I have had MANY Apple corers in my day and it’s been a LONG time since I’ve actually used one because they never really worked. I would always get the seeds. Well, this one is so much easier to guide and I can push it with little force. I RARELY will hit the center (where the seeds are) and when you pull it out all you do is push the knob and it releases the core! Having been around for over 76 years, I’ve owned many apple corers. The round metal kind with segments of sharp metal are not horrible, when they are ONE-PIECE construction only. If the blade parts are welded or otherwise attached to the outside ring, they break after a handful of uses. I have never owned one that has been guaranteed for any length of time, let alone a lifetime guarantee. I used to own a cast iron apple corer/peeler/slicer, but that was more trouble than it was worth, when it came to just coring (not peeling or slicing) just one apple. That gizmo was only useful when making apple pies or apple crisp, etc. This corer is magnificent to say the least! I use the handle to turn and allow the teeth to start the coring process. Then I grasp the apple and twist it up the rest of the way until it’s all the way through the apple. After pulling it out of the fruit, just press the lever trash the core and rinse the corer off thoroughly. Being dishwasher safe is a huge PLUS. It’s my belief that the reviewers who showed photos of the coring cylinder being severely bent, or skewed, were trying to push the corer straight into the apple and probably forcefully hitting the toothed edges on their countertop. I hope they will give their replacement another try, because if you just twist it into the fruit to get it started and then simply twist the fruit while holding onto the handle, the coring cylinder will never be bent or skewed and will remain in perfect condition for many years to come. Please try it again. New first-time buyers, please don’t be put off by the negative reviews. You will love this corer if you use it in a twisting, NOT PUSHING mode. Enjoy!!! ... show more

This is an excellent Apple corer. It does what it's supposed to do & it does it without muss or fuss! Does NOT require excess downward pressure to core an apple, unlike a circular 2 handle model we had. Core removes easily from device. Appears to be well made & sturdy. Time will tell.

I eat a lot of apples and love having something this handy to core them for me. It's easy to use, made well and very east to clean. It's really sharp too. The lever at the top makes it easy to get the core out after you're done with it as well.

This little gem is easy to use and fun to see in my utensil drawer! It comes in a variety of colors to add a little whimsy to your every day “stuff”. I’ve been married for 63 years and never had an apple corer. What was I thinking? This is a terrific tool which seems to be quite sturdily made.
