I decided to rebuild our 20+ year-old Coleman Road Trip Grill. I wanted to use the camper's 11-inch water-column LP regulator rather than full-tank pressure to the grill, as we have in the past. I ordered the Griddle Burner Control Valve Replacement Part for the Blackstone 17 Inch Tabletop Grill, which includes the connection fitting. This HZ-MONSTAR Ceramic Infrared DIY Heating Gas Burner appears to be a good choice. I put together a “proof of concept” lash-up. With the air inlet port closed, there was plenty of yellow flame; not enough air. With the air inlet wide open, the flame essentially disappears. It gets really hot. The grate over the ceramic glows red. The pictures in the description show it on its side. My installation will have it under the pan or griddle plate, replacing the existing burners. What happens to the burner when something boils over into it? Will it self-destruct, or will it burn itself clear? It’ll be exciting to see. The burner is fine, but the Amazon description is not very accurate. It states it has a 12 mm hole. Not. It has an M8-1.0 (fine thread) machine screw thread in the inlet. The orifice drilled into the end of the included fitting looks to be about 0.7 mm. For 12,000 BTU, a pressure higher than 11 inches of water column would be required. I drilled out the hole (Q drill bit) in each of the two units I purchased and threaded for 1/8” NPT. I found a fitting with a 1/8” MNPT to 3/8” Flair that had a small enough hole in the NPT end to tap threads for M6-0.75 (fine thread) machine screw, which is standard for stove orifices. I selected a 1 mm orifice, which, according to my documentation, will deliver the required LP gas for 12,000 BTU. Later on this Spring, when we get the camper out of storage, I’ll have access to the grill and will make the update.

Does anyone know why, when I start it that it works great and then after a while, where the gas inlet goes into the ceramic piece starts on fire there? Right inside the inlet?

the inlet hole is not 12mm as described in one of the listed photos. It's only around 7mm here. waste my time.
