The ideal pet toy is one that you can use to play with your pet, but also, the pet can play with it happily on their own. This toy meets that requirement fairly well. Fundamentally, it's along the same lines of the old-school inflatable clown with a weighted base - you can punch him and he'll roll down, then pop back up again. This works the same way, with the little yellow ball on an antenna causing the round base to wobble around and wave the yellow ball at your kitty, keeping them interested. You can bop the ball yourself, or let the cat do it; either way, it works. Sure enough, the cats do enjoy playing with it. The ball base seems pretty sturdy. I'm not as confident in the antenna or yellow ball; only time will tell if they break, and if they do, the toy will become basically just a weird ball that rolls unpredictably. There's one other interesting feature - there are ports where you can dump kibble or treats into the ball, so that as it wobbles around, it disgorges them for the kitty. This is an interesting idea! Unfortunately, it doesn't seem so well thought through. There aren't any instructions, but, I did figure out a way to get the top of the ball off. The trouble is, that access is pretty small. So, I imagine over time the inside of the ball would get desperately dirty... not really where you want your cat feeding from. I won't be using that feature, alas. For a future version, I'd suggest either making a better way to open up the base ball so it can be thoroughly cleaned, or, giving up on the food-dispensing idea and instead putting a noisemaker in, like a bell or some rattles. Or both!

Got this so our one very vocal cat would stop bugging us for treats all day when we worked from home. One of our 3 cats, the old barn cat who is not afraid of anything, goes right up to it, pushes it gently, and waits for the treats to come out. The other 2 cats are skittish...one of them got bopped in the face with the hard ball on top the first time they encountered this thing and now he won't go anywhere near it...the other one is just a scaredy cat in general and won't approach this toy at all LOL. It has been 2 weeks and still no dice with the skittish cats. I can't say any of them actually enjoy it as a toy, but one did at least figure out how it works. SO although it did not work for all of our cats, it does work for SOME cats. Not always the ones you want it to work for. I like that you can adjust the size of the treat-dispensing hole with the slider on the outside of the toy.

My cat was not impressed that he had to fight for treats today, but as soon as he realized HOW to do it he removed every last one of them and then walked away like "there mom, I did it...whats your next trick!"...time to up my game I guess!!! At least he didn't steal the ball on the top!

The cats are still learning the function of it and I do like how sturdy it is. It doesn’t tip over on itself and stay down. It comes right back up
