These were a great replacement for the old Wooden ones I had. They go together relatively easy. The slats were all pre assembled. I happened to go with the Black ones as they were on sale. We generally use these around our firepit late in the day, so heat from the sun would not generally be an issue. This comes semi-assembled, with the seat and back already put together out of their component parts, and then there are several more bits to attach. The piece I'm holding in the first photo seems as though it might as well have already been attached to the front of the seat at the factory rather than leaving it for the buyer to screw in place. It took about 40 minutes to assemble, doing it by myself. (I see now that they suggest it's a two-person job, but only at one point, attaching the back to the seat, did I really feel like a second person would've come in handy.) The instructions are reasonably clear, and the provided screwdriver and bolt driver are functional, with easy-to-hold cross-pieces. I used my own ratchet screwdriver, but I wouldn't expect that to be included. What was provided is good enough, and it's nice that the seller doesn't expect us to have all the tools on hand. Once assembled, the chair is comfortable and seems solid with a 200-pound person sitting in it. It should be easier to maintain than painted or stained wood. Since it's molded plastic, rather than milled, cut, and painted wood, though, it seems a bit higher priced than necessary. I see there's currently a $40 coupon off the $160 price, and that's pretty reasonable. ... show more

It took a bit to get this chair assembled. It was a little confusing but definitely worth it. I love the laid-back style of Adirondack chairs and since this one is made of sturdy plastic hopefully it will last a very long time!

My relationship with Adirondack chairs goes back to the days when I was a small lad on our family farm back in New England. I saw this and said to myself, I have to get one. I’m nearly 70 years old now and I wasn’t sure how well I would do since some assembly is required. The assembly was easy even at my age. When you receive the chair, it is already about 60% assembled and you are about 6 steps away from final completion. The parts are all clearly labeled and the hardware is all separated into bags so there is no guess work as to what belongs where. The assembly instructions are clear and well written with diagrams for every step in the assembly process. The included tools are so well designed with extra big grips on both the screw driver and Allen wrench. The parts all fit together nicely and the pre-drilled wholes were exactly where they needed to be. You just shouldn’t tighten the bolts until full assembly is completed. I’m over 6 feet tall and weigh 275 lbs. and I fit in the chair with no problem at all. The chair folds up for easy storage. The chair is made from a rigid plastic with a wood grain pattern so it is virtually maintenance free. The toughest thing about owning this chair is when I have to get out of it to go inside.
