  • Great rugged phone
I have had this phone for a year and a half and I have been very pleased with it. This is a very rugged phone. I have dropped it on hard surfaces a countless amount of times with barely any structural damage. The fingerprint sensor did stop working after a particularly hard drop from a very high height (much higher than the rated 6 ft drop specs), but that is my fault for mishandling the phone. I see other reviews on here with pictures of this phone is abysmal condition, and the reviewers complaining the phone is not rugged enough. I have no idea what those people are doing to their phone to leave it is such poor condition, it is almost as if they are actively trying to destroy the phone. Let me assure you though, this phone is extremely rugged made of solid material with a strong frame and a nice rubber layer on the back. Performance is great as well. I could go in depth on the performance and its features but will just say it functions well for everyday use and the price point vs performance is very well balanced. Keep in mind it is a mid tier phone though, do not expect it to perform the same as a fragile $2,000 iphone. Overall, it is a great rugged phone, with pretty good performance for a very reasonable price. It is one of the best phones I have owned. A side note, almost anyone that sees me using this phone ask what type it is, and comments on how much the like it. ... show more

  • Worse than the last version....
While the phone may be extremely durable it suffers from very poor performance and battery life. The phone often looses so much memory that it can only run one app at a time before it completely freezes it has to be reset. I have also gone through three different units each with a battery failure. I thought all of these problems would be fixed with the new model but they just got worse. ... show more

  • You should seriously consider this phone!!
This phone is everything they advertised, and extremely durable. As far as that goes, I am basically the phone terminator - they usually only make it a few months with me. I have had this one for 2-1/2 years and it is still going strong. As for features and network compatibility, this thing is great: Network - I am using it on T-mobile, no issues. I routinely have a strong signal when others around me have no signal, so the radio in it has plenty of power. When I am in remote mountain areas, sometimes I do have to roam on AT&T and that works fine too (although AT&T claims these phones will not work on their network). Operating system - Android 11, very easy to navigate, and aligns well with the number and placement of buttons on this phone. This phone was so easy to learn, I often felt like I was missing something somewhere. Everything makes sense and no hoops to jump through to use features. Apps - This phone has no extra junk, and no built in ads. I love this. If I want an app, it's Android so I can can add it, but I like it lean and mean. Less is better. If you ever had a Samsung and all their extra junk and ads, you will really appreciate this phone. Thermal imaging - it can see hot or cold spots in superb detail around my house, although the actual temperature readings aren't necessarily spot on - distance from target can account for a degree or two, but it does illustrate temperature differences very well. I have found hot spots in my roof to add more insulation, a leaking hot water line in a wall, as well as underground sprinkler leaks. Touchscreen - I really struggle with touchscreens because I am a contractor and my hands are always either wet or super dry and cracked. This is the best touchscreen I had ever used. It is sensitive and accurate, but not too much so. It does work great with wet hands. Sound quality is super, voices are clear and music is clean, which I was worried about due to the extra waterproofing. The ringtone can be set to an obnoxious level if you're like me and never hear your phone ring. Extra storage - it will read and use a 256 gig micro SD Battery life - I am a minimalist on phone feature usage but it is very solid, often going a week between charges. It is the original battery so that is pretty good after 2-1/2 years. The Power Bank – If you are considering the bundle with the power bank, I have 3 of them. They can charge the phone from zero to full 3-4 times before needing charged, and can hold a full charge for months. Great little back up!! ... show more

  • Almost...so so so close...
This phone reviewed very well with exception to two key features. First, a list of what is very good about the phone. The fingerprint reader is in the perfect position and works very well. The single 12mp camera is surprisingly good. It is comparable to that of a Note 9 or S10. The battery seems to be unending. The screen resolution is outstanding...and this is coming from am AMOLED user. The speaker is bottom mounted and projects a very decent sound. Lastly, the thermal imaging system is the best I've every used. Its high resolution Lepton 3.5 system is simply...amazing. This phone is a ridiculous bargain when you realize you get a 3.5 sensor. In testing, the thermal system was able to located water mains below asphalt!!! It could also pick up residual wetness with almost pin point accuracy. Overall the handset is very good and as rugged as every review claims. The phone is well sized and easily fits in a pocket. There were a few shortcoming that made using this phone a less than optimal experience. First, if you are accustomed to wireless charging...this phone does not support that and it seems like a chore to have to plug in something that is this advanced. It might seem petty, but it makes a big difference when you actually use the device as intended. In fact, it is strange that for a phone intended for "professional use" that there are no POGO points for cradle charging. That would have been welcomed in the absence of qi charging. A second notable shortcoming was phone call quality. It would seem that the both the mic gain is too high and that noise suppression is not used. Every phone call I made with this phone was reported as noisy and poor. Unless you take a call in a quiet room, the phone itself is the weakest feature of this...phone. There appears to be no way to adjust or tweak this setting with ease. The review points on amazon request a rating for "Battery Life" "touch screen" and "picture quality". IN all honesty, these three items are actually very good: 4.5 stars each. However, the phone quality combined with the lack of wireless charging seems like 2 steps backwards coming from any handset made in the last few years. I would say this phone is like a rugged iphone 8 or galaxy 7/8 with an amazing thermal camera. ... show more

