I'm not sure why this item was poorly rated by others but it's beautiful. The fabric is not overly thick or heavy, and yet it blocks the light very well. It's a gorgeous soft velvet and not at all grandma like. Quite chic. The embossed pattern elevates the look. The teal colour is rich and saturated. Yes, it is a bit wrinkled. Very pretty, exactly what I was wanting. They are good quality and block out light very well. I didn't have to iron them after unpacking them. They are a gorgeous moody blue. I am very pleased.

After owning several pair of these curtains I’m back to purchase more for my bedroom. The look is expensive but the price is not. While not totally blackout, I did not purchase for such use.

Nice, soft and heavy velvet curtains with a liner. They do a decent job of blocking light, but I would not call them blackout. They are more like heavy, old-school curtains, missing the special liner that blocks all light. That said, heavy old-school curtains have been good enough for people to sleep during the day for generations and these are no exception. I think they'll be fine for daytime sleeping for me - and anybody but the most light averse. I would not, however, use them in something like a home theater. Although you can barely see the embossed design on the curtain the quality is great, I get so many compliments on these! The color matched my couch, I paired it with a sheer curtain on a double rod. I picked up the sheet curtains (4panels) from a second hand store so the measurements aren’t perfect but it works for what I need it for. Not too heavy and absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!! It is not completely black out but we use them for my sons room for lap time and it blocks the majority of light out. We got them on sale and wasn’t too bad. Expensive but worth it! Brings the whole room together! Update! It has been literally 2 years and i JUST noticed that 2 of my panels are different form the other 2 i bought in the same order. All the same color, but 2 have the long diamonds all the way across and the other 2 have a long diamond and then a line and then long diamond, line, all the way across. not sure what happened here but kind of odd... at least the color matches and its so undetectable that i only noticed it 2 years after the fact. ... show more

    • Be careful with yellow light, as it will add to the color and make this item look brown.
This color absorbs color. So, if you use yellow light... it looks a different color. To me it's a dirty brown color. Or tan... to me its dirt colored when yellow hits it. Covers about 45 percent of the light if used as a single panel and about 75 as a double panel. Get a darker color if you want black out or get the front panel a darker color. The blue and green in this is an amazing looking color. The five stars is due to price (probably cause of returns) the easy of application, the quality, and the subtle hints of pattern that I can detect. Wish they had more colors, like a dark red. ... show more
