For informational purposes, I am white and my daughter is biracial and my son is white. My daughter has very dry hair no matter how much product I put in it or how long I leave in conditioner, once it dries it gets all frizzy. I bought this on the recommendation I get a scalp oil for her because she was going to get braids for the first time and I used it once on her and her hair stayed how it looks wet when it was dry. It moisturized her hair beautifully plus smells great and even after a full day of playing at school and outside her hair had perfect curls and no frizz. She would never wear her hair down before because she doesn’t like how it looks when it puffs up and gets all frizzy, now she wears her hair down almost everyday and loves it. I also used this on my 6 month old white son because he has cradle cap and almost no hair. I’ve used just a drop once a week after a bath and after only 2 weeks his cradle cap is almost completely gone and now that it’s gone you can see more of his fuzzy little hair and he looks like he actually has hair now. I just used it for the first time tonight because I’ve been getting these red areas on my scalp that I’ve never had before so I will update if it helps that or if it even works in my hair texture or makes my hair too greasy. I use this oil for my scalp, I get dry and flaky bits on my scalp and this helps so much. I apply at least 2 hours before I wash my hair and really massage it in. The smell is probably my favorite part. I also apply a small amount to the shaft of my hair when it’s dry for added shine. Works beautifully ... show more

My son's hair is usually dry and brittle. After a month of using this oil, I noticed how soft and manageable his hair has been. He has 4c type hair. His hair is looking much healthier. Buy! You won't be disappointed.

Even tho I LOVE how this oil smells, I think my scalp is a bit sensitive to the fragrance in this oil, I’ve noticed my scalp gets super sensitive and itchy after applying the oil, however my hair loves this stud and drinks it up. I have been using it on my ends and it has helped with the dryness and frizz. I would love to see how a fragrance free version would work for my scalp. ... show more

I love the applicator, it gets the oil right onto my scalp where I need it. It does take away the itch for the entire day however, somehow the oil creeps up into my hair so I have to use dry shampoo or it looks oily. It's a small price to pay not to go around all day with that terrible itch!

    • Not for me - Mostly the smell
Update: I’m just going to return this. I can’t get the smell out of my hair even after washing it and putting product in. Original Review: I occasionally use some other Carol’s products and like them, specifically the black vanilla scented products. I think this oil is intended for more coarse hair textures. My hair is thick, wavy-curly and in the middle of coarse and thin. I put it on my scalp with wet hair. The directions say not to rinse, but it felt so oily I knew I needed another wash and rinse. What bothers me most is the smell. It does have a perfume smell but it’s overpowered by the castor and olive oil smells and I find the mixture of all these smells bothersome and kind of nauseating. I’m going to keep the product and use it because I feel like it will help with my severely dry scalp, but I’m going to use it as a leave-in for x-minutes and wash-out treatment. I don’t see myself buying this particular product again… Mainly due to smell. ... show more
