  • Great duster for my vegetable bed + fruit tree
I was concerned when I ordered it due to some negative reviews. Once I received it, I put it to work immediately on my Arugula + Radish + couple fruit trees, that were being shewed by some unknown bugs to me. It worked flawlessly, I expected some over dusting here and there, and not consistent volume of dust every couple pumping, but I consider that expected with non-high tech tool that cost $10. It never clogged so far, even with my Diatomaceous powder being 5 years old, sitting in my unheated shed, uncovered, with 95% humidity most of the year. I can direct the dust from either top of the plant or from the bottom, by bending the little hose slightly with my fingers while dusting. this little hose proved very useful to me as I can stick it in tiny places inside my fruit tree between the branches where it's hard to reach. You will not be able to dust an orchard with it, but for couple trees it works beautifully. I'm very happy with this duster and I would buy it again ... show more

  • Work quite well for price
End does come off easily if you bend push handle too far up or down while spraying, so I simply glued and taped it in place. I added 18" of plastic tubing to blast diatomaceous earth into very hard to get places in my basement. I also tried sifting the DE powder first. Larger cloud is then pushed out for better coverage. It works better than anything else I have tried for this purpose. ... show more

  • It works better than I thought it would
I have an old metal Chapin duster that has lasted decades. Now, however, even though it still works the screw part where you fill it is getting rusty and I was afraid that if I forced it to open I would totally kill it. So... I thought I would try this new model. It is a little flimsy, but it does a better job of dusting than the old one did. It may not last decades like the last one, but it does a good job and I like it. ... show more

  • Back to the ol' Dustin Mizer...
What a badly-designed, poorly made piece of useless junk the Chapin duster turned out to be. Yes, if you use it bowl hanging down as shown, all you get are clots and clumps of powder, nothing resembling 'dust.' But if you flip it, as many reviewers suggest, you get one or two small plumes of dust and then nothing -- because the tube that draws in the dust goes to the bottom, when flipped it goes to the top and pokes out of the dust. (In short, it was designed for the bowl to hang.) So you have to keep tipping and flipping the dang thing to produce any effective dust. Or I suppose you could cut the tube to a nub, but you'll still have the problem of the plunger handle popping loose every few minutes - it doesn't screw on, it's just held on by 'fit.' ... show more

  • One of my best garden tools
I agonized over which sprayer to get. This looked like it had all the features I wanted. I chose well. It does all I want it to do. It sprayed the diatomaceous earth in the exact way I needed it to.

  • Worthless piece of junk!
This thing deserves no stars. It is an absolutely poor design. See how it tapers down toward the front. Well that’s in there is a stopper that is placed in the large part of the tube. So the taper stops it from going forward, however, there’s nothing to stop it from coming out. So the third time I pumped *pop* BROKEN. And there was a lubricant all over this piece. Stupid. The part that holds the metal rod doesn’t need lubricant. I tried to dry all the line off and glue but no luck so far. I only gave it a star bc I couldn’t post this otherwise. Don’t waste you time or money. Junk. ... show more

  • Turn it upside down!
I am using this for Sevin Dust, first few uses it plugged quickly. Then I read other reviews that said turn it upside down and that seems to be working fine. But yes be careful it puts out a very fine cloud of dust. It's easy to inhale! So far so good.

  • For some reason, it looks larger to me on ...
For some reason, it looks larger to me on the web page than it does "in person". It's about half the size I expected, but I was thinking of the dusters I used when I was younger. Because it's small it is very finicky about the angle it must be held at for dust to come out. I wish I had looked at the dimensions but that it my mistake. Also- the tube is an aquarium air tube and very flimsy. It droops and cannot be aimed. My mistake, so I'm not giving it 1 star. ... show more
