I get on these kicks looking at dog beds, in search of the perfect one. I'm not going to say this one is perfect, but it's my favorite we've ever had! We have a 65 pound boxer who is 3 years old. He likes to sleep on anything comfy (that may or may not be made for dogs). As you can see in the pictures, he enjoys his Casper bed! So it is dog approved - he lays on it often and both curls up and stretches out. He likes the bolsters. But I also approve it! I like how thick and firm the mattress is and the 4 bolster inserts. The cover material is sturdy and feels like it'll last (it's been in the washer and dryer just once so far), but still comfy enough to attract the pup. I like how they designed the cover and zippers - putting it together is easy and it holds it's original shape. The only thing I wish is that there was a size between the medium and large. We got the large and I wish it were a tad smaller. But I think the medium would be too small since he does like to stretch out, too. It doesn't bother me enough to want a different bed. If I do buy him another bed, it will likely be this very one. I'm telling you, we've had several brands and styles... And I'm really liking this one. Pricier than I've spent on dog beds, but I'm glad I did! ... show more

We have an elderly dog with declining mobility and most dog beds are too fluffy - they catch on her feet when she tries to turn to lay down, or they have high side bolsters that she can't get over very well. This bed is perfect for her. The firmness of the foam is just right to cushion her joints and bones while supportive enough for her to walk on without getting caught up. The side bolsters are very slight - just enough to give stability to the edges of the bed and a slight rise for her head, without being a tripping hazard. The design is the best-thought-out that I have encountered. Each foam section has a liner covering, and the actual cover has a seperate zip compartment for the main central rectangle - there's no squeezing or smashing of stuffing into place - everything slots in smoothly, zips with a nice fit and hidden zipper, and the end of the zipper is even covered to protect the floor. And I know that it will be easy to remove and replace the cover for washing. My *only* complaint is that we really need a size between medium and large - large is really really big, but medium is too small for our dog. Kudos to Casper for a great, well-thought out product! ... show more

Casper Grey dog large is durable, sturdy and attractive. Arrived well packed with simple, easy to follow instructions. Fabric is thick and durable, foam is thick and firm yet soft, pet comfy. I ordered a large for my Corgi so because he can stretch out on the flat floor portion and also use the bolsters as a pillow, he keeps his favorite toys (Kong) inside his dog bed, you know how dogs love their toys. ... show more

    • The Dog Loves It
I bought this bed based on a review from the NYTimes Wirecutter right before our puppy was spayed, as we knew there was no way she could get into her crate while wearing that ridiculous cone the vet sends them home with. Sadie is a 40-pound, 6-month-old Coonhound Beagle mix. We bought the medium in beige. I honestly thought it would be memory foam for the price and was surprised and disappointed that it wasn't. I mean, really. That's why people buy Casper in the first place, isn't it? So far, it has held up very well, with my chief complaints being shrinkage and pilling. I washed and dried it following the instructions and was disappointed that it shrank enough that getting the foam bumpers back into the bed is difficult. Because beagles like to dig, I bought this bed because it has a lil extra fabric on the top that makes them feel like they're nesting... but it shrank so much that there's really nothing for her to nest with. That being said, it hasn't shrunk any farther and it gets washed once a week (because puppy). The suede fabric on the top of the bed has also pilled. Other than that, it has stood up to ~1 month of digging, pawing, being dragged around the living room, and sharp puppy teeth without one single tear or catch in the fabric anywhere (and believe me, I've looked). It does get a lil messy when she eats a treat on it, but that's why we have a washing machine. Some OxyClean and it comes out looking great. As for Sadie's opinion? She completely loves it—so much that it has pretty much cured her of getting up on the couch... no small feat! She fits beautifully on it and even has enough room to lay on her side and stretch out her legs when sleeping (though most times she's curled up).