  • Great Rugged Phone, Excellent Features
I've had this phone for three months now. It's phenomenal. The screen is beautiful. The camera is not the best in the world, but it's solid. The performance is as good as you could ask for. Due to circumstances beyond my control, we had to migrate to Verizon from T-Mobile. This phone will only partially work on Verizon. With a Verizon SIM you can make and receive calls, use data, and send text messages, but you cannot receive them. The phone I picked up from Verizon for my new plan is the Kyocera DuraForce Ultra 5g. The CAT S62 Pro is superior to the DuraForce 5G in every way with the exception of 5G access as the S62 Pro is a 4G only phone. I like my CAT S62 Pro so much better I'm actually returning my Kyocera and am going to find a prepaid service to activate my CAT S62 Pro with. ... show more

  • I wanted to like this phone, but....
This would be my second CAT phone. I love the thermal and ruggedness of this phone as I carry my phone at work in an industrial environment. My older CAT phone worked with my carrier - this one does not.(For reasons the carrier could not provide) so I had to switch carriers. Positives: It's rugged, simple, programmable key, the thermal was useful for me to identify potential issues in the facility and I didn't have to carry a large imager around. I like the grippiness of it and how hefty it feels. I like that it did not come loaded with too much bloatware. Negatives: The CAT/Bullitt software was buggy. There is also input lag, phantom presses, non-responsiveness, although my last CAT was like this too. The software has bugs that have not been addressed for years now. I also did not like the difficulty changing the save path for the cameras. It automatically saves to Google Photos and the software makes it difficult to change this. There is no included gallery (except Photos), the IR software has it's own library path. The battery life in the phone I received was terrible. My old CAT lasted for days of frequent use. This model barely made it through a day of light use at work. My other complaint is I feel it is overpriced for not being able to support 5G or the newest VoLTE tech. You are really just paying a premium for the IR camera. I really wanted to like this phone and I am a fan of CAT/Bullitt products, but this one is being returned. ... show more

  • So much potential ruined by very buggy software.
I had such high hopes for this phone and with proper software updates maybe it can be a great option for tradesmen but the compromises I fear are to great even for the average user. First off, This is a phone and every cellphone on the market should excel given the available technology at making and receiving phone calls. This phone however has the worst call quality I've ever experienced on any phone I've ever owned. It constantly drops calls no matter the reception. It randomly decides that it wants to be on speaker phone that you can't turn off. Every single person I tried to call or receive a call from complained that I sounded garbled and choppy. I resorted to using bluetooth headphones just to have some semblance of a decent call. The camera app on initial phone setup wouldn't even open and would crash immediately. I had to to a complete reset twice just to get it to even kinda work. The camera however is akin to flip phone quality from 10 years ago. It ruined my daughter's homecoming pictures with blurry underexposed photos. No clarity at all. I understand this is a lower mid range processor but it takes so long to load the average app or webpage that it times out and gives up frequently. Even the flir camera that I had hoped to use is subpart in execution. Honestly this is one of the most garbage phones I've ever used. I'd rather slap a massive case on any other phone than to use this heavy hunk of useless phone ever again. The best parts of it are definitely amazing battery life and that it's built like a tank. Not even the one speaker can be considered adequate in today's day and age. Very disappointing and I was super excited when I ordered it. I was willing to live with some performance compromises but this phone has too many to live with. I'm returning it and it will most likely be the only Cat phone I ever try to own ever again. ... show more

  • GREAT TOOL, decent phone.
You buy this phone for the FLIR capabilities and then you find yourself using the the thermal camera more than you realize. I have used the camera for finding wall studs, identifying drafts at doors and windows, have located a rats nest in my shed, and used it for vehicle maintenance. It's also waterproof which means I have no problem using it in the pool or when bathing. Being a rugged phone means I don't need to buy a case. Have dropped it a couple times with virtually no damage. Other pros: -battery is amazing. Can last up to 2 days and charges really fast. -programmable button. Use it for FLIR camera and flashlight functions. The only cons: -Camera is low res (so it can overlay images with the FLIR camera) -Apps can be a little laggy at times -no wireless charging ... show more
