  • Great keyboard and value, looks sharp too
Color: Bronze W/MX2A Brown
OK, I have had a LOT of mechanical keyboards over the years, at various price points. Between me and my wife, we've gone through at least 10 keyboards each over the last 15 to 20 years (yeah, multiple PCs, locations, use cases, unhappy with some of them, etc.). Plus, I am both a software and hardware engineer (recently retired), so I have a pretty solid context for my opinion. This Cherry KC 200 MX (with the MX2A Brown switches) is really very nice. Solid construction, a rigid metal base, and the keys have an excellent feel. I got this one for my wife to use, replacing an extremely well-used Cooler Master Storm QuickFire TK Brown mechanical keyboard that came with OG Cherry Brown switches. She is a research professional that is WFH, and also does extensive creative writing and correspondence. She is also has petite, with small hands. Well! She LOVES this keyboard - the keys feel perfect, their slightly closer pitch means this fits a full set of keys in a compact keyboard space. The keys are quiet but have a nice click feel. It has no RGB, which she never had a use for. The bronze finish is subtle and classy. And it fits in her space perfectly. Is it perfect? No, some nit-picks are the tilt-feet are a little clunky to adjust, and it would be improved if it had a standard, easily replaceable USB-C cable, but the one it comes with appears of very good quality. Overall, this is a home run, and we could not be happier with it. If the style and form factor work for you, I think you will be very pleased if you get one of these keyboards. It's very unlikely you will want to return it. :-) ... show more

  • Awesome keyboard, highly recommmended!
Color: Bronze W/MX2A Brown
I got this keyboard with the MX2A Brown switches and absolutely love it! I came from my 12 year old Das Keyboard with Cherry MX Blue switches after its left Ctrl key quit working. Over the years I had grown tired of the harsh click of the Blue switches, but of course I still wanted the mechanical feel. The MX2A Brown switches are perfect! They provide a very satisfying typing feel and the typing noise is now at much nicer level. They have a nice "thock" feel to them rather than a sharp click. They feel buttery smooth and I'm pretty sure I gained a few wpm with this board. It also has a nice heft to it; feels very quality-built. ... show more

  • cherry kc 200 mx is my GOAT keyboard
Color: Bronze W/MX2A Brown
My favorite key board. I like the mechnical keyboard experience better than non-mechanical. About five years ago I bought a durgod k320 87 key mechanical keyboard and love it. Recently I wanted to replace a membrane keyboard with a full sized mechanical keyboard and tried the cherry kc 200 mx. It's better than the durgod with more stable keys, very little vibration, quieter sound and it has a great retro high tech look. I think mine was reasonably priced at $69. Using the keyboard is a pleasure. If you like the mechanical keyboard experience, I recommend this one. ... show more

  • Great keyboard with no complaints.
Color: Bronze W/MX2A Silent Red
Has held up extremely well! My typing speed has held up through a fairly intensive use for this while using Discord fairly heavily, while writing 3+ hours per day and while gaming on fairly heavily (Helldivers 2, Deadlock, Counter-Strike). The keys are a little heavy but in a way that seems well-built rather than is exhausting to type with. It's very nice to type with and gives good feedback. The keys spring back in a very responsive manner and provide a very good typing experience. The layout and feeling of typing with it overall has been really nice, no complaints of things like function keys. The dedicated calculator function key is unexpectedly more helpful than I had given it credit for and all function keys work with Linux. ... show more

