Radio time control, solar battery power, 200m water resistance, and insane durability for under $200 is absolutely astonishing. People buy the CASIO G-Shock GW-M5610U-1JF for a myriad of reasons: it could be due to a sense of nostalgia, its durability, reliability, its size, or just by its sleek looks. Nevertheless, for whatever reason, I am certain that it will absolutely serve its purpose. As for me, I bought this watch to be worn at home (aka beater watch) in lieu of my Apple watch and my Hamilton Field Automatic. I could wear this watch carefree without any fear of getting damaged. As the 5610 became a part of my regular rotation, I noticed that it is getting more wrist time compared to my Apple watch. With Tough Solar technology, I never need to charge the watch nor worry that it's running out of juice - the total opposite of my Apple watch. With its Multiband 6, I am confident that the watch is accurate to the second despite the lack of radio wave reception in my location here in the Philippines. However, thanks to the radio wave apps, I could manually sync my time to the Atomic clock. I recently had a vacation on the island of Palawan and the 5610 served as my daily driver for the duration of my trip. From water activities to every life on the island, you can be sure that the watch can carry the load without fail. I also find it very practical for travel as I feel free and untethered since I don't need to charge the watch from time to time You guys should try it sometime, it's liberating. That is why, the 5610 had become my go to travel watch. If you are still on the fence, think no further and just pull the trigger, you won't regret it. ... show more

Get this watch! Awesome! This edition may appear to be just another 5600. No way! It’s very sleek and advanced by comparison. Nice dark true black color. Very light weight. Nice soft backlight. Slim. Soft and comfortable strap material. If you’re a big G square fan this could easily be your one and done. Could not be more pleased. Definitely a tad pricey but worth it imo. Put it in your carousel and wait till you have some points or a sale. Highly recommend! ... show more

I love my old 5610 to death. Retro look, atomic syncing, built like a brick, the list goes on. Was pretty confident I could do without what outwardly seemed a minor update for $50 extra MSRP, but I read several reviews and decided to pull the trigger. The switch to LED backlight with a 1.5 or 3 second run option alone is worth the $50. Much clearer nighttime display, and will last for eons with less power draw. The second goodie improves the World Time function to offer up to five user-selected preset time zones to cycle through. The secondary time is displayed in the date window and (brace yourself) can be swapped with the primary time with the touch of two buttons. Fans of the classic G-Shock modules will be pleased to learn primary time display in all modes has returned. Be advised the product I received was the Japanese market model which included only Japanese documentation. You can find the English manuals on Google. I do not feel any exaggeration with some other reviewers claims that this is quite possibly the best watch ever designed. I'm still keeping my old one around as a "super-beater", but I have a new daily wearer, which will most likely out-last myself. ... show more

    • Awesome watch except for the chime / alarm.
I absolutely love this watch. The LED backlight is awesome, it syncs up every morning with the atomic signal so I never have to worry that it's not set properly. The only downfall to this watch is the beep for the hourly chime/ alarm. It's almost inaudible. For the life of me I don't know why they offer a chime and alarm and then make it so quiet that you can't hear it unless the watch is hanging on your ear. If you can get past that the watch is absolutely amazing, but if you need a watch with an hourly chime or alarm you can actually hear then stay away. ... show more
