Powering your life takes on a whole new meaning with our feature-packed, innovative technology and design. We cut the noise level in half by integrating Quiet Technology digital inverter components. Then, we created an efficient mechanical design to decrease the overall footprint and weight by 20 percent. A quiet, lightweight, and cost-effective power solution, this inverter is smaller, quieter, lighter…BETTER! The Intelligauge monitors voltage, frequency and operating hours, and Cold Start Technology ensures a quick start in cold weather. The 301cc engine produces 6250 starting watts and 5000 running watts, and runs for 13.5 hours at 25% load when the 4.2-gallon fuel tank is full. From 23 feet, this inverter operates at 69 dBA, about as loud as a vacuum cleaner. This unit holds 1.2-quarts of oil (recommended 10W-30) and features a low oil shut-off sensor and a Quick Drain oil tube for easy changes. Confidently connect your sensitive electronics since our hybrid produces only Clean Power (less than 3% THD). • Runs a 50 gallon hot water heater, cant ask for much more than that!
Style: 6250-Watt + Gas + Manual Start Pattern Name: Inverter
I recently had a 10 circuit transfer panel installed, I put the hot water heater in the single 30 amp circuit. I knew that this generator should be able to run it, but was slightly apprehensive, as this is rated 5000 watts running, and a standard hot water heater is 4500 watts roughly, so its a real test of the generators output. Sure enough, it ran the hot water heater great, it did get quite a bit louder but thats just how it is when you ask any generator to run at full load. When running with ECO mode on and the water heater breaker OFF, I found the sound level very reasonable, I could not even hear when I was in the front of my house (it was in the backyard) and I have a small tenth of an acre yard (new construction lol). I feel like this generator is probably at the limit of what I would accept sound wise, anything louder is likely to be disruptive to my neighbors as we are all so close together. The clean inverter power is great for my UPS units, they work well on it and do not complain. After I floated the neutral, they kept popping the GFCI when connected directly via extension cord, but the 240 volt twist lock is not GFCI protected, so when connected to my transfer switch, there is no issue. Just something I noticed and wanted to make note of here, if you do convert to floating neutral. Overall, im happy with the customer service (had a video on how to break neutral bond! super easy), the sound level and the ease of use. Good combination of features while keeping the cost reasonable. We dont all have $5000+ for a Honda EU7000, so im glad this exist for a fraction of the cost. If anything im regretting I didnt get the newer model they (champion) just came out with , but oh well, this works great for my needs. ... show more

  • Works great
Style: 6250-Watt + Gas + Manual Start Pattern Name: Inverter
The first generator that I received was a lemon. It ran for about 5 seconds and shut down abruptly. I spent a fair amount of time with a customer representative trying to figure what was wrong. They eventually had me send it back and replaced it. I gave it five stars because customer service dealt with me fairly and I’m very happy with the generator. The generator is quieter, lighter and more powerful than the one we currently have and it was a very good price. Can’t beat that. ... show more

  • A Real Bargain
Style: 6250-Watt + Gas + Manual Start Pattern Name: Inverter
With a heavy heart, I decided to replace my beloved Honda EU3000iS genset. It's performed flawlessly for 8+ years. Started every time, ran like a swiss watch, maintenance was minimal. Not to mention it was incredibly quiet. But here's the thing - it's a 120V generator. When we recently lost power for 20+ hours, it became apparent that we needed a reliable water supply - and our well pump requires 240V. The Champion 5000/6250 looked good on paper, and Amazon offered the best deal. It arrived about a week after ordering. Unit was well packaged, with no damage. Being no stranger to new engine break-in, I followed Champion's instructions - then went above and beyond. 11 hours (and 3 oil changes) later, I was satisfied the engine was up to snuff. It was louder than my Honda, for sure. That was no surprise. But it was noticably quieter than the other two open-frame gensets I had owned before (about the same capacity). The combination of eco-throttle and auto load governing seemed to work quite well for both noise and fuel consumption. At loads below 30% or so the noise was tolerable - if not "quiet". I'll update more on this later, as well as electrical performance, once I get some real-world hours on it. As far as features, it's obvious that some nickels and dimes were shaved off to keep the price down. I won't bother listing all the little things I found lacking, but overall I'm satisfied that the critical components are good quality, and don't mind trading some convenience for reliability and a reasonable price. I might not have all the features I'd like, but make no mistake - this is a superb value for the money. Powered everything on our emergency bus, and then some. Champion Corp. does not build their own generator sets - this is done in China. But realize that there are only a handful of portable gensets still made in the USA - and the number is shrinking. However, Champion does have several research/test facilities located in the US. These facilities are responsible for the engineering specs supplied to the Chinese factories, and I've heard that Champion is pretty strict about how their products are manufactured - including quality control. Indeed, a 3-year warranty seems to confirm this. There's a lot of junk Chinese consumables flooding the market today, but it doesn't look like this is one of them. At least not today. UPDATE: 9/23/2021 No power outages yet, but I've had time to add on a few more hours to the generator. To date I've got a little over 22 hours on it - and it's been completely reliable. I connected to my 5KW garage furnace, and it powered that easily. Checked the current draw, it measurd 20.5 Amps @ 242 VAC. That works out to about 4961 running Watts (draws a bit more when the blower starts up). Voltage and frequency remained rock steady. After about 45 minutes of steady operation, I felt the inverter's heat sink, and it was only warm - not even close to hot. Great news there. Seems like Champion built in a fair amount of headroom at full capacity, so I'm more confident in the unit's durability now. Just for giggles, I attempted to power up our 2.5-ton A/C unit. I didn't buy this generator for that purpose, but was curious. Of course it wouldn't start the A/C, but it hung in there for several seconds before tripping the overload fault. Tried 2 more times with the same result. I kinda feel that another 500 Watts of surge capacity might have done the job. But it's good to know that the unit's safety interlocks are working properly. There was no damage to either A/C or generator after this extreme stress test. Only functional issue I discovered is that the engine has a slight, steady miss at both min and max RPMs. Being no stranger to small engines, this is a classic symptom of a lean mixture condition. Not too surprising, since it has to meet CARB emissions standards. Checked and re-gappd the spark plug, which looked very clean upon removal. Using fresh, clean, no-ethanol fuel - so that's not an issue. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any provision to make small mixture adjustments on the carbureter, which would be the next logical step to smooth the engine out. But I can live with that for the time being, as long as it doesn't get worse. So I stand by the 4-star rating. I'm confident that any factory defects would have surfaced by now. I might have even considered 5 stars, but hey, I'm downgrading from a Honda - which rocks in every category except price. This Champion is a great value, I'd suggest you snatch one up before supplies get tight and prices spike. You know that's gonna happen... ... show more