  • You’ll have an awesome keyboard if you repair this one
Color: Bronze W/MX2A Brown
I’m typing this on my new KC 200 MX (brown) keyboard. I haven’t enjoyed the luxury of a mechanical keyboard since may IBM Selectric / 29 card punch / 1130 days. It’s very sweet, but here are some impressions. First, this is LOUD relative to recent experience. And I truly don’t mind. Maybe the sound will keep me awake and stimulated, although I love working at my desk anyway. It’s also really self-assuring/self-validating to hear how quickly I handle the keys. By LOUD, I don’t have a meter, but maybe 70 dB. Not like a jet engine, but for sure you’re the elephant in the room you type in. The certainty of their actuation compared to what I am setting aside (Logitech K120, which is respected for what it is) lets me focus more on what I’m typing as opposed to whether the key is going to actuate. That old K120 is really sensitive to humidity, which isn’t good because I live in western Ohio and try to use outside air for “conditioning” as much as possible. I can’t say how the KC 200 MX will do in some of these 100% relative humidity days. We have a lot of those. Second, the keycaps feel noticeably “sharp.” Not because they are poorly made. They are their intended shape, but I’m not sure it’s completely to my liking. I may find some new callouses in time. The bumps on F and J are overdone. Do people actually use those? Although I feel like I can type much faster on this keyboard already than on my old one, I did a short test with a stopwatch, and I’m about dead even between this and my K120. Just a little over 7 characters per second typing several dozen words. But I’m just getting acclimated to this. (And it is not humid today.) I loved the all-paper (except for one metal/paper twist tie and some labels on the box) packaging. This was shipped in its own carton without another box. There was one royal mess-up with the product engineering, and it needs called out. The rubber feet are a complete afterthought and fully miss the mark. They are teeny tiny, and from there the news only gets worse. There are five of them. Two in the “rear” (away from the owner) on the fold-out feet. When the fold-out isn’t used, you don’t benefit from these feet. And three in front (left, center, right). Except only one is working on my keyboard. On my desk, which is decades old but looks flat to me, the keyboard doesn’t have the same concept of what flat means, so that left rubber foot really doesn’t make contact. So the keyboard, if used as purchased, the left slide slides all of the desk at will. It’s like they put all this time into the switches, the chassis, and left the last touches completely out of the design. The center foot, it doesn’t even reach the desk. For now, I have my keyboard on a stained tea towel so it doesn’t wander around. Some more model choices from Cherry would have been nice. The absence of a bezel means it’s easy to rest one thumb or the other on the front of, or even under, the spacebar. And as I mention, it’s sharp. This positioning can’t be fixed by making the spacebar deeper because of its need for 4 mm travel. I may soon put a file to the bottom edge of this spacebar. I think this might be a good start for someone who’d like to try a mechanical keyboard at modest cost. (Although I paid more for this keyboard than I paid for my computer.) But most folks will have to fix the bottom somehow to reduce sliding, many may want different keycaps, and perhaps a bit more. ... show more

  • Great Office Keyboard
Color: Bronze W/MX2A Silent Red
I normally use a Cooler Master MK750 with Cherry MX Blue switches. For the office, I needed something that retains the feel of mechanical keys but is quieter and less distracting. After using this keyboard for a couple of weeks, I can say it’s an excellent choice for an office environment. The keypresses are satisfying while remaining quiet enough not to draw attention. The build quality is solid, with no noticeable flex, and the materials feel premium. It has also noticeably reduced hand strain during prolonged use compared to the membrane keyboard I was using previously. ... show more

  • Quiet enough for a cubicle!
Color: Bronze W/MX2A Silent Red
I love mechanical keyboards, but let's be honest: colleagues don't always appreciate the clacking. This is the perfect keyboard for someone in an office setting that doesn't want to be "that guy" with the loud keyboard. Great feel - exactly what you would expect from red switches, but truly much quieter. I have a HyperX at home, and while I won't say it totally compares in feel and in design (the lack of added space between the function keys and placement of the calculator button can be something to get used to), it's a MUCH better match for a cubical scenario. The bronze also just looks so professional and clean. Great price point for a truly high-quality keyboard. You don't need to keep living with membrane keyboards to spare your colleagues. You deserve better than that, my friend, and this keyboard will be the ticket to your escape from that easily breakable, terribly unresponsive nightmare you keep enduring. ... show more

  • An Amazingly Silent Keyboard!
Color: Bronze W/MX2A Silent Red
Out of the box this product works great: Deathly quiet, very responsive and tactile, and heavy enough to sit still during use. The build quality of this keyboard is immaculate, especially for the price. Coming from a Logitech Pro keyboard I must say this keyboard runs laps on it. I can't recommend this keyboard more if you want a high quality, quiet, and responsive keyboard! ... show more
