I purchased this for my cat's 6 birthday on May 25th. It came the next day and assembly (even with the cat's assistance) was quick and easy. There is no chemical odor or odors at all as can be the case with some other posts of this type. She used it immediately and continues to multiple times a day. It has become her favorite scratching post. It is holding up very well and shows little sign of wear on the post. She is 15 pounds yet it remains upright and stable under rigorous scratching and stretching. She shows basically no interest in the nice toys that are attached. The cats love it, but my orange boy bit the toys off not even 30 mins after it was set up. All except the one toy with the bell in it. He's kept that one on there.....

It took my cat a while to use it, but after a week or so, he loves it. I have an adult cat and it's the perfect height. He doesn't care much for the toys but loves the height to scratch.

I was able to replace my ratty old scratching post with this and my cat goes crazy with this new post, so I am mostly happy with this. My husband has noticed that the cat does not seem to scratch for as long as she used to on previous posts, so it may not be as effective as our previous post, but the cat likes it and uses it. There are a few features that I think could be improved. The smell of the sisal was very strong and like chemicals when I took it out of the box. I do not remember if this is typical but I figured my cat is scratching it not eating it so I ignored the smell. The balls hanging off the post are fun for the cat but the two at the top quickly got entangled. They are attached with elastic, but I did not want to risk my cat getting a claw stuck, so I cut off the plastic ball and left a single toy on the top. Finally the base is pretty weak. The base (that I received) is folded in half and you have to open it and attach it, keeping it open with a large washer. My whole scratcher rocked wildly when the cat scratched it and she learned she could climb the scratcher and knock it over easily. I have since replaced the base with an old one that was a solid piece of wood. I think the PELUOMOZ manufacturer should make a single solid wood base or at least revise the design to make the base sturdier for such a tall scratching post. My new base is not much bigger, just more solid and the post has not been knocked over again. I still think this new scratcher was cheaper at list ($20) than my old one and taller, which is good for my cat, so it still gets 4 stars. I recommend shoppers to never throw away scratching post bases or any other little attachments you find useful! They may be compatible with future purchases. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. My kitten was attacking the posts before I even started assembling them. He is very high energy and he loves it. The sisal does have a slight odor, and is darker than usual. I don't know if it is dyed but the description says natural sisal so I am ok with it. We have 4 other scratching posts so it won't be the only one he uses. He was on it at each step of the assembly and really loves how tall it is. As a Maine Coon he will get tall so I wanted something that he could really stretch on. For now he loves climbing it and I will be looking for a floor to ceiling pole for him next. See video. I will be happy to get a year from it if he outgrows it. ... show more

It was fairly simple to put this scratch post together but it has been a couple of months and my cat won’t touch it unfortunately. It may be fine for others. Construction is good.

Our two kittens LOVE trying to knock this thing over. It's like they're being so destructive and take off and hope to get away with it. None of our other cat trees are capable of being knocked over because they're massive and they're really rough going through it. They try that same force on this thing every time KNOWING it's going to fall over. It's fun to watch their silliness. They do seem to like it has a scratching post laying down. They actually use it more like that. ... show more
