If you read the data sheets on this, it is comprised of groups 1 2 and 3 oils. Those are all conventional!! Castrol was the first to make fake synthetics. Mobil 1 sued them, however the courts said its fine to market any oil as synthetic. They of course don't care about Americans. Then if you go on Castrols website. They recommend 3000 mile oil change intervals with this. Thats a whole lot less than Mobil 1, which rates super synthetic at 7500, M1 at 10k then ep and ap 15k and 20k. Any oil with the API seal is good for 3000 miles!! You can just go with the cheapest Walmart supertech. I am not some Mobil 1 super fan, however if you read Valvoline, Pennzoil, Castrol oils web pages, they all recommend 3000 mile oil changes!! If their oil is so great, why doesn't it last? I bought this oil because it was cheaper than Mobil 1, but after doing some research won't buy again. ... show more

Just wanna start off that this is a genuine review, not fake. I've been an vehicle repair technician in the auto industry (both dealership and independent sides) for nearly 5 years now and I've never had an issue with Castrol products. I've used them in my Ford's 4.6L V8 engines as well as the GM 2.4L 4-cylinder and Chrysler 3.7L V6 Magnum ones . While motors oil is generally miscible regardless of the brand used (so long as it's the same viscosity grade), I have enjoyed Castrol's cleaning power and ability to lubricate the cylinder walls in my current vehicle. And to those who say their oil turns black after 3000 miles of use, please consider other factors including high vehicle mileage (for the engine's life, especially at 200K miles), carbon build-up, cross-contamination from old oil/ previous oil changes and burnt fuel from decreased compression values due to worn piston rings. Working previously for one of the domestic vehicle manufacturers, we were replacing full synthetic oil in vehicles @ 4000-5000 miles of use, regardless of the engine displacement and cylinder count. ... show more

    • Great Price for a Great Oil - Recommended!

Received a great price for a great oil. But sadly since that great price I have only seen that price available to Prime Members. I have been using Castrol GTX since the 1980's and have always sworn by it being it has never let me down. I have never had an blow a seal, gasket, leak or burn oil while using Castrol GTX. And that is saying a lot as I use to be very hard on my vehicles, and can still be from time to time. One time I busted a hole in my radiator by accident in a parking lot over 15 miles from home. Having no tools or anything with me to fix the problem and being it was late night on a friday I had no choice. But to drive the car home as fast as I could before I lost all the radiator fluid and in turn over heating the car. Well long story short, the car made it home but was long out of antifreeze and the temperature gauge was buried in the red. Fearful for the engine I allowed the vehicle to sit over night to cool off. And the next day she started right up and was as good as always. I have always credited that moment to the fact I had Castrol GTX in the car and in turn is what saved the engine from the excessive heat. As I have not had the same luck other brand names of oil, as I have replaced two engines while using the brand name M. one. Due to my history with and without Castrol GTX motor oil, when I made my recent purchase of a high mileage Chevrolet Blazer 4x4 as a fun, toy around vehicle to haul things with and to play in the snow. Of course I drained the old motor oil out and gave her a fresh batch of Castrol GTX. I did the same for our other car as well. I would easily recommend this product to my friends and family. The oil arrived safely and in a timely manner. I was actually surprised they could ship motor oil as I figured that would be a hazard, but I guess the post office knows better. If you have a Prime Membership, you can almost always find Castrol GTX cheaper on Amazon than at any retail location even with a coupon or on sale. We were not paid nor discounted in any way, shape or form for giving our honest opinion here of this product as a review to assist others. We believe, as a family, it is important to give an honest and accurate review to assist others so they can make good purchasing decisions that can benefit them and their family. And not be lead to cheap, unwanted purchases that are scripted by advertisers to buy their products.     • Made my car purr quietly again.

Castrol is my go-to for oil changes. I have used it exclusively in my 2005 PT cruiser with happy results. After passing 80k miles, I decided to give the High Mileage version a try. Immediately after turning the car on after the oil change, the engine was noticeably quieter and drove a lot smoother. I have kept with this version of Castrol and my engine is still running smoothly. I like it enough that I plan on using it exclusively for my cruiser until I get a new car. Pros: * Created a noticeable improvement on my high mileage car over standard blends. * The price on Amazon is usually much cheaper then any local store. * Ships fast and I have never had a leaky bottle. Cons: * The price on Amazon can shift drastically from time to time, so just double check the price before purchase. Overall I recommend this product for higher mileage vehicles needing a blended oil. ... show more
