. The curvature of the handles slid comfortably into my palm and as I undid the claps, it popped open with a tantalizing spring. This was to be my first experience with any kind of "pitter," and I was excited to use it. The receptacle held my moist olive perfectly, neither too loose nor too snug, as I prepared to squeeze the trigger. The olive pit, the bane of my existence was to be vanquished from my life. I knew my goal, to live a pit-less life, would bring me enjoyment, but I never thought I would find so much pleasure in the act of pit destruction. To find happiness in the journey, not the destination...that is the ultimate achievement of any uni-tasking kitchen tool. In the end, though, the entire olive was smashed and the pit didn't fit through the hole at the bottom. 3 stars. ... show more
