  • Worth every penny.
If you are going to buy this watch, which you should, you should order it from Inscription JP. Fantastic seller, and good communication skills. The watch itself is what you’d expect, HIGH QUALITY. Very understated, with a very nice appearance. The photos make the watch look bigger than it is, I have very small wrists and this watch sits perfectly on it. The watch is straightforward to operate. It is set it and forget it, no nonsense which I approve of. It has nice features such as being able to store more than 1 time zone if you travel a lot. It’s 20 bar resistant so water is a non-issue. Setting the time took all of 10 seconds. You won’t regret buying this watch. The wait will kill you though lol. Update 7/3/26 As of yesterday this watch has stopped working. Could be just be bad luck, or could be something more. At around 11:00 am yesterday while the charge level was showing H the watch randomly reset to 12:00 and the display was flashing. I put the watch near a window thinking it was simply dead. However as time went on the display started flashing partial digits and later that evening the display went completely blank. It is currently sitting next to a window. Given that I was not shown the usual CHG or LOW notification I am led to the conclusion that this is a defective unit on my hands. Not a knock against the watch itself, I love it but be aware you may want to opt for a warranty on these. Update 7/25. Alright so replacing the battery was pretty easy. Casio made it fool proof so that you can’t really mess it up provided you have the correct tools. The one I got shipped simply had a faulty battery - replaced it with a genuine battery from Casio Part dot com and watch is working as it should. Updated star rating for the serviceability of the watch, you won’t regret your purchase. ... show more

  • Just About As Close to Perfect as you can Be
This product is as advertised and is genuine [normally, I am very concerned about counterfeit products when paying below retail] - the product I received works great and fits wonderfully. I tested the MB6 radio, and it synced at the appropriate time at around 0400EST. The module works great and the band is softer out of the box so you don't have to boil it or take it to the sauna to form it or break it in. This can dress up or down - the watch will outlast the remainder of my natural lifetime. 100/10. 200m water resistance will also allow for flux in high altitudes and diving that doesn't require a decompression chamber. This watch doesn't need to flex because it has more features than you deserve. Even if the station in Ft Collins loses funding, the watch is still more accurate than most COSC watches. This is a tool for a person - not for a tool wearing a watch. This has excellent value and is perfect for daily or infrequent use since it's solar and has a 'power saving' function. The only thing that would make this perfect is an EL lume, but that's a decision Casio made for whatever reason. Nothing in life is perfect, but this is as close as you can get. The item arrived quickly, in order, and with no issues with shipping or customs, seller 10/10. ... show more

  • The Ultimate Timepiece
I have a small collection of moderately nice watches. I purchased this G-Shock nearly five years ago and it was the last watch I ever purchased and likely will be unless some calamity befalls it. This is the ultimate timepiece in my opinion. Formerly, my work required accurate time keeping and that was the reason I went down the path of the square G-Shocks. After landing on this incredibly solid and unpretentious beast my search was over. This watch does absolutely everything you could possibly need a watch to do while omitting all of the bullshit. Accurate time, date, day of the week, nightly radio sync to the atomics, solar power, stop watch, countdown timers, time zones, alarms and a light. Does it know what I ate for breakfast? Thankfully not. Can it track my movements or record my heart rate? Thankfully not. I'm confident that this watch will never sell me or my data down the river. Because it isn't collecting any. This watch is more accurate than the lower end G-Shocks and I know this by having been out of range of the atomic clocks for months. If the apocalypse happens, you're only going to gain a few seconds a year. The rubber on this watch is also higher quality than the other G-Shocks, more comfortable, softer feel and seemingly more durable. My lower end G-Shocks took more damage from chemicals splashes than this one has. It's easy to clean with soap and a scrub brush and is of course water resistant. I also love that I don't look like a douchebag with more money than sense, a temporarily embarrassed millionaire trying to get into the billionaire club. This is a working man's watch, one that works flawlessly and is made to stand the test of time. I've traveled to some very seedy areas of the globe with this watch on my wrist, never feeling like I would be targeted because it's so no-frills and non-flashy. All of my friends have seen this watch on my wrist daily for the past five years and I'm sure that any of them would be shocked to see the price tag but none of them are the wiser. Is this watch worth the price tag? Absolutely, 100% yes. This truly is the last watch I'll ever buy. In fact, five years in, I'm honestly thinking of selling all my other watches. All they do is collect dust now. ... show more

