Well constructed and lightweight, really good looking watch and very functional. I do business with people all over the world and need a quick and easy way to remember whay time it is in their part of the world. I've always loved the vintage Casio world time map graphic, that was way ahead of its time back in the 80s and it is still one of the simplest and best iterations of the world time concept. I bought both watches (AE-1200 and AE-1000) at the same time. These watches have the same functionality, but they have slightly different form factors and slightly different face layouts. First, the differences. The AE-1200 is slightly more square and a little smaller. The AE-1000 seems to be a little more readable and more eye-pleasing to me. Second, things in common. These watches have a countdown timer (but no auto repeat function), a stopwatch, 4 local times, world time, and 5 alarms. For me personally, the countdown timer is my most used function. The auto repeat function would be really nice but is missing from these models. I seldom use the alarms, so 5 alarms is really overkill. 2 would be plenty. The small (semi-)analog display is a cool idea, but it is generally too small for me to read in most light conditions. My eyes aren't as good as they used to be, so this may not be an issue for younger people. The small world time map is pretty much the same thing - too small to be of much use. Which is too bad because these 2 things take up about 50% of the display area. All said they are nice watches, with good functionality, and are a good value for the price. ... show more

This is an amazing watch. I used the same watch for 15 years and in 2025 I bought it again after the older one was damaged due to some aggressive chemical. I live in the East Coast of the US and I have friends and family in different parts of Europe. I regularly check the time over there. I use the timer for when I am brushing my teeth. I use the stopwatch when I brew coffee. I use the alarms for my daily short walks and to wake up. I had to remove two sections of the strap to make it a good fit for my wrist. You may need to do that as well. All around it is just an excellent watch. Casio is of course amazing with quality. I would recommend it to anyone. I know smart watches are getting more and more common but trust me, one less device to charge regularly is a better improvement in your life than anything else. ... show more

I would say this is a mini computer and I keep wondering how could they put these many functions inside this small watch and offering it for 15 dollars.I'm blown away by this wonderful product and this is my favorite watch all the time and I rarely wear my other watches. Isn't this amazing that it got the time for close to 50 cities and I can select 4 of them in T1(Home City), T2, T3 and T4 to easily flip through using the bottom right button. This functionality helped me a lot during my 2 international trips through multiple transits. Before the departure I select all the Cities that I'm transiting through so that I can easily flip to that time zone when I land in that airport and I do not need to rely on airport clock or internet to know the time and calculating the time left for catching my connecting flight. I love this watch especially for this functionality. While scrolling through the time zones for selection the tiny world map in the watch will blink the specific geographical area for that time zone. The capabilities of this watch does not end here, It has lot more to offer. We can program 5 daily or one time alarms into this tiny piece. Stopwatch, Counter, 12 or 24 hour time format, Day light saving ON or OFF which simplifies the time setting when the DST switches. We can set it to signal a beep for every hour. There is digitally displayed manual clock at the top right corner which will display your home country time stored in the T1 timezone. When I go on an international trip, I flip the digital display to local time(T2-T4) and will refer the home city time(T1) in the manual clock. The watch is really durable, light weight, stylish, sporty, water proof, 10 years battery life and comes with a detailed instruction for setting up each and every functionality of this watch.What more can I expect for a 15 dollar watch. My impression to buy this watch happened after seeing one my friends wearing it. I bought one for me and 3 more for giving it as gift. My friend lost it twice and bought the same watch 3rd time which proves how much he also likes it. The last thing that I want to say is, I don't like the fancy brands which charge their customers just for the sake of their brand name or fancy packaging and offer noting more than a normal brand offers. I always prefer quality over show off so I picked this Casio watch. I really appreciate that CASIO believed in quality and functionality and not on fancy packaging. I feel really bad that I'm writing this review after 1.5 years of my purchase and I should have done it long back.     • Great inexpensive watch to have if you're visting multiple time zones

The TLDR version is as the title says, this is a great cheap and sturdy watch to have if you're traversing multiple time zones. On the main screen the watch stores four time zones denoted T-1 through T-4 that you can cycle through by pressing the bottom right button. If you change the watch mode (i.e. to alarm setting, stopwatch, timer, etc.) and cycle back to the main screen (using the buttom left mode button) you will get the T-1 time again. You can switch any of the other T-zones to T-1 by pressing the top left and top right buttons simultaneously. This is especially relevant for the alarm setting, as the alarm rings based on whatever the current T-1 time is. There are some minor nitpicks, one is the last of a true "illuminator" as others have pointed out; the watch light is an old-school yellow lamp on the upper right corner of the watch rather than a blue backlighting. The time zone map and the digital dial on the upper left and right respectively are entirely aesthetic and serve little if any useful purpose; in the case of the map it's really too small to be useful but it's irrelevant since you'll probably be setting time zones on the watch based on a city/airport abbreviation, while for the dial it's redundant at best given that this is a digital watch and not an analog one. Also in my case the white text at the top and buttom of the watch ("world time" on top and "illuminator" on the bottom) completely wore off after about a month of use. I've just got black plastic in those areas now on my watch. Overall though I like this watch for the price and functionality. It's pretty scratch resistant so far too, I'm pretty cheap and usually go for $5 watches sold on the street that tend to get scratched up really easily when they get brushed against a hard surface like a sink faucet or a doorknob, but this watch has been taking the knocks without any visible scratches. ... show more
