  • Perfect as a first keyboard
Color: Orange Style: SA-76, Orange Pattern: Keyboard
I wanted to get a keyboard for my 5-year old son on his birthday, and I spent good amount of time to decide whether to go for a low-end 88-key (~$200) or this $49 44-key keyboard. Hope my review saves some time of others. We have been using it for couple of months now, and the features which we love are: (1) The sound is loud and clear. (2) It is very light weight (3) We did not buy adapter, and didn't have to replace battery since we bought it (about 4 months). (4). Features (2) and (3) make it very convenient to play the keyboard at any location and in any position! (on the sofa, on the bed, on the carpet, etc.) (5) It has 99 sounds, which gives a good exposure to a young child. Maybe they all are not good for playing a song, but the range of sounds expand the child's horizon (6) There is one push button by which one can toggle between piano mode and organ mode, which sounds similar to Indian harmonium (reed organ), and this feature is very handy if you are exploring both piano and harmonium (7) One can use headphone, and can play it silently, useful if you're exploring 'music theory' in the middle of the night! All in all this is great keyboard to introduce a child as well as an adult to piano, to determine if someone has enough interest to invest into a costlier full-fledged keyboard in future. Also if a child or an adult can play other instrument, he/she can translate and correlate the music theories he/she already knows. Some additional comments: we printed out rhymes with piano notation written in letters (A, B, C, ..., and not in staff notation) for our child, and he enjoyed it greatly. Also we bought piano stickers and put on it (had to cut short the stickers to accommodate). The bright stickers look good and they have staff notation on them as well. ... show more

  • Portable small and fun to squeeze in some practice time. Good for kids
Color: Orange Style: SA-76, Orange Pattern: Keyboard
Thanks to the reviewers and musicians below, I purchased this tiny keyboard in order to practice scales etc away from my gigantic keyboard- No way can I drag out that thing every day or for a few minutes of practice! It’s just what I needed to help me squeeze in some more practice time. It was very inexpensive for my purposes. I also have very little hands and this helps me also. It is polyphonic - a few keys play a once although limited in the fullness of the sound. I might even take it to work to practice on my lunch break, it’s so small that it’s very portable. If you have big hands it may not work for you. For a kid just starting out with lessons it would be good too. There are earphones too, moms. You can buy a common electric cord also. It’s too nice for a toddler to bang around. On some advanced topics: Some of the reviewers said that there wasn’t a capacity for changing the tuning. It is clearly in the manual how. But I purchased a very expensive key board to reach middle eastern semitones and even that was very tricky. I think you need a computer connected synthesizer for that or a $4000 dollar keyboard from Corg I believe. Don’t try to reach microtones on anything other than that or a fret less stringed instrument. I am happy that I have this for ability to practice scales and melodies. ... show more

  • Basic keyboard fills niche - SA76 review
Color: Orange Style: SA-76, Orange Pattern: Keyboard
The SA line (including the smaller 32 key version) works because it fills the niche for a portable battery powered (perhaps even disposable) keyboard that isn't a toy. Its keys are just big enough to accommodate adult hands, and its 8 note polyphony is enough for any learning piano player. At such a low price point the SA keyboards are definitely lacking in a lot of departments, most of which is completely excusable. For instance, the keys aren't velocity sensitive, there's no midi-out, no included power adapter, nor even a metronome function. This latter omission seems strange to me, since they've included 50 percussion patterns which can be sped up or down, and there's even a picture of a metronome on the lcd screen. Other functions which are common on the more expensive casios like actual music lessons, the ability to record your own songs, or the wonderful sampling function we all remember from the sk-1 days are absent as well. The bottom line on this keyboard depends on what you expect out of it. Whether it is for a child first learning piano, or some on-the-go keyboard practice, the SA series is a great, cheap instrument. Those looking for additional functionality, full-sized keys, better sound, feel, etc., you're going to need to invest in a more expensive, larger keyboard. ... show more

  • Perfect keyboard for kids!
Color: Orange Style: SA-76, Orange Pattern: Keyboard
Good keyboard, perfect size and price for kids, specially when you dont want to waste $100+ dollars for a profesional version you dont know they'll even use that much I see a lot of people complaining about coming dirty, broken and beat up. I am guessing its because this product seems to ship in its original "store shelf" box with the amazon label on it. And its very easy to open it so i can see it being opened while being shipped probably from the box cardboard tabs breaking. So make sure to check and try yours before the warranty runs out just incase. ... show more

  • Perfect for having fun with music and other sounds
Color: Orange Style: SA-76, Orange Pattern: Keyboard
Probably not for the serious musician. But if all you want is to have fun making your own music with a little assistance, this is perfect. Compact size, only 44 keys and they are a little smaller than standard but not so much that you have trouble playing it. You can play it comfortably on your lap. It has a headphone jack so you can play without disturbing others. It has a good array of tones and rhythms, plus some interesting sound effects. A couple of the tones don't seem to make any sound until you press and hold the keys. In one case you get the sound of a helicopter. My only negative is it doesn't come with a power supply. So you have to buy a power supply separately or run it on batteries. ... show more

  • Perfect little keyboard for CHEAP PRICE
Color: Orange Style: SA-76, Orange Pattern: Keyboard
This is a perfect little keyboard for little kids. Not too expensive that you can easily replace it if your kids break it like my kids did. Even though this keyboard maybe look cheap but the sound it puts out is AWESOME!. It is LOUD and CLEAR and has a lots of options when it comes to beats, rhythms, songs, tones, etc. It even has little display that shows you what notes you playing. Oh by the way, did I mention that this is our 3rd keyboard I bought for my kids. :) My kids (5 and 7) love it so much that they sometimes fight over this keyboard. :) So, I recommend this keyboard to everyone. ... show more

  • Not quite what I was looking for
Color: Orange Style: SA-76, Orange Pattern: Keyboard
I am a fairly new keyboard player but have played guitar for many years. As a guitarist, sometimes you just have your small guitar on your lap noodling while watching a movie. I was looking for a keyboard version of that. While the SA-76 is as advertised, the sound and action was not quite what I was looking for. The sound was thin and I couldn't tell a difference from all the different settings, they were all very similar. The action was bad and I would find myself playing double notes without trying or missing notes even though I was hitting the key. Now, I wasn't expecting this to sound and play like a Steinway but I needed something better. The keyboard I want doesnt exist or at least I haven't found it yet. I would say this is a high quality toy level piano and just make sure that you understand what this is and what it isn't. I kept it for my grandson. ... show more

  • Useful tool but not useful as an instrument
Color: Orange Style: SA-76, Orange Pattern: Keyboard
I wouldn't use this to practice piano music. Even 44 keys is too small for most of the music I play. But it works great as a portable piano when you're not playing music. I got tired of having to leave my office and go find the piano to check a sequence of notes in musical pieces I was preparing to sing or to chant for religious services. I can pull this out from under my desk. It also comes with A few pre-recorded songs. When you play them the sheet music appears on the screen, one measure at a time. That's not really effective for teaching someone who doesn't know how to play music, because you can't look ahead in the music. But it's fun to mess around with if you can sight read that fast. You can tell it whether to play the melody for you or to play only the accompaniment and play whatever notes you press. ... show more
