  • Probably the best serious beginner keyboard
Style: Standalone Keyboard Pattern Name: Keyboard Pack
The competition is the Yamaha PSR-E463, and that's a fine keyboard, too, but it's somewhat older and getting a little dated now. The Casio, with the AiX chipset, sounds better to my ears, and the keyboard is jam-packed with sounds, rhythyms, accompaniments, etc. You can play this for years before you'll feel the need to upgrade, and you may never outgrow it. Feature for feature, and sound for sound, the Casio is far and away the best bargain for your money. My only gripe: My original keyboard arrived with a dead headphone jack and had to be returned. Amazon replaced it quickly. ... show more

  • Great, Realistic sound
Style: Standalone Keyboard Pattern Name: Keyboard Pack
I bought my son a Casio keyboard more than 20 years ago for Christmas and was amazed at the fun sound effects alone, and the piano was a decent sound too. He still has it and it works to this day... I always wanted one like it but could talk him out of his, so I decided to shop for a electric piano, I had a couple narrowed down between a $600 Casio or $600 Yamaha... both had great reviews and claims to great sound and ease of use. but I was on a budget and wanted something quick so I bought the ctx700 and figured I would practice and learn this keyboard before spending a few more bucks for a better one. well I am glad I bought the ctx700 first for $180. The sound is incredible! and the price? I would have paid double or more for this keyboard... I think I paid the same $180 bucks 20 years agofor the one I got then and like I said it still is up and running. ok, I have meat hooks for hands but have plaid many instruments before including the piano when I was a kid. I have to get used to the keys but they work decent, I find the more money you spend the better the keys are, other wise they all do about the same sounds and effects. the more buttons the easier, because with less buttons you have to press a button more than once to make your choice...the ctx700 is fairly simple to learn but with some challenges. I look forward to practice and spending time learning the ctx700, my favorite rhythm drum set is the Indian fx. the sounds of the drums and voices are so fun to use , I was a pro in ten minutes playing along with a BALI wood movie, so much fun... I say after reading and comparing for a year and finally could fork over the money to get the ctx700 for a price next to nothing … I say BUY IT!!! ... show more

  • Love this piano!
Style: Standalone Keyboard Pattern Name: Keyboard Pack
I know nothing about keyboards. The last piano I played was a real one that my family had when I was a kid. But, I read several glowing reviews of this one and it was recommended over and over again, and the price was right, so I ordered it. It arrived in perfect condition, and even I, who can barely turn my laptop on and off, managed to set it up and get it working. I have no idea what most of the buttons do. I merely wanted a piano. I set it to "grand piano" setting and I love the sound. It sounds exactly like a real piano! I bought the Casio SP-20 Upgraded Piano-Style Sustain Pedal to use with it, and it works fine, too. The keys are responsive and work easily, and the fact that I can use headphones with it is one of the features I love. I disturb no one and no one has to hear my mistakes, or my endless scales and chords practice. If you're someone like me that just wants to play the piano, this keyboard should satisfy you. Maybe someday I'll figure out the buttons. I am very pleased with it. ... show more

  • Worth It
Style: Standalone Keyboard Pattern Name: Keyboard Pack
Good so far. Still learning the ins and outs of keyboard. Pros: -Sounds great. -It does accept a pedal, which early previews I saw were suggesting that you would need the 800 for that feature. -So far I have used it with a balanced 1/4 cable to output audio. Works good. -This is my first Casio keyboard and have heard the budget line has had floppy keys in past. The keys on the 700 feel fine to me. Cons: -Screen is bright but you need to be in the correct position to see what it says. Wish it had a larger fov. -Plug is bulky, like an old school phone charger. Minor nitpick I know. Looking forward to getting more time with it, will update review if I find any major changes. ... show more

  • Wonderful instrument
Style: Standalone Keyboard Pattern Name: Keyboard Pack
So far, I like everything about it, especially the sounds of the various instruments. As I tried out the various tones, I played a song I liked, then would hear a tone that lended itself to another song, i.e. I was playing "Seven Spanish Angels" using guitar and bass tones but when I came to the mandolin, I switched to "Laura's" theme, and so on. Can't wait to try layering and splitting. I wish the instructions had larger print as I am 80 and my eyes are not so good anymore, but the instructions seem pretty good. I consider my playing in the intermediate range, and play for activities here in the Senior Complex where I live. I used to play an accordion and French horn. I've owner several keyboards in the $300 range but they usually end up with a grandchild! This one is the best for the money. Can't wait to learn to do more with it. ... show more

  • Super fun!
Style: Educational Pack Pattern Name: Keyboard Pack
Really fun toy I bought myself. Love the different sounds and there is a ton of settings to experiment with. I haven’t even scratched the surface of what this keyboard can do! The stand and headphones are great. The “educational software” is a complete joke which was a disappointment. From what I could tell, by the end, you’re playing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,” which is the first lesson of many beginning piano books, not the last. And with that, you're directed to the eMedia website where you are pitched the rest of the program for $44.95. C’mon, seriously? The keyboard is great. It really wouldn't take much to give folks the decent lesson/ instruction book. Actually, the image of the eMedia program shown is not what you get. That's the $45 option you are directed to at the end of the cheesy cd you do get. That's just not right. ... show more
