The Champion Power Equipment 100427 12,000-lb. Truck/SUV Synthetic Rope Winch Kit is designed for powerful and reliable winching with your truck or SUV. With a rated line pull of 12,000 pounds, this winch installs quickly with our Speed Mount 2-inch hitch adapter, which is designed for quick and easy mounting, transportation and storage. Mount this winch on your truck or SUV with the included mounting adapter to quickly harness the strength of its 6.0HP (12V DC) series wound motor. The convenient handles are 3-position adjustable, plus they serve as side guards to protect your winch. With a gear reduction ratio of 216:1, the winch boasts a line speed of 2.3 feet per minute with a full load, and 15.7 feet per minute with no load. Made from hi-tech polyethylene, the high flexibility and low weight of synthetic rope prevent kinking, plus it won’t fray or curl. It also stores less kinetic energy and will not recoil with as much force as steel, and if it breaks, it can be repaired in the field, plus it floats. Since it’s free of wire splinters or burrs, there’s less chance of injury. Designed with a stainless steel thimble and protective sleeve, the 85-foot by 11/32-inch synthetic winch rope has a minimum break strength of 15,000 pounds and is guided onto the 2.5 by 8.8-inch drum through the fairlead. Featuring a black anodized finish, the lightweight aluminum hawse fairlead is precisely machined to maximize the life of the rope. The efficient three-stage planetary gear, braking system and free spooling clutch along with the hand-held quick-connect remote control and 12-foot cable offer excellent control while winching. The included snatch block can be used to increase winching power or to aid in angled pulls. In the box, you’ll also receive a handy strap, 6-foot battery lead cables and a fitted weather-resistant neoprene cover. The Champion winch works well in my raised loft, open bay shed as a lift to raise my tractor in to the shed for repairs and service. I had been using a chain fall, but the winch is so much nicer. I power the winch with the tractor battery and keep it charged with a small 120VAC/12VDC charger which I hope to power soon from a small solar unit if possible. The cable lead lengths are good for this type of alternate use in a shed instead of direct in a vehicle. Install fairly well into my Artic Cat, replacing the original equipment which had issues with the terminal wiring. Main use is to lift and drop a snow plow, so only playin out a couple of feet, Half way through plowing the cable snapped, I had put in a metal link with a max load of 250 lbs between the cable and the plow as a "sacrificial link" it was fine. The snapped cable is tangled into the spool, spent far too long trying to undo the mess, will probably just had to start cutting and hope there's still ample left on the spool. Rather Frustrating. Tried the "support link" which just gave me a "blank" url ... show more

I purchased the 4500 lb winch with steel cable, rocker switch and wireless remote. Extreme quality winch. This is my second champion winch (other is 12,000 lb on my truck). Quite a job to install with all the wiring but Champion provides excellent installation instructions for all the wiring. The contractor is even color coded for proper hookups. It comes with really long wires and cables. I shortened all of mine to length for my install and crimped on new terminal ends. This avoids piles of excess wires/cables. The wireless remote is a must - once you use a winch with a wireless remote you will never go without one. I installed one on my 12K truck winch. Makes walking the cable back to hookup really easy. Champion has super customer service. I needed a frame part on the truck winch that did not show on the parts list. The found the part from another winch model and saved me from having to replace the entire motor to get the motor frame mounting plate. They are located in America and speak normal English. All this quality and service for $166. Amazing value. Highly recommended. ... show more

I bought this Champion winch instead of better established winch brands based on online reviews I have read and my own personal experience of Champion products such as 5K generators in the past. The price was attractive enough for me to just give it a shot. The product didn't disappoint me from the first time I opened the package. The installation using KFT plate(101215) was a piece of cake on Honda Pioneer 500. I like the big buttons at least for this UTV. All the cables were clearly labeled. Included hardware was all high quality. The only part where I thought was subpart was the protective sleeve for the actual rope. It was not sewn well and started pulling apart but this doesn't really affect the functionality so I could care less. Also, the included wires were short but I do understand it would've worked fine on most ATVs but not for UTVs. Most UTV installation would rely on also a solenoid as such extra cables are expected. Since it was only about a foot short, I emailed Champion and they got back to me in 10 hours with a couple of solutions. I just appreciate when a customer cares to listen to their customers. The product may not be perfect but as long as they are working with their customers and I am loyal. Of course in this case, the product is pretty good. Thanks. ... show more

I bought 2 of these; 1 for the front and 1 for the rear (they're cheap; why not?). These had some great reviews from my friends, so I thought I'd give them a try. The price is certainly attractive (a fraction of the cost of lot of other brands). I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but my friends swear by theirs. The line speed is slightly faster than I'm used to; time will tell if that's a good thing or not. The included hardware seems robust; wiring, contactor, remote, etc looks to be of decent quality. First thing I did though was to remove the wire rope and roller fairlead in favor of synthetic rope and a hawse fairlead (mainly for the safety reasons and reduced weight). If you're interested, the wire rope attaches via a machine screw to the drum (on the bottom; not on the side of the drum). Keep this in mind if ordering synthetic rope at the same time. ETA: Just in case anyone else is wondering, on the 2 winches that I ordered (and use on the same vehicle; F&R), the wireless remotes operate on different frequencies. So, you don't have to worry about 1 remote accidentally controlling both winches; each remote is for that winch (antenna) only. ... show more
