UPDATED REVIEW (9/21/24): GBHome kindly replaced my dish set with the “Style 2 (Clay Rim)” (color: Pottery), which I very much appreciated! This new set, as I referenced in my original review below, is *all* glazed with a small clay rim and it's so much better! The full glaze is glossy and looks fantastic, and the 'Pottery' colorway is a beautiful light cocoa shade, the earthy tone looks chic and elevated, not just a plain brown color. I'm now super pleased with this set! And I'm very happy with GBHome's responsiveness and customer service. As such, I've raised my rating from 3 stars to 5 stars. -------------------------------------------------------------------- ORIGINAL REVIEW (3-stars): These dishes are less impressive in person than in the product images…the fact that they’re described as being hand painted is nice, as I always appreciate artisanal workmanship. However the unfinished clay exterior of the set I selected (“Reactive Cloud White”) is a bit too rustic for my liking (see pics – out of the box they already have marks and such on them like they’ve been used for years, perhaps an intrinsic quality of unfinished clay, but this just isn’t for me)…the tactile feeling is like holding a piece of chalkboard and they attract a lot of lint; I tried wiping down a bowl with a Bounty paper towel as well as a dishcloth after rinsing and the lint clung to the exterior like literal glue, I couldn’t wipe it off with my hand, nothing worked and that isn’t ideal at all. They’re dishwasher safe, but I don’t feel entirely comfortable about that as the dishes are ceramic and the lips/edges seem a bit fragile and prone to chipping/breaking – I’d be worried about their long term durability. The interior/top of the plates is glazed, but with less brilliance and gleam than the product pics seemed to portray for me. All of the pieces are also smaller than I anticipated – granted, there’s a product image with measurements, but there’s nothing like the perspective of seeing something in person. They have a decent weight despite their smaller size; the bowls are *quite* small though and would only hold a small serving of cereal (for instance). The dishes came as a set for 4, 12 pieces in total, and for the price I suppose it’s an ok deal. I just had higher hopes for these than how they look in real life…it appears they have another style, “Style 2 (Clay Rim)”, and I’d suggest going for those instead as the *entire* dish is glazed with only a minimal clay rim versus the style I got, “Style 1 (Clay Appearance)”, where the entire exterior is clay. I really liked the contrast of the cocoa toned exterior and interior white fading into a sky blue shade (so pretty), I just wish the dishes were more substantial, larger, and without the finickiness (lint issues) and odd tactile aspect on the exterior from the unfinished clay.

I couldn't be happier with the GBHOME Plate and Bowl Set, the Hand painted Bowls & Plates are Amazing! Over the years the Children & Grandchildren have taken their toll on our dishes adding to our own mishaps. I was looking for a product that was close to matching our what I call "Stoneware." The GBHOME Plate and Bowl Set is almost identical to our Fifty Year Old Dish set. I absolutely love the Feel and Looks of the GBHOME dishes, they are Flawless obviously expertly made by what must be True Masters of the Trade. I gave the GBHOME Plate and Bowl Set a Full Five Star Rating Across the Board. The GBHOME Dish Set is Very Giftable, Feel Great in the Hand, Are Very Durable, The Pinstriping is spotless with the Beautiful Earth Tones Finishing off the Plate & Bowl Set to name a few of them.

I live in a motor home where storage space is never enough. I'm a cheapskate by nature and have been relying on plastic or plastic-like tableware almost exclusively, not just because of price, but because I don't have cabinet space for anything nicer. Thin plates and stackable plastic bowls can simply stay in the portion of the dual sing where I keep my drying rack, whereas traditional tableware is rather thick... and then there is the worry about breakage in the jostling of a road trip. But I am no longer doing road trips, and my plasticware (what it is really made of, I know not) is full of cut marks from my steak knives and the like, and creates less confidence in the cleanliness level available with a hand washing. So, I thought I'd give the GBHome Dinnerware Set a try. Likes: I can't say enough about how well packed they were, to avoid breakage, and yet occupy a very small and snug fitting box (image). I had expected a ton of foam or wadding, but there was minimal debris to dispose of; mostly recyclable cardboard. Looks really good, a sense of quality, with understated elegance and taste. Because I only needed two of everything, I did some 'destructive' testing, and whacked two plates against each other hard enough to be fearsome of flying pieces, and all I got for my trouble was a very loud, high-pitched clack. So, yeah, Durable! Pretty sure it is possible to break one, but I didn't feel a need to try harder. These are much easier to wash because of their ultra smooth surface, to which nothing seems to stick, as was the constant issue with 'plastic.' The bowls are actually a better size than I've found in plastic. The plates rims are raised to prevent spills my flatter plastic plates often fostered. SO FOR RV USERS, I can recommend, especially if you are not living in your rig, and therefore have more free space in your cabinets. Dislikes: for my use, as expected, they are very thick and fill my sink. But by limiting myself to two plates and two bowls, and perhaps one of the smaller plates, I'm a happy camper (literally) on that score, and have spares should something actually break. I'm a tad bit unhappy with the shape of the bowels, in that they do not nest anywhere near as well as the plastic. You can stack them neatly, if intending, but the slightest bump can make them cattywompus (that's an official word in some circles, but I suspect I've misspelled it), or if all four Bowles, cause a cascade. Two is not so much an issue.
