Every so often there comes an item that is an unbelievable combination of price and quality. Mora knives ($13), cree flashlights ($3) are good examples of this, assuming that sellers don't just start over charging for them. Adding to that list is this microscope. For what it is, I can't imagine how it could be improved. Amazing magnification, clear image and compact size for under $10 if you get 4 of them. Before I ordered these, I knew other people would like them for themselves or their kids, so I got the set and sold 3 of them to other people for $10 each. Since then, I have ordered another set and may have to get third. That is the thing with stuff like this microscope and the Mora and cree - once you show them to other people, they want one too and for some reason they can't go to Amazon themselves, so you end up buying it again. ... show more

Purchased a four pack for my grandchildren thinking they would enjoy looking at anything up close and dirty. It does take some getting used to as far as moving left to see right but within moments if not seconds, you'll have it down. Upon receiving them, I installed a battery in each and looked through each just to make sure they all worked the same. They truly do work however, there is a spot dead center of the glass on each of the four that makes the magnified image blurry. The outer parts are clear but the exact center is not regardless of focus adjustments. I'm keeping them but would I buy them again? No, not with that spot in the middle on each. I'd move on to something else if there was other options. Edit: Due to the expedient and unsolicited response of Carson, the manufacturer, providing assistance and willing to replace these, I have taken my rating up to five stars and have decided that YES, I would purchase these again because of it. All too often there is no service after the sale and Carson proves there are companies out there that truly support their customers and want them to be completely satisfied. That in itself deserves a couple stars and therefore I must give credit where credit is due. Don't hesitate in buying these as the price point is very good and if you do have issues, Carson will support you. As for the blurry image, I had the kids and their parents all look through them, 12 different people in total, and no one said anything about that. The only thing mentioned was how amazing they worked and how gross some things looked magnified, lol. I guess I'm wrong. Maybe it's my old eyes and not the Carson MicroBrite afterall. At 4 for $36, these are the best value we've found and still incredibly good! My kids LOVE looking at everything through these - carpet, hair, printed paper, cardboard, leaves, their skin, etc. Truly a great value, and super nice to drop in my pocket when we go for a nature hike and want to look at moss up close. It's sometimes hard to hold it still enough when you're actually out in nature, just because things are SO magnified, that moving even a few mm results in the object no longer being in focus. But that's not a problem with the magnifiers so much as my own ability to hold still! When we really want to see it without it shifting, we just put it on the table and put the magnifier on top of the table and problem solved. ... show more

This is an awesome little microscope! Great when used on a surface, a bit hard to hold and focus free-hand, but once I got the hang of it, it's ideal for my use, and the light helps direct me to the exact spot I want to view. I was horrified when I examined a tiny biting "no-see-em" bug - it looked like something from a horror flick. No wonder it hurts when they bite! Huge domed, red eyes! I’m all about getting the better value, which is why I decided to purchase the 4-pack, which is also why I’m currently broke. However, I would highly recommend these little gadgets for kiddos and adults alike! It takes a little bit of practice to maneuver and focus but once you get the hang of it you’ll be looking at everything under this microscope haha.
