  • A classic look--the "square"--with tide graph and some color.
My first and only planned square. (I find it ironic that a watch tough enough to be your last lends itself to people buying more than they could ever wear...myself completely included, so I will resist any more purchases.) I have two other G-shocks and a ProTrek, and I bought this because it reminds me of my grandfather, who I recall may have worn the square since it was invented. Except this one has the tide graph, a feature he would be happy to have if he lived and fished where I do! ... The inventor of G-Shock is still wearing three colors of the first square model, so this honestly could be the last watch I need. Specific to this model, let's talk about the high gloss: I would have preferred a flat or matte finish for the band (agnostic about the bezel). To be sure, this is HIGH GLOSS, as glossy as you can get. But I'll say it doesn't look as bad on me as I expected. HOWEVER, if I or someone else wants to swap for another band, there are many, many options. One question I don't see clearly asked or answered is the band can be swapped with almost any other in the 5600 line, maybe even 5610. Do a search for "band compatibility" and the website shockbase.org--they have a full list. Then there are non-Casio aftermarket bands with adapters for NATO straps, etc. Would recommend ensuring high quality brand and durability. That said, for the bezel, it seems you can only swap with the other GWX-5600 variations. The buttons on this model are slightly different than most 5600s. ... show more

  • Great G-Shock Square, highly recommended.
I picked this square g shock mainly because unlike the GWM 5610, you can see the main time on the timer mode and stopwatch mode, and even on the alarm mode. The watch also has world time, atomic timekeeping, and it's solar powered. It took a little while to get the battery to high when I took it out for a spin, so it needed about an hour or so of continuous sunlight exposure. The battery has been on high ever since. The tide and moon graph is pretty accurate, or it at least is accurate enough that you get a general idea of what the tides will be like. The Moon graph is pretty accurate, as well. The timer is pretty interesting because the things you can do with it are cool. You get your regular timer plus a second one that you can set up to countdown after the first one does. Each one does up to 100 minutes or so, so it's almost like you have 2 timers. Or you can use one timer to go off 10 times. Say you need your timer to go off every 40 minutes in 10 intervals. That means you get a 40 minute alarm ten times. Hopefully the way I'm explaining it makes sense. Anyway, you have to get this watch in your hands to really understand it. If you really care about the current time being displayed in the stopwatch, timer, and alarm mode, then buy this watch. But if you wanna save money and don't care whether the current time doesn't show anywhere except in timekeeping mode, then the GWM 5610 is good, too. ... show more

A watch that can update itself by connecting to signals?! YES PLEASE! What a fantastic watch! It made me take off my expensive watches off my wrist and that's saying something. Can take a beating, battery lasts forever, can't go wrong with it. Use youtube to get a detailed guide on how to access all settings. It's phenomenal ! ... show more

  • Sought after
I’ve been eyeing this model for a long time and it does not disappoint. I like the tide and the moon features and it makes the watch look great. I didn’t like the shiny straps but they’re easy to replace. Replaced with a titanium strap and bezel mod.

  • Great little watch!
Didn't want a smart watch as the previous ones I've had only last a year or two and this one seems pretty future-proof with the solar battery and water and shock resistance. Setup wasn't too difficult for local area, Moon phase margin for error is a day either side but great for info at a glance.

  • Powerful watch for a reasonable price
I am very happy with this watch, solar powered so should not have any battery issue for a very long time. I wish the Radio time synchronization was also possible in the Southern Hemisphere as I visit there occasionally. When setting the radio sync - remember to set the Day Light Saving correctly - the watch did not want to sync properly until I did that. The Tide function is nice, I have it set for the closest area to me, I will try the feature at some point where you set it for exactly where you stay, and not relying on the cities they have programed into the watch. The count down timer is nice, I have set it for an alternating 3min/1 min for 10 repeats for when I am training on the Spinning bike. Moon phase display is very accurate. You can see the time in different cities too - also nice. Personally I would have preferred a less colorful strap and case. I would have liked something that had the features but more stealthy/muted ... show more

  • Not the size the product information said.
I purchased the watch because the product information said that the case size was 49 mm. Not so. It’s more like 40mm in size.
