I'm an avid long-distance cyclist and a big fan of Brooks leather saddles. I'd rather buy a junker bike and put a good Brooks seat on it than spend $$ on a higher-end bike only to have it stolen. However, after my last bike was stolen (the Brooks saddle was easily twice the price of the rest of the bike), I decided to try a cheaper leather seat. This seat is made of beautiful, thick full grain leather. It's breaking in well and so, so, so gorgeous on my vintage folding bike. The only down-side is that the seat is pretty heavy, but let's face it, if you're buying this seat, you're doing it for the retro look and comfort, not speed.

The seat looks good and is comfortable enough. Was disappointed with the quality of the chrome plating. The seat is decent but I’m looking better quality. The seller needs better Quality Control. Also there were wrench marks on the hardware. Possible used beforehand but not certain. I was disappointed when I saw this I have a hard time believing that anyone would find this acceptable. I’m returning the seat and will shop another seller. It is a nice looking seat and the leather is good. If the chrome wasn’t blemished I would of kept it.

Admittedly, I have not ridden on it yet. When it arrived, it was in the single digits. I actually thought I was ordering a different seat; one with three coil springs supporting the saddle. But, the more I looked at this design, I decided this one would be more stable, with a certain amount of torsion spring in the front and two coils in the back. I generally object to buying Chinese stuff. But, the similar Brooks seat is over $200. This one was about $40. This is two layers of leather making it very thick. That's why I should probably wait to ride it before reviewing it. It may be too thick to give the "give" of a Brooks. I bought this one ostensibly to go on my folding bike. But, I am going to put it on one of my old Raleigh Sports 3-speeds, which should be period more or less correct. I am looking forward to warm weather, for more than one reason, not the least of which is to try this saddle out. I trust I won't be disappointed.

I'd have given this a 5-star review, right up until yesterday, if I'd bothered writing a review after my purchase, over two years ago, because even though one of the rivets on the front pulled loose from its metal underpinning *very soon* after purchase, that barely had any effect on riding comfort, and the seat's array of brown leather and chrome springs just looks terrific, for the price! But yesterday, the two lower chrome bars on the right side snapped, just behind where they cross the seat post. For all I know, maybe one of the bars was already snapped, and the second one just snapped, but either way: while it is fortunately still ride-able, in the short term, it needs to be replaced. I see someone who purchased a very similar saddle on Amazon, at very nearly the same price point, under the weirdly spelled brand name of "UNISTRENGH" (really, no T?), reported a very similar problem at the two year mark, as well. So, I'd assert, it's an issue, yeah? I have to assume that Brooks saddles are made with a higher quality metal, yeah? And being made in England, I'm sure their staff is better paid than whoever's putting these together. At any rate, if a Brooks saddle lasts me 6 years without getting stolen off my bike, then it'll be cheaper than the 2 years I've gotten out of this... but that's a *LOT* to ask, in SF, these days! THIS seat looks so good, that I'm SURE its lack of a Brooks tag is a big part of what's kept it on my bike for the 2 years I got out of it! Oh, what to do...
