Color: light grey. Super large cat penthouse tree was very easy to assemble. You MUST thoroughly read the instructions with this and take your time. Don't just try to guess! I think I spent about 90 minutes putting it together, because I missed seeing a couple of the right screw holes due to the fur covering them, so it took a little extra time. The structure is made of wood, with a covering of a lightweight fur textile - sort of like a fluffly bathroom rug. The fur is not removable for washing, so you will need to rake, lint roll, or vacuum it with a hand held or nozzle attachment. You might also consider laying in blankets that you can remove and wash regularly. There are 2 extra pom-pom balls in addition to the 3 that come installed already. There's 1 metal washer included for the round hammock section, so you can swivel it around horizontally to any position. It's made with a very thick and sturdy metal ring as the outer foundation, and my little cat toook a nap in it already - it held up well. The 3 upper square platforms are little beds with thick cushioning inside and along the walls. The first floor level has a woven scratching mat, and all the poles are scratching posts as well. I'm not excited about the white rope, as it tends to shred and shed easily, but my cats use their dark rope posts regularly, so I think they'll use this mostly for the beds. I love the little peek-a-boo holes in the 2nd floor box; the cat looked so cute with his face peeking through. This tree is suitable for floor level at apprx 5 ft tall. You'll need a 23in x 23in area of clearance for the base and top tower's overhang to fit. I also tried placing this higher up, on top of a dresser. There's a sturdy strap screwed in at the back with a metal grommet for mounting to the wall for securing the entire unit to prevent any tipping. I was going to place this on my giant desk initially, but it turned out to be much bigger than I expected, so I've been doing some rearranging to find the right place. This sized tree is perfect for a multi-cat home, with 6 private napping beds to accomadate everyone. This is definitely the biggest cat tree I've ever tried out before. There's more than enough room for all to fit together, so I like it! Even the little dog took a nap on the first level. Very cozy. At the time of this listing the price is $109. I know other trees this size can begin at over $200-300 at retail stores, so I think it's much more economical to begin with a complete kit like this, rather than to buy individual sections to build your own from scratch. My cats love this cat tree! It’s more like a cat mansion but it’s great! They lay on it for hours on end and play hide and seek with each other on the different levels. It seems like it’s all of our new favorite pastime activity. It was super easy to put together and it’s not wobbly like some others I’ve gotten! This was really easy to put together. It comes with the tools you need but I cheated and used a drill so it took no time at all! I did have to keep stopping because my cats were all over it. It's really sturdy and looks great. I also love that the little balls that dangle aren't stapled on like they are on previous cat trees I've had, these are tied onto little metal loops so if they pull one off, you can just tie it back on.