  • The Ultimate Stealth Watch
I was initially turned onto this watch by a YouTube review that seemingly popped up at random on my feed. Being a modest G-Shock fan (owning half a dozen already over the many years), I gave the review a look-see. The video was very well done, and practically a travel log. That alone was not enough to persuade me, as I have an education in marketing, so ads that "sell the sizzle and not the steak" do little to garner my interest in a product. Here's what did, though, and the reason I bought something that so pricy, yet understated. The 5000U is pattered in the classic square-face design of the G-Shocks of old, but is sufficiently modern for my tastes. No, it doesn't connect via Bluetooth to your phone like the 7000 series, nor does it have the crisp TIFF display like the H1000, nor does it show tide and moon info like the Rescue or Frogman series, nor does it display your altitude and bearing like a Rangeman. No, the 5000U offers Multichannel 6 radio atomic time keeping, solar tough charging, and the usual assortment of features you'd expect on a digital G-Shock, including a 20-Bar water resistance. So what makes it so special? What justifies it being $100+ more expensive than the average G-Shock with the same features? The answer to those questions are Construction and Understated Style. Most G-Shock watches are made with a plastic core. While still very durable and more than tough enough to be run over by a commercial truck, the 5000U was made with a steel core making it even more so durrable. What's more, being made in Japan, the 5000U features a steel screw-down back to the casing, as opposed to being a thin sheet of metal attached with for tiny screws. Not only is this indicative of quality the likes of which you only see in premium luxury watches (which are decidedly NOT G-Shock tough), but the feature greatly improves the watch's durability while adding only a sliver of thickness. The steel core is wrapped in an outter shell and band of silicone. Not only does this lend to the subtle appearance of the watch, but makes the 5000U remarkably comfortable to wear all day long. Truly, I tell you, this is the most comfortable G-Shock I've ever worn, it may well be the most comfortable watch I've ever owned! While it's true that the person sitting next to you may never guess this degree of superior craftsmanship is sitting on your wrist, nor will anyone be impressed with its flashy bling -- that's sort of the point! The 5000U bears a deliberately understated style of its own. Not standing out like a gaudy peacock should be considered a selling point, not a detractor. Wearing a 5000U gives you an air of mature modesty, yet you still retain the confidence and knowledge you possess a superior timekeeper. The skeeby, sketchy guy next to you by the bus stop or subway won't look at your watch and wonder how much he can get for it at the hock shop. It doesn't mark you was a person with a surplus of cash in your wallet. And the 5000U doesn't make you worry about scuffing up your pretty, overpriced piece of timekeeping jewelry, thus freeing you to be the devil-may-care man that you truly are... potentially, anyhow. True to it's G-Shock heritage, this is a watch for men who want some more dependable, through thick and thin. Something practical, accurate, and devil-dog tough; yet made with superior craftsmanship and care. If I had a complaint about the 5000U, it would be that the buttons are on the small side. Pressing the light button in the dark could be quicker and easier task with either bigger buttons or a dedicated light button. Even so, I have large hands, and once you get a feel for the controls, it's not enough of an inconvenience to warrant switching to another watch. ... show more

  • Finally got my ultimate G
Love it as my daily. I now use my m5610u as my workout watch and my 5000u as daily. It’s noticeably heavier, softer, easier to read. Same module functionality. Golden. I put this one on a combi bracelet but went back to stock after I realized the softness is a distinguishing feature I truly liked better than combi-feel/weight. Cool how low key/high value it is! 5stars ... show more

  • This is the BEST Square G shock of them all !!
Watch arrived yesterday. Its as described in the You Tube Videos, a very refined example of the 1983 square G Shock. The watch feels like a luxury product. It has a softer strap, the case is in metal, and the case back is a screw down like you see in a high quality mechanical watch. It synced up to the tower and the time and date are correct. I had to pick a city that had the same time zone as my city so the time was correct and the daylight savings script showed on the dial. I have not used all the functions of the watch yet. This is a great watch, the only G Shock you will ever need unless you just want to collect them. I have a round case G Shock a GW-7900 that I purchased a couple of years ago. I bought this one to replace it because that one is too thick and chunky. This one is a square case and much thinner and it wears better on the wrist. If you like the square G Shock this is by far, the best one ! ... show more

  • Great watch for carefree timekeeping and timing use
If you are one who wants a "smart" watch that tracks your steps and measures various body functions, then you should look elsewhere. I really like this watch because it does a good job of telling time for me and allowing me to do things like time events. The solar cells built into to dial work to keep the watch charged, so, after the initial charge, I never have to worry about charging. And I can always be sure the time is correct because it checks against the Bureau of Standards standard time broadcast every evening (except for occasional exceptions when there are big storms between my location and the time broadcasts coming from Colorado). I did notice one drawback. The night of the change to DST happened to be one when the radio capture cycle did not work. The watch apparently detects DST from the radio signal, so it did not show the DST change. I changed it to manual DST setting temporarily, and it corrected the next evening. So, if you want a carefree watch to use for basic time keeping and timing functions, it is hard to find a better alternative. It is also ruggedly constructed so you don't have to worry about damaging it when you are wearing it even in fairly challenging situations. ... show more

  • But it!
The most accurate non-smart watch that is also solar-powered. Made in Japan, so quality is there. What else do you want out of a watch?
