I purchased this so my 12 year old daughter could make a personalized gift for her grandmother. We made the flower pots together, and she loved painting them. Not only was the finished product a cute and well-received gift, but it was a fun project for us to work on together. I would highly recommend! I bought this as a summer project for my children. It was easy enough to mix in the bag and pour into the mold for casting, but while trying to remove the very tight rubber mold you must be careful not to crack the pot. I was able to successfully remove #1 and #3, but my obviously too forceful twist motion cracked the second one into many pieces. (I wasn't twisting that hard, but still cracked.) When mixing in the bag, there seems to be quite a bit of material left over after filling the mold. It threw me off on the first because it was very runny with the minimum amount of water it states to add. I suppose this is due to the funnel required to fill it. It did set up in the hour stated and they did have a good time painting the remaining 2. Since I have the mold, which is reusable, I will be able to save it and purchase more material separately. I think this would be cute for my herb seeds to be displayed in the home. We are just in planting phase for the seeds, so I am not sure how they will flower..... but so far, happy overall with the purchase. ... show more

I don't know if my flower pot mold was damaged but I've only been able to produce one decent flower pot out of the 3 I have tried and even that one did not turn out very well on the top rim edge. When I pour the mixture into the mold, it does fill up and seep through the little holes on top as it is supposed to but the mixture also leaks out one side of the edge of the mold so I've had to keep adding more of the liquid material to get it full. I've tried several times to get the mold to seal correctly but it behaves the same each time, doesn't seem to seal tightly on one side, and some of the mixture pours out of one side. On the first try, there must have been an air pocket near the bottom and so there was a hole and the material was also very thin in that entire area. For the second one, I tried to tamp it a bit to get any air pockets out and that flower pot turned out fairly well and is usable. The third try (not shown) ended up with a hole in the side again but the top rim turned out well. The pots are somewhat difficult to remove from the mold since you can't really use any hard pressure but I massaged them out carefully and did get them to come out within a few minutes. Mixing the material was easy and the instructions were clear and easy to understand. The paints, seeds, flower tray, and small wooden planter stakes are nice and the brushes and paint pallet tray are all decent to use. I plan to continue trying to make these little flower pots but they are just not as easy to make as I thought they would be. Even if the pots came out perfectly, this kit still seems overpriced in my opinion. ... show more

    • Great Gift for Younger Kids Who Like Hands-On Projects
Bought this for nine year old daughter and she is really enjoying making the pots and painting them. The kids came with everything, even flower seeds which I was not expecting. The kit comes with three bags of dried plaster and one mold, and each one takes about an hour to set. So that means either doing one a day, like we did, or spending a day making the molds. In any case, it's fun, creative, and they get to make something out of nothing - which is always a good experience for kids. ... show more
