As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, atomic timekeeping means the users never have to reset the time. Recently, Casio launched a series of Bluetooth watches that sync to the users cell phone to automatically update the time. Casio is always moving time forward. • Could NOT be more happy...
I have struggled with negative displays previously so I was hesitant. I took the plunge and holy CRAP I love this watch. The legibility of this screen is just unbelievable albeit requiring a tilt of the wrist as needed. At night with auto-illumination on, the display could NOT be more clear. This backlight is just fantastic and works so well. I added a set of bull bars to this watch and it enhances the already amazing durability of the watch as well. With its 200M of water resistance, this will EASILY handle every water exposure need that will ever need. Guess I'll have to call off my Bering Strait dive though. :-) This was could not be easier to use for sure. Very simple, clean interface, full of features for every activity, it literally hits the bill perfectly. Although it is NOT solar powered, for the money, you can't go wrong. If you are looking for solar power and MultiBand 6 to boot, look no further than the GW-M5610U-1B. While having a bit busier screen, this would be the closest one to this DW-5600 model. Don't think twice. Just buy it. NOW! ... show more

  • Fantastic! Fantastic!
Hands down my favorite watch. I use it every day for work. The pros: The auto-repeating timer is a life saver! Frankly, I'm disappointed more gshocks don't have that. It's something you never really realize you want till you have one, and then there is no going back. The watch itself keeps time accurate to 2-3 seconds a month for me, mine runs a little fast. The green backlight is great for night, but shows well in any dim light. The viewing angle doesn't bother be at all, I'm always able to read it when I want. The screen really is decent all around, zero complaints there. The alarm is loud enough to let you know it's going off, but it wouldn't wake me from a deep sleep. The alarm also only runs for ten seconds, which again wouldn't wake me personally. If you're looking for something super tough and reliable, you've found it here. Oh, I also put a bull bar in it, and it's taken some serious hits but keeps ticking. The cons I can think of: The band ended up hurting my wrist where it attaches to the case, and the resin band itself is not great. I went with Jays&Kays replacement 16-22mm small profile metal strap adapters with the link ends, and a 22mm silicon band. I don't even notice the watch is on my wrist some days, it's that comfortable. I really recommend Jays&Kays for any square gshock (since that's all I've used them for). It's a bit pricey up front, but I promise it's worth it. Plus it makes it look so good. The light switches off it you hit any buttons instead of increasing the backlight time so you can see what you're doing. I. Hate. That. If you've played with a timex, when you hit the light button, not only does it stay on, but it'll be on the entire time you're setting something up, such as an alarm. Not this watch. There second you click anything else, shuts the light right off. Things I wish it had: The interface oh a timex Ironman. I don't use certain things, and would have loved to hide those. Would also have liked to fix the light thing mentioned earlier. Wish I didn't need to get the band done that way, as it takes another 40 to get it super comfy. Although, you could just get a combi bracelet and call it good, they are super comfy too. That's about it. It's a great work watch, and you really can't beat a Casio g-shock square. ... show more

  • a good solid, durable watch at a good price point.
This is my son's full-time watch, and he loves it. It is really durable and looks great at the same time. I also bought some protective accessories, even though they were not really necessary. I just have noticed that my son tends to abuse his watches, which is why I got him a G-Shock in the first place. The functions are very good, though not extensive. They are more than I expected at this price, though. He really likes it a lot, so overall a good purchase. ... show more

  • Excellent G-Shock Excellent G-Shock
Finally landed the right G-Shock! Viewing angles are kinda weird, especially in the dark. But that’s where the light comes in! Looks bigger than it wears. There’s something amazing about a murdered out watch! 😎

  • Simple and Elegant Design Simple and Elegant Design
This is my first G-Shock and I'd say it's worth every penny. Minimalist design and the matte color is beautiful. Yes, it is harder to read as it has an inverted display but I'll say it matches the overall color of the watch. There's a problem however, the adjust button is push in and it's so hard to push compared to the other buttons, other than that I'll say that this watch is perfect. ... show more

  • Truly Durable – Still Perfect After Years of Use
I bought this watch back in 2022, and honestly, it’s one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I’ve worn it almost every day since then and it has never, ever failed — not once. It’s 100% waterproof. I’ve used it at the beach, in pools, in the rain, and never had to worry. No matter what you throw at it, this G-Shock can take it. Aside from being tough, it has a clean and simple design that goes with everything. It’s comfortable, lightweight, and the battery feels like it lasts forever. If you’re looking for a watch that’s really built to last and totally reliable, this is the one. ... show more

  • G-Shock toughness, Casio accuracy, Rolex elegance
My search for the perfect G began and ended with the list of things I DIDN'T want cobbled into my timepiece. No solar, check. No Bluetooth, check. No Atomic Clock syncing, check. No DNA-damaging RF radiation, check. Insanely accurate quartz time-keeping, check. Nearly indestructible and water resistant enough to be used as a dive watch, check. Small enough that it doesn't look like I'm lugging a water meter around on my wrist, check. It seems like just a couple years ago you couldn't touch a G with a negative display for less than $200. I always liked the tacti-cool negative display, but the "exclusivity" came at too great a premium for me. I'm glad I waited, because the negative display combined with the "Basic Blackout" clean face, without all the busy clutter, on this watch is a winner. Is the negative display a challenge to read in low light? Yup. Does it have an excellent illumination function? Yup. The minimalist, understated face and digital display give this tough guy a Bond-esque flare of elegance. And you can take it off, leave it on the bedside valet for two weeks, and put it on without spending 10 minutes of your day resetting and winding it. And at the end of the week you won't have to adjust it for the five minutes it has lost or gained. My laughably inaccurate (Certified Chronometer, even) Swiss automatic is now just a pretty paperweight. TLDR: Tougher, more sophisticated, more accurate, and just as elegant as a Rolex Submariner, at 1/250th the price. Do yourself a solid, buy this watch and apply the $19,920 you save toward a bug-out vehicle and some ammo. ... show more
